During this training, you will be accommodated at the nearby guest house. The guest house is the only three-minute walking distance from the school. Both single and shared rooms are available, each with its own private bathroom. The rooms are clean, airy, and simple. Both the school as well as the guest house are located in a quiet and safe residential area. There are supermarkets, fruits and vegetable stores, juice shops, and restaurants nearby.

Towels and sheets are provided by the guest house. You have the option of hand-washing your clothes or, for a small fee, the guest house can provide a laundry service. The cost is typically around 20 INR per item.

Santosa Yoga School is set in virgin surroundings in Kerala, which is the greenest part of India and much so is Varkala as the southwest monsoon starts here. The Yoga Shala is nestled in between coconut and banana plantations.

Varkala is characterized by wide, clean roads and friendly, welcoming people. Accommodation is close to the yoga shala and the ocean is 3 minutes walking distance from the accommodation.

Verpflegung

Three vegetarian meals are provided each day, as well as tea and filtered water for drinking. The food served at the school is sattvic, meaning balanced and specifically for yogis. Dishes contain mostly seasonal foods, fruits, dairy products, nuts, seeds, oils, ripe vegetables, legumes, whole grains, and non-meat based proteins. No onion, garlic or mushrooms are used. You will feel satisfied and nourished after each meal.

Anreise

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Trivandrum International Airport (TRV). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request.

From the airport, you can take a pre-paid taxi or auto-rickshaw directly to the school (around 42 kilometers away from the same). The pre-paid taxi booth is situated near the exit as you come through arrivals.

The transit time from the international airport to the Yoga Shala is just one and a half hours when compared to Rishikesh (9 hours) and Mysore (5 hours). Santosa Yoga School is located around 700 meters from the ocean. The Shala is also easily accessible to many restaurants, hotels and guest houses, fruits stores, convenience stores, and supermarkets.

Arrival by bus

Varkala, where the school is located, is 45 kilometers from Trivandrum. The Trivandrum Bus Station is located across the street from the Trivandrum Central Railway Station. Take the bus to the Varkala and get off at the Varkala Junction stop. From here take an auto-rickshaw to the school.

Arrival by train

The school is approximately one and half hours drive from Trivandrum Central Railway station (45 kilometers). Prepaid taxis are available at the airport, and prepaid auto-rickshaws and taxis are outside the Central Railway Station. Or bus service is available

Trivandrum Central Station is connected by rail to all main cities in India. All the local trains will stop at Varkala railway. Auto-rickshaws and taxis are outside the Varkala Railway Station(6 kilometers) or Santosa Yoga School can arrange to meet you.

When you reach the Trivandrum stop, you can take another local train to Varkala station. You are advised to book rail tickets early. Trains are usually fully booked near the time of travel. Train e-tickets can be booked up to three months in advance via the internet.
