This program is specially designed to introduce and integrate Ayurveda into your new or existing yoga practice and daily life while enjoying the stunning paradise island of Hvar, Croatia. Unterkunft

The Suncokret Villa is a shared home and community setting in which cottage communal areas, including bathrooms, lounges, balconies, terraces, etc. are shared between guests and hosts alike, along with life stories and special moments. A spiritual, “shabby-chic”, Dalmatian island farm-cottage ambiance prevails, and the atmosphere here is that of a supportive family of spiritually minded friends. Snehana Ayurveda welcomes you to be a part of it!

There are six restored character rooms that are available for double occupancy where bed sizes include either double or single. Specific room bookings will be first come first serve or on special request. There are limited private room options available on request at an added cost.

Snehana Ayurveda Yoga Retreat Croatia Program

This retreat covers inspiring, educational, and practical workshops include Ayurvedic philosophy, foundation principles, nutrition, application to yoga, and daily routine. All the while, weaving the teachings of Ayurveda into your local adventure to explore the culture and nature of the Island Hvar on the edge of the Adriatic Sea. With your personal Ayurveda workbook that will be provided, you will learn to make a personal diet plan, yoga practice plan, and daily self-care routine that fit into your unique lifestyle so you can take your retreat experience home with you or wherever you go on your next adventure!

This retreat is designed if you are

  • Feeling that you don’t have the time, energy or tools to maintain balance, energy, connection or inspiration to be the most of who you really are
  • Looking for alternative and creative ways to find better balance, connection, and inspiration in your daily life
  • A yoga practitioner or teacher looking for another tool to advance your practice and teachings
  • Interested in learning about Ayurveda and how to apply it to your yoga practice, food choices and/or daily life
  • Willing to create your very own Ayurvedic lifestyle plan to take home and implement
  • All while exploring some local nature and cultural adventures in the renowned Island of Hvar, Croatia where there are winding stone streets between 13th-century castles and spectacular beaches on the edge of the Adriatic Sea

Sunday (Arrivals and retreat starts)

Your retreat journey starts on Sunday afternoon with complimentary pickup service from the Stari Grad port and check-in starting at 16:45. A welcome snack awaits you on arrival and you will have time to settle in. Dinner and welcome circle are scheduled in the evenings, along with an informal walking tour of the beautiful village. Snehana Ayurveda is looking forward to having you join them on a magical retreat journey at Suncokret!

Saturday (retreat conclusion and departures)

Morning for closing circle, sharing reflections and feedback, breakfast, Karma yoga for check out, and then, departure for Stari Grad Port at 10:45.

Ager and beach getaway

Enjoy a safari ride through the amazing UNESCO-protected Stari Grad Plain, or “Ager”, where you will catch sight of ancient fields and vineyards that date back over 2000 years, with perhaps a stop to climb an ancient field house, pick some wild herbs or flowers, or visit the vineyard and olive grove. The tour ends at Soline Beach Resort, which features a restaurant, cafe, bathrooms, and showers beside a busy family beach. Stunningly beautiful “naturist-friendly” coves and bays are a short walk away.

Fisherman’s village and beach gem

Stop off at Vrboska, a quaint fisherman’s village with historical footbridges, impressive early-Croatian churches, and fortress set along a colorful marina with several cafes and restaurants. From here, stroll along the coast till you reach Soline Beach (a favorite spot for afternoon yoga) for another glorious day of relaxation, sea, and sun! As an alternative, Snehana Ayurveda sometimes visits Zorace or Milna Villages instead; each location offering a quiet seaside village with inspiring bays to enjoy.

Hvar Town and beaches plus sunset safari

Spend the day in world-famous Hvar Town, a “living museum” where you can visit a multitude of historic and cultural treasures, browse through a variety of fancy boutiques and shops, or people-watch in a stylish cafe along the famous square or harbor promenade. You might even catch a glimpse of a celebrity or two! Then, walk over to a town cove for a dip in the crystal clear sea or perhaps hop onto a taxi boat for an excursion to the Pakleni Archipelago, for an exotic extension to Hvar’s beach-life culture.

Sandra Wohlers (E-RYT200, RYT500) is an Ayurvedic lifestyle and yoga coach who is dedicated to bringing balance into her own life and the lives of others through the integration of Ayurveda into the diet, exercise, yoga, and daily routine that is based on each individual. She started the practice of yoga over 12 years ago and did her first 200-hour YTT in 2012 with Yandara Yoga Institute, Mexico. She has since completed over 700 hours of yoga teacher training that has included Hatha, Vinyasa, and Yin style, both in Mexico and India.

Retreat Ort

Dol Sveta Ana is often compared to Provence and Tuscany, with its sprawling vineyards, noble olive groves, fragrant lavender plantations, fertile fields, and charming stone cottages, so eloquently framed by the distant blue sea and open sky. The village is brought to life by the colorful sounds of friendly sun-kissed locals and their range of hearty farm animals going about their day-to-day lives. Located only minutes away from the island's major attractions, yet peacefully tucked away from bustling tourist towns, St. Ana provides an ideal escape from ordinary life to an extraordinary organic haven.

Villa surroundings and ambiance

Snehana Ayurveda's complex of semi-attached stone villas is nestled into a secluded corner of Dol, Sveta Ana. The retreat neighborhood remains unpopulated much of the year, providing deep peace and tranquility for our guests. During summer months, however, the village tends to fill up with holidaymakers, including natives taking up residence in their ancestral summer cottages that have been in the family for generations. The atmosphere becomes a more vibrant one, a true immersion into authentic village lifestyle on Hvar.

Verpflegung

Residential guests are offered half-board (i.e. two meals per day) as part of the Foundational Retreat and Co-Hosted Events program package. The meals are predominantly made up from fresh, organic, locally produced island ingredients, and are prepared and served with love and simplicity.

A light welcome snack of fresh seasonal fruit and nuts (or perhaps local cheese, bread, and spreads) awaits you on arrival, followed by a dinner and welcome circle in the evening.

From Monday to Friday, Snehana Ayurveda serves a beautiful brunch in the garden post-yoga practice. Brunch usually consists of fresh seasonal fruit, nuts, warm and cold cereals, fresh farm eggs, local bread and / or pastries, veggie and cheese spreads, yogurt and milk, organic rice or almond milk, and, quite possibly, tasty left-overs from the previous night’s dinner (Snehana Ayurveda doesn’t believe in letting precious quality food go to waste).

Dinner, served Monday to Thursday, usually consists of a soup and salad starter, followed by the main dish. Dinner is not served at the retreat on Friday evenings, but guests have the opportunity to enjoy a celebratory dinner together in an authentic Dalmatian restaurant, either prior or post the scheduled sunset safari outing (timing varies according to the time of year and the group’s wishes).

A self-service breakfast buffet is offered on Saturday mornings prior to the closing circle and 10:45, checkout time to ensure that you depart from the retreat well nourished for your journey ahead.

Anreise

Arrival by ferry

There are so many ways to travel to Hvar Island via various destinations within Croatia and from abroad. For Europen travelers, the most direct and easy way to reach Snehana Ayurveda is to fly to Split and take the ferry direct to Stari Grad. Please get yourself to Stari Grad Port where the transfer will pick you up on May 27, 2018.

Next to the ferry, bus, train, or taxi station are ticket booths for Jadrolinija, the ferry company, where you can buy your ferry tickets. Alternatively, you can buy your ticket at the booth in the ferry terminal itself or online.

Arrival by bus

A bus operated by Croatia Airlines departs from just outside the terminal door. You buy the ticket from the driver 30 HRK (4 EUR). It takes about 30 minutes to get to the city center. There is also a local bus that goes to the bus station in Split to and from Trogir every 20 minutes from a stop on the road in front of the airport terminal. The price of the ticket is approximately the same.

Arrival by taxi

A taxi to Split costs about 250 to 300 HRK (33 to 40 EUR). You can book a taxi online. Getting to the Ferry Port from the taxi or bus station: The airport bus stop is just next to the old town. From there, you can see the ferry a short walk away.
