National Geographic calls Costa Rica as the most biologically intense place on earth. This is a better place to look deeply at nature and the place in it, to look deeply at yourself, and to consider what Thich Nhat Hanh calls interbeing. Your home for the week will be a beautiful eco-lodge on the Pacific Coast.
You will be served with three whole-food meals each day, beginning with dinner on the first day and ending with breakfast on the final day. Healthy vegetarian options are available along with fish and / or chicken. The food is organic when available and prepared with nourishing ingredients.
The centers do accommodate most special dietary restrictions like allergies, vegan, and non-gluten diets. They serve wholesome, fresh, organic when possible meals that are simple and delicious. Costa Rica has some of the alternative foods you can enjoy in the States but generally speaking, the diet in Latin America is simple and basic.
If you are concerned, you can bring some alternative snacks to supplement your meals. If you have dietary restrictions, please be sure True Nature Education is aware of this and they will forward information to your destination, so they can be prepared for you.
At the retreat center, there is unlimited filtered water, so you can fill your water bottles. In most of Costa Rica, the water is safe and, as always, there are some exceptions in certain places. You can drink bottled water in the cities and True Nature Education will be clear when it is safe and unsafe to drink the water.
Please book your flight to arrive at San Jose International Airport (SJO). Transfer from and to the airport is included. The organizer will pick you up from the airport. There will be one group airport shuttle each way based on the flight window guidelines.
Be sure your flights align with the provided flight windows if you wish to use the group shuttle. In order to utilize these group shuttles, your flights must fall within the flight window guidelines. In the event that the actual arrival time does not coincide with the windows (such as in the case of flight cancellation or delay), you will incur the expense of alternative transport.
