Many people including you are out of touch with what you are feeling because you lack time and space in your lives to explore the deeper aspects of yourselves. In this week-long retreat, Suryalila Yoga Retreat Centre will offer a practice that allows the individual time for inner listening, tuning the body, and bringing harmony between the visceral (organs), emotional, and energetic layers of the body.
You will be accommodated in Suryalila Yoga Retreat Centre. It is a beautiful, old-renovated olive farm consisting of eight houses that form the cortijo. In typical Spanish style, there are two inner courtyards, one of which blooms with orange and lemon trees. The property sits on 45 acres of land and is still a working olive farm with 350 olive trees.
The houses on the property are all artfully and tastefully furnished and decorated with careful attention to detail. Every room is uniquely beautiful with impeccable feng shui. It has three yoga halls. Ganesha yoga shala has a gorgeous wooden ceiling as well as a wooden floor and is filled with light from windows on both walls as well as a skylight. It also has a lovely balcony with benches for enjoying the expansive views.
The Om dome has been dubbed the most magnificent yoga hall in Europe. The sacred geometry creates a cathedral-like space, which is awe-inspiring. The dome overlooks rolling hills, olive groves, and a ruined convent. Inside, the dome boasts underfloor heating and cooling and two long walls for practicing inversions. The walls have been beautifully decorated with colorful murals of Indian gods and Tibetan imagery.
The dome can comfortably hold 60 people practicing yoga and a lot more for concerts and other events. Both of the yoga spaces are fully outfitted with yoga props. Apart from three gorgeous yoga halls, Suryalila Retreat Centre boasts a saltwater swimming pool, eco sauna or sweat lodge, and views of the most magnificent and vibrant sunsets.
There at Suryalila, the staffs have cats, peacocks, chickens, horses, and the neighbors' dogs often come onto the property so it is best to leave your pets at home. There are also hunters in the area at different times of years.
In many wisdom traditions around the world, there is an understanding of the balance between striving and acceptance. And this balance allows you to be in your natural state of joy and health. Whenever the energy (known as chi, prana, lom, lung, or life force) is stagnant, deficient, or excessive, the physical body is affected, and consequently the emotional body is also affected, or it might also be vice versa.
Through this retreat, you will develop a close relationship with your own physical body, which will allow you to follow the body's wise guidance towards healing. Within each of you lies the key to your healing.
As traditional medicine is opening its doors to ancient healing arts, now there is a great opportunity to integrate the concepts of meridians from Chinese medicine, the power of herbs from ancient Greek medicine, and massage and steam, as well as integrative breath work and holistic healing yoga born from the Taoist and Ayurvedic tradition.
You will also develop body awareness and release old stored patterns using osteopathy, cranio-sacral, and biodynamic concepts. Last but not least, you will employ the mindful practice of meditation from the Buddhism.
The aim of this week is to offer a variety of tools to take back home that can facilitate the healing process. You will be given a manual where all the practices and lectures will be shared, including the therapeutic yoga poses that you will practice each day on the retreat, the name and properties of each herb used for the herbal cleanse teas and for the hot herbal compresses, different meditations, and qi gong or tai chi exercises, etc.
On day four, there will be a cleansing day. You will only do a gentle therapeutic practice in the morning and a lying meditation. The rest of the day will be for resting and relaxing in the sauna and swimming pool. You will do a belly releasing massage and there will be a special day of cleansing food. On day five, after breakfast, there will be a free day to visit some of the interesting local attractions.
This retreat will take place in Suryalila Yoga Retreat Centre, Andalusia, Spain. Suryalila Yoga Retreat Centre is the perfect place where you can find the pace to move into healing. It is located in the heart of the Spanish Andalusian hills, close to the charming villages of Arcos de la Frontera and Prado del Rey.
On the edge of a stunning mountainous national park, the property sits in a large river valley overlooking agricultural land and in the far distance, the white lakeside village of Bornos. Suryalila is nestled serenely in a large open valley in the foothills of the Sierra de Grazelema. This majestic mountain range can be seen looming large on the horizon behind Suryalila.
A striking part of the natural beauty of the property is the breathtaking vista extending in all directions, rolling hills, fields of sunflowers, and lakes. The sense of vastness and expansiveness is very uplifting.
