Accommodations are twin-share. There is a limited number of private rooms available which can be booked, additional fees apply. All hotels will include Wi-Fi. Breakfast will be provided at hotels and thankfully, it isn't your typical continental breakfast.
Camping will be luxury camping, including, horses to carry luggage, dining tent, chef, toilet tent, and sleeping tents with inflatable mattress included.
As you arrive at the hotel, Heidi will be there to greet you and help you settle in. As everyone will be arriving at different times, you will have an opportunity to stretch your legs if arriving early, rest, and start to acclimatize. You will all land together in the evening for a grounding yoga practice and meet those you will be exploring Peru with.
This city tour involves visiting Cusco's highlights. You will start off with a walking tour by visiting the principle local market, San Pedro. After that you will walk around Cusco’s city center. You will visit the beautiful main square and the cathedral of Cusco, which holds many archaeological artifacts and relics. Among them is a famous painting of the Last Supper by Marcos Zapata, showing Christ and the apostles eating a guinea pig.
You will continue the tour with the huge Inca ceremonial center of Sacsayhuaman, which overlooks the city of Cusco. Next, you visit another important Inca site known as Qenqo, which houses subterranean passages and a mummification site. Then you will make a short visit to the archaeological Inca site of Tambomachay, a temple dedicated to the God of Water.
After exploring these sites, you will return to the city center, where you will visit one of the most sacred Inca buildings, The Temple of Qoricancha. Within its walls religious ceremonies were constant and offerings to the Gods and the Inca’s mummies were made each day.
After the city tour you will return to the hotel for integration.
You will be picked up in Cusco at 7:30 a.m. to visit Pisac and then stay in Ollantaytambo.
You will start with Aguanacancha Zoo, where you will be able to see South American camelids, continue with Pisac archaeological site, having plenty of time to visit most of the archaeological complex, and then do a two-hour hike, following the Inca Trailto Pisac town, have lunch and then visit the market.
You will start the day early as you spend the full day visiting all of the unique archaeological sites of Ollantaytambo. After lunch, you will hike up to the Inca Collpas, Inca storage, from where the group will have a different view of Ollantaytambo.
You will stay the night in Ollantaytambo.
You will begin your three-day trek. This journey will be complete with a tour of Machu Picchu.
Day one of three will be spent in nature on foot. Each person will be allowed eight kilograms (17 pounds) of luggage that will be carried by a horse. You will only need to worry about your water bottle, hiking poles, and enjoying the scenery.
You will start driving from the hotel to the small village of Tauca, (3750 meters) the beginning of the trek will be on level terrain, and the landscape will be that of typical Andean valleys rich in corn, potatoes, barley, quinoa, and other Andean tubers. As you ascend towards a pass at 4050 meters, the landscape begins to change dramatically to that classic of high Andean savannah or Puna, with scant vegetation, mainly “ichu” or high altitude grass.
The views of the Cordillera Vilcabamba peaks are spectacular: Veronica, Pitusiray, Chicon, and San Juan snow peaks. Soon after the pass, you will start your descent toward the Huchuy Qosqo plains, hiking along a path that leads to the Ccauca ravine, where you will be able to see archaeological remains and wild crops, such as tarwi, and a large quantity of cacti. You will walk downhill towards the Leon Punku ravine, where you will find remains of an Inca bridge and trail.
This canyon boasts geological formation surrounded by majestic rocks and boulders that direct the river to Huchuy Qosqo at 3650 meters. Huchuy Qosqo (“Little Cuzco”) is a noteworthy Inca complex. It boasts very fine stonework in a large Kallanka (rectangular hall), some residential and defensive quarters and interesting two-story buildings in stone and adobe.
Huchuy Qosqo is located on a plateau, surrounded by Inca agricultural terracing and commanding superb views of the Vilcabamba range.
You will be doing overnight camping in Huchuy Qosco.
After breakfast, you spend the morning exploring the Inca site of Huchuyqosqo. You then hike about three hours downhill into the Sacred Valley, where you catch your private transportation to Ollantaytambo, one of the best surviving Inca towns, complete with original walls, canals, and housing blocks. From Ollantaytambo, you take the train to Aguas Calientes, where you spend the night in a hotel. You will have the evening to yourself to explore local cuisine and rest.
Machu Picchu two-hour tour, with time on your own. Scenic train ride back to Cusco.
The day begins early as you catch one of the first buses up to Machu Picchu in time to watch the sunrise over the ancient city and the mountains. After enjoying the views, will have a two hour tour of the Machu Picchu. Afterwards, you have different options such as more time to explore the ruins, hike up Machu Picchu Mountain, hike up Huayna Picchu, go to the Temple of the Moon and Inca Bridge, or simply relax and soak in the atmosphere. In the afternoon, you will return to Aguas Calientes to catch the train to return to Cusco.
You will spend this day on your own.
The Peruvian guides can set you up with some optional opportunities for the day. This can be arranged upon arrival to Cusco (additional fees apply).
Options may include cooking lessons or Salt Mine tour, with archaeological tour and picnic.
Heidi will be taking a group to the Salt Mines.

A three day journey to Machu Picchu will start off with a trek to over look the Sacred Valley. This trek will center around Huchuy Qosqo (little Cusco) which sits above the Sacred Valley, a spectacular secluded site that very few tourists visit.
Explore one of Peru's most famous sights and one of the seven wonders of the world.
When you think of Peruvian food, think fresh. Peruvians eat extremely healthy with crops grown all year round. There is no shortage of fruits and vegetables. You will eat local Peruvian cuisine throughout this journey. Breakfasts will be provided daily. Six additional meals will be provided. You will also have the opportunity to explore local markets and eat meals of your choosing as well.
