Are you longing to dive deeper into your spiritual practice? This retreat is a special opportunity for dedicated or curious practitioners of yoga and / or meditation to strengthen your own practice - whatever ‘practice’ means to you. A comprehensive schedule of daily yoga and meditation, breath and mind-body practices, deep relaxation with Yoga Nidra, philosophical as well as practical foundations for meditation will help you pierce through layers and experience profound inner peace. Explore the depth of your awareness. Practice intention, focus, and letting go. Lay the groundwork for clarity, bliss, and equanimity, and practice embodying your most aligned self within a like-minded, supportive and compassionate Sangha. The retreat resort is carefully chosen to support this inner experience. It is beautifully located on a hillside at the northern rim of the Alps. The peaceful surroundings help you reconnect with nature and with your own calm inner presence.
The retreat offers single, two, three, and four-bed rooms, all simple, bright, and comfortable with wash basin and several shared bathrooms.
In the same building, the lovely spacious yoga room, including yoga mats, meditation cushions, chairs and blankets is exclusively available for your use throughout the retreat (daytime). That is, you may use the room in your free time if you wish to, for warming up ahead of class or for silent alone time.
You will also have access to a very cozy library for quiet leisure time, as well as outdoor recreation areas like the roof covered terrace with chairs and a few benches in nature.
The retreat includes 11 days (10 nights) of lodging in single or shared rooms, nourishing vegetarian full board, and a comprehensive schedule of daily yoga and meditation, breath and mind-body practices, deep relaxation with Yoga Nidra, philosophical as well as practical foundations for meditation.
You will begin by creating a safe and sacred space of acceptance and compassion within the group. There are no expectations on you other than kindness and openness - the intention is simply to create trust and let the group energy support and energize your practice.
Through philosophy and practice, the blend of ancient wisdom with modern insights on mind-body-energy health is designed to empower your personal practice, helping you return home confident and committed to unify your work and to embody your most aligned self.
As you dig deep into focused awareness, intention, clarity, stability, one-pointedness, and joy in the continual process of going inward, you prepare yourselves to access the equanimity and bliss that exists within.
All days include the following elements, although exact times and practices may vary. Allow your practice, intentions and goals to evolve and deepen throughout the retreat.
The new day begins in silence. You will wake up with guided pranayama, silent meditation, visualization practice and / or mantra meditation. After meditation, let the vegetarian breakfast buffet nourish you for the day ahead!
This first meal is enjoyed in silence, a mindfulness practice to celebrate the experience of being. If new to this practice, you may be surprised to find how rich a silent meal can feel!
Back in the light-flooded yoga room, a lecture or a Satsang (open discussion) or lecure is given on foundations for meditation. The lectures cover a wide range of topics, all related to empowering your practice with wisdom, understanding, skill, and compassion. Yogic teachings are primarily from the lineage of Traditional Yoga of the Himalayan Masters; an original and complete source of yogic wisdom including all the limbs and aspects of yoga. These teachings are thoughtfully blended with modern insights about body-mind correlation, effects of meditation, the physical world and your relationship with it, and much more.
The lecture is followed by an invigorating yoga session. Find your focus, feel your alignment in new detail, balance your mind, strengthen your nervous system, and uncover your own inner stability, equipoise and grace.
After yoga, the delicious lunch buffet is served! Free from all hurry - there will now be free time to enjoy the beautiful area, meditate or rest.
The late afternoon offers a restorative yoga meditation session to integrate the day’s learning deep into your body. Let go, relax, and rejuvenate.
Dinner will again be served as a wholesome vegetarian buffet. Relish in each other’s presence and in the insights and breakthroughs of the day.
You will end the day with a deep silent meditation, either Yoga Nidra or a guided sitting meditation, allowing your being profound restoration and deepening your practice.
This is an in-depth program with a possibility of profound transformation. The safe retreat environment may enable deep-seated blockages to finally move out of your being. The power of focused intention and awareness of the group intensifies your shared experience and empowers your personal practice.
Satya Mountain Yoga hopes that you may return to your everyday life with this expanded awareness, integrating the insights and tools you discovered for yourself into everyday life and in your continued yogic journey.
Exact times / activities may be subject to change.
This retreat explores the deeper levels of your being through dedicated, focused practice, and study. It is suitable for those with some previous experience of yoga and meditation, who wish to strengthen their practice for long-term benefit. An ability to take certain asanas or sit cross-legged on the floor is not a prerequisite. It is also not required (though recommended) to attend all classes.
If weather permits, you may enjoy one to two optional hikes together directly from the retreat house. These could take between 30 minutes to two hours, and may follow easy roads or take on steep terrain paths that require sturdy shoes.
Please note that participating on any hikes (or indeed in any part of the program) is not required. Come along if you enjoy hiking and savour the views over Allgäu and the Alps!
Sandra Ehlers is a Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher devoted to inner expansion and awakening. Her teaching and personal practice include all the limbs of traditional yoga, including the wisdom path of yoga, asana, mindfulness, meditation, and yoga Nidra practice to help you reconnect with your body, energy, and inner layers and allow your inner wisdom to emerge. Sandra's teaching style is soft, firm and calm, emphasizing self-honesty, self-compassion, inner courage, and trust in your own experience and in your ability to lean into joyful awareness.
The retreat resort is peacefully tucked away on a hillside above Immenstadt, with a view to southern Allgäu, Grünten, and the main chain of the Alps. The house is surrounded by forest and wildflower meadows, where you will practice mindfulness as part of the program.
Note that Riederalp lies within the Nagelfluhkette Nature Reserve. From Immenstadt, an easy 30-minute hike is required (a common hike from the train station will be arranged). This means that although Immenstadt is a popular hiking and outdoor destination and very easy to reach in summer, once you arrive at the retreat resort you will be alone with nature.

Nourishing your body with wholesome food is an important element to support healing and transformation - while delicious taste is equally important to feel nourished within your inner experience!
The vegetarian (main dish largely vegan) food is prepared with love and intention by the retreat staff, using local, seasonal, and organic ingredients where possible. If you have special dietary requirements, please reach out to Satya Mountain Yoga before the retreat.
All meals, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, are served as a buffet to help you tailor the food to your preferences. It is also possible to save a meal (or part of it) for later, if you for whatever reason (i.e. yoga sessions) cannot eat at the scheduled time.
Tea, coffee, and fruit is always available for you. Please note that bringing any food or drink (except water) to the bedrooms, the yoga room, or the library is prohibited! Use the common rooms or sit outside to enjoy your snacks or drink.
There are several options for hiking directly from the house, from short 30-minute walks to half day tours like Mittagberg or Grosser Alpsee by Immenstadt. With enough time, you can walk around the lake or take a dip in Kl. Alpsee nearby!
Mittagberg is part of the Nagelfluhkette, where you can hike along a long, scenic ridge over many summits. It's possible to start from Hochgratbahn lift station above Oberstaufen, and follow the ridge north-east. The hike offers beautiful panoramas over Bregenzer Wald, exciting Via Ferratas, as well as botanical diversity.
There are many other outdoor possibilities in the region - Allgäu is well known for its picturesque valley and mountain hiking. Reach out if you have specific questions for planning.
