The River Club consists of 11 luxurious suites. Each one is uniquely designed and hidden among the trees on the banks of the Zambezi River. You will wake up in the morning with spectacular views of the river and the surrounding nature and wildlife. Each suite has a balcony and a spacious room with two bathrooms. The infinity swimming pool located beside the river is a great place to relax. In the main buildings, you can find many games, books, interesting historical objects, and plenty of places to relax. There is also a gym and tennis court, as well as a long nature walk trail on the 50 acre riverfront property.

This will be a tailor-made retreat based on your needs and desires. This yoga retreat is suitable for beginners as well as advanced yoga practitioners. The style is mostly Hatha flow, however Carolyn can teach a wide variety of styles of yoga, and is happy to customize the class based on the students wishes.

You will be practicing in serene settings, with fresh air and the sounds of birds. The group sizes are small, allowing you plenty of attention from the teacher. Carolyn will help you work towards any goals you have in your yoga practice.

Each morning will begin with a walking meditation around the property. You will be introduced to different themes and meditation techniques. You will explore the sensations within your body and the surroundings.

The morning yoga class will be energizing and will prepare you for an exciting day. During the week, you will progressively add in new asanas. Each evening yoga class follows a specific theme, and you will explore in-depth certain parts of the body.

On this retreat you will have the option to add on many exciting excursions, according to your interests. Some options which we can arrange for you include a visit to Victoria Falls, a game drive safari to see the animals, a helicopter ride over Victoria Falls, bungee jumping, white water rafting, bicycle tours, and much more! Or you can just enjoy the beautiful setting of The River Club, and partake in some of the onsite activities such as tennis, birdwatching, nature trails, lawn sports, snooker, reading, swimming, gymnasium, and reading in a hammock. Please note, all onsite activities are included in the price of your package, and all offsite activities will be booked especially for you and are an extra charge.

    Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500 (Hatha Yoga)

    Carolyn has completed over 500 hours of Yoga Alliance teacher training courses. She can teach a wide variety of styles of yoga including Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Bikram, Prenatal, Kids, meditation, and yoga Nidra. She lived, worked, and studied on a yoga ashram in India for eight months. She has an in-depth, holistic, and traditional understanding of yoga. Her classes caters to all levels of students, and she loves working with her students to accomplish their goals.

This retreat will take place at The River Club, a tranquil oasis on Zambia’s mighty Zambezi River, a short distance away from the historical town of Livingstone. Zambia is a beautiful country in the southern part of Africa, filled with natural beauty and an enchanting culture. Zambia is a safe and stable county. It is a great introduction to Africa, because you will get to experience all the nature and culture, but it is not too chaotic or intimidating. The Zambians are very friendly, and are sure to make your experience wonderful.

During this retreat, you will enjoy three daily healthy meals. The food served is Zambian-inspired, and The River Club takes as many ingredients as possible from their own land or from the local farmers nearby.

The lodge has many superfoods that grow naturally, as well as many interesting local fruits and vegetables. Breakfast may consist of fresh fruits, yogurt, and muesli, or eggs with vegetables. Lunch will often be picnic style, since you will often be on excursions during the day.

Dinner will be different each day, so you can try a wide variety of seasonal offerings. The menu will be announced before the start of the retreat, based on what is in season at that time. In case that any of the standard options for dinner does not suit your diet, The River Club may arrange alternative options.

Aside from the scheduled excursions, there are many other great activities to enjoy. The River Club has a beautiful infinity swimming pool overlooking the Zambezi River, surrounded by beautiful trees and birds. You can either swim, or read and relax on one of the poolside chairs or hammocks in the trees. There are paths all around the property, where you can go for nature or meditation walks. There are beautiful lawns at The River Club, with cricket and croquet available. The extensive library and games in the lounge can also be nice to pass a relaxing afternoon. There are many other off site activities which can be arranged for you. Private yoga sessions with the instructor are available for personalized one-on-one classes.

The River Club has a small spa on site, and a variety of massages and other spa services can be arranged with our qualified spa staff.

Please book your flight to arrive at Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport (LVI). The River Club will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to the lodge (30 minute car ride, followed by a 10 minute scenic boat ride on the Zambezi River)
