The shift from summer to autumn can be unsettling for many people. If it’s a time of the year that leaves you feeling low, slow, sluggish, or overwhelmed then you’re most definitely not alone! Picture a weekend of letting your body soften, of giving your mind the quiet time, and hearing the wishes of your soul. Imagine the warmth of a log fire on your skin after a countryside walk and enjoying nourishing, home-cooked food. This is the perfect opportunity to give yourself the invaluable gift of time on a retreat weekend.
Urban Pearl Yoga is returning to Lower Coxbridge House, nestled in the Somerset countryside. Decked out with hardwood floors and flooded with light, the house feels warm and inviting, making it the perfect place for retreat. Set in secluded grounds with paddocks and orchards, it has views of the unspoiled countryside from every window, including a beautiful view of the Glastonbury Tor.
Facilities include a dedicated yoga space, fully equipped kitchen complete with Aga, sunken bathtub in the master bedroom, fireplace, hammocks, and a hot tub. We have five comfortable bedrooms available, including a deluxe master room with balcony and a sunken bath tub.
Morning practice will be Hatha flow, which is a more dynamic version of traditional Hatha yoga. The 90 minutes classes will be sequenced to create space in the body while lighting up the inner fire that can often feel so dulled during autumn. This will be accompanied by pranayama (breathing techniques) to really wake the mind and bring the attention to the present moment.
Evening practice will be Yin yoga, which is a more meditative style with longer held poses. Yin is the perfect way to wind down, balancing energy centres in the body and allowing for inner reflection. This will be rounded off with a meditation such as Yoga Nidra, a guided, deep relaxation technique. All equipment (mats, blocks, straps etc) is provided and all levels are welcome!
Taking time out is one of the most precious gifts you can give yourself. We’re so often bogged down with daily chores, work, deadlines and commitments that we rarely stop and check in with ourselves. Taking time, even for just a weekend, to put yourself first can feel like self-indulgence, but it allows us to look at where we are and where we want to go with fresh perspective.
On this retreat, you’ll be guided in how to start listening to what your heart really wants through a dedicated workshop on the Saturday afternoon, as well as tips on how to keep the retreat feeling for when you return home.
For Natalie yoga is a way of living, a system for cultivating happiness, living with compassion and actively choosing how to live on a daily basis. She believes that everything is yoga, from Ayurveda to astrology, to hot chocolates and sunshine! She teaches informal classes with a smile and always encourage softness in the practice. Her main aim is to help you find your own bliss. She's a 500+ hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher, leading predominantly Hatha Flow and Yin classes with an emphasis on breath and alignment.
Glastonbury itself is a colourful town full of interesting characters and cafes. It’s just a 30 minutes walk or a few minutes drive from the house and only 50 minutes from Bristol and Bath. It’s also easily reachable by rail and road from London.

Food should, of course, be healthy and nourishing, but it should also taste good and leave you feeling satisfied! Olga, the retreat chef, will again be serving you breakfast, lunch, and dinner, made from organic, locally sourced ingredients and filled with love.
Meals you can expect will include things like seasonal fruit salads and healthy oats, tagines, and soups and of course, delicious desserts. All meals are vegetarian but vegans can be catered for, too. Allergies and intolerances can also be accommodated, just make sure you let Urban Pearl Yoga know ahead of time.
The schedule is relaxed, with plenty of time for self-reflection, journaling, countryside walks, taking a massage, soaking in the hot tub or curling up with a good book. You can also visit Glastonbury Tor, The Chalice Well Gardens, Glastonbury Town Centre, and Stonehenge (car required as its about 60 minutes drive away). This is your time, and you’ll be encouraged to do what feels good for you.
