During this yoga teacher training, you will delve deeply into all aspects of yogic life. Each aspect of the course is interwoven to create a holistic and thorough grounding in yoga. To support and grow your asana practice, you will learn multiple styles of yoga: Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and therapeutic yoga.

Crucial theoretical knowledge of anatomy will be shared with you, which will give you the insight and understanding of the body and how the various parts perform during yoga poses. Additionally, it will complement the understanding of therapeutic yoga and how to heal. Guru Mahi himself inspects the progress of every student and identifies the right time when a student is ready for more complex asana and the next level of yoga.

The teachings are not limited to just the transmission of theory but are, in fact, a process for illuminating the soul. Yoga philosophy sessions are provided to discuss and aid you in opening your mind and there is always a teacher willing to answer any questions. As you come to understand the philosophy, you will delve deeply into the powerful practices of meditation and pranayama, the subtler aspects of the yogic life.

To complement yoga, you will also be introduced to Ayurveda, the ancient medicine system of India. Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word meaning the science of life. It goes hand in hand with yoga, as one is a discipline and the other is the practice of that discipline. With this knowledge, you will enhance your practice and help others overcome physical problems.

This course, as described by the Yoga Alliance, will empower you to get the basic understanding of yoga asana, coupled with guidance for yoga teacher training, enabling you to pass on this knowledge to your students in the right fashion. The course helps you go beyond the theory and the asana to understand the realm of yoga, which in its true meaning aims to unify the mind and the body.

At Sadguru Yoga, the teaching environment is completely interactive. You are encouraged to ask any and every question you may have about the asana technique and even the implication of a particular asana in the overall practice. In practical sessions, teachers pay attention to every student and ensure that the asanas are being done in the right posture, style, and spirit.

There are theoretical sessions, too, in which the teachers explain the fundamentals of the human body and how each asana makes a difference to your body. Special sessions are held by Guru Mahi, in which he talks about the origin and reason for various asanas. Attention is also paid to how the students learn and teach yoga.

Upon completion of your 200-hour course, you will be a fully qualified yoga teacher and awarded a certificate of completion of the course. You will be able to apply for Yoga Alliance certification and significantly improve your chances of getting a better paying job.

Anatomy and physiology

Anatomy is the study of how the body is made up and physiology is the study of the systems in the body that help it function. These classes help build a foundation of knowledge about the human body, its constitution, and its composition. You will explore the 11 systems of the body.

This knowledge will allow you to build links between yoga and its effects on the physical body. The sessions will familiarize you with the different parts the body and their relation with movement and breath as the body moves in and out of the physical asana or posture.

Art of teaching

Art of teaching or teaching methodology is the focus of how to transition from being a great yoga practitioner to being able to stand in front of a class and coherently instruct yoga safely and inspirationally. How to speak in front of a class, teacher dialogues, giving instructions, qualities of a yoga teacher, teaching styles, and the four teaching techniques; instruction, demonstration, observation, and adjustment.

The technical aspects of running a class will also be covered, such as class structure, routine, teaching safely without injuries, anatomy of alignment, and the art of touch encompassing physical adjustment. Also the essential guide to setting up a yoga business will be explained: tips, ethics, advertising, and other practical workshops.

Ashtanga yoga

Ashtanga yoga means eight-limbed yoga, as outlined by the sage Patanjali in the yoga Sutras. It is in the tradition of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. The primary series one asana will be taught both in the traditional manner, true to the fixed sequence, and also broken down and explained. Ashtanga is practiced systematically and each pose prepares the body for the next, building both strength and flexibility.

The Ujjai breath and set sequencing build and increase the energy flow, allowing for the practitioner to practice in an almost meditative manner. The finishing sequence rounds off each and every Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga practice. Systematic learning steps help you get a deeper understanding of this powerful and dynamic yoga practice supported by your breath.

Hatha yoga

Hatha yoga is the original form of modern yoga from where all other styles and variations have been developed. A dedicated Hatha yoga practice strives to keep the yogi practitioner’s body healthy and free from disease in order to facilitate the more subtle purification of the mind. This deep practice creates balance and develops a very subtle awareness within the body that begins the process of cultivating the meditative state of awareness.

Pranayama, or breathing techniques, are also a very important aspect of a Hatha yoga practice. Here, you will cover the traditional asana sequence, pranayama, meditation, cleansing processes, and philosophies of Hatha yoga.


Both active and inactive meditations will be included, as well as ancient and modern techniques. Each course begins with a health check-up of every student. Individual attention is paid to students who have some physical troubles and special asana or supported variations are taught to them to overcome their problems. You will learn how to scan the body to assess and assist your own students with the aim to correct alignment, bring balance to their body, increasing well-being, and vitality.

Vinyasa yoga

Vinyasa yoga, with its creative sequencing and focus of the flow of energy, has become one of the most popular styles of yoga in the modern world. You will learn the various ways of creating sequencing for classes, incorporating flexibility, enhancing and strengthening asana while placing emphasis on the enhancement of creating and building a flow between poses.

You will also learn how to bring in the correct language to use for subtler aspects, such as pranic flow, and themes, such as chakra or intention. The breath is used as an anchor to the movement, which builds heat, assists detoxification, and creates a rhythm and flow to the practice. Vinyasa yoga is an important practice to learn due to its high demand in the current yoga world.

Yoga philosophy

Amy brings a marriage of educational skills and passion for healing into her yoga. Her interests lie in the meditative qualities of movement and yoga's innate ability to heal and renew both the mind and body. She aims to have her students leave her classes feeling centered and at peace, as well as equipping them with tools to empower their lives, whether that be recovering from an injury or increasing strength and flexibility.
Guru Mahi
Guru Mahi is the founder and lead trainer at MahiYoga. He was brought up in a family who lived by the yogic tradition, the center of life was meditation and pranayama; therefore, focusing on the spiritual development of a human. Not only family members influenced Mahi on his way. He started to practice yoga in the abbey in 1988 with monks and swamis. At his center, he teaches the therapeutical effect of asanas and their adjustments. And this is exactly what allows Mahi to use yoga as a therapeutic way of healing people with various pathologies of the body.

Retreat Ort
