All of Orion Healing Center's accommodation options are situated amidst peaceful surroundings on or within walking distance to the beach. The bungalows have sea views - either overlooking the beach or the beautiful bay of Srithanu. The area boasts private and magical beaches that feature a beautiful coral reef, perfect for exploring marine life.

The accommodation will ensure you peace and quiet during your stay. The Orion garden bungalows are located in the tropical gardens of the main Orion Healing Center campus, where swimming points are located within a 5-minute walk. Wi-Fi is available at the main center and restaurant.

Type A - Orion backpacker

This is a basic fan room with hot water shower. Choose the simple life in Orion’s basic accommodation, a rustic bamboo room, equipped with a double-sized bed, a fan, and hot water shower. Situated in Orion Healing Center’s garden, a few steps away from the restaurant, yoga halls, and herbal steam room, this room is a typical Koh Phangan backpacker bungalow.

Type C - Orion terrace

This is a standard air-conditioned room with hot water shower. Surrounded by coconut trees and plants in the second garden, this standard terrace room is equipped with air-conditioning, a fan, a queen size bed, and a hot water shower. Enjoy the tranquility while being just a short walk away from the yoga halls, restaurant, and herbal steam. You may choose the option of two twin beds or one large bed.

Type D - Orion sunset

This is an air-conditioned room with hot water shower and garden or sea view. Choose a room with a sea view, a few steps away from Orion Healing Center’s restaurant, yoga halls, and herbal steam room. The room offers air conditioning, a fan, double-sized bed, hot shower, and a balcony surrounded by beautiful plants.

Type E - Orion serenity

This room is an air-conditioned room with DVD / TV and hot water shower. Orion’s superior garden bungalow is equipped with air conditioning, a fan, queen size bed, hot water shower, and TV / DVD player. A few steps away from the restaurant, yoga hall, and herbal steam room, this room offers a large balcony with cushions and table and is surrounded by beautiful plants.

Type F - Orion zen

This room is an air-conditioned room with DVD / TV, living area, and hot water shower. Treat yourself with Orion Healing Center’s best room surrounded by beautiful trees and flowers. On this retreat, you will be able to find and create your own schedule. You can mix and match from all style of classes to be more intensive or restorative. The physical practice will be complemented with meditation, yoga philosophy, yogic sleep classes, and Nidra yoga.

Each day, the experienced instructors can guide you on a profound journey both physically, energetically, and psychologically. They will direct you to the right classes for your level of practice and assist you along the way.

The schedules are created for you to discover, deepen, and experience the world of yoga. You can choose any classes and create your very own schedule according to your level of energy on any given day. It is a time for you to move and breathe at your own pace. The aim is for you to relax and discover your style, teacher, and practice.

All of the instructors are available for one on one sessions. They will help you to understand the change and shift that can happen within your body and mind throughout your stay. In the evening, satsangs (open spiritual talks), Kirtan (devotional singing), movie nights, and many other activities are also offered.

Ashtanga

Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga is the traditional style of Hatha yoga popularized and redesigned by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915 - 2009) in the lineage of Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya. It has derived its roots from an ancient text called the 'Yoga Korunta' written by Vamanarishi and leads the practitioners to understand the 8 limbs of Ashtanga yoga of Patanjali.

The main components of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga are drishti (gaze), bandhas (locks), and pranayama (ujjayi breathing) named as Trishtana. In this practice of yoga, breath is synchronized with the movement, which is called Vinyasa, and its purpose is cleansing, producing internal profound heat and a profuse sweat that detoxifies the organs and muscles.

Dynamic Hatha

Dynamic Hatha in Orion Healing is an intermediate class which focuses on deep breathing, stretching, and soft internal focus. Combining elements of Hatha and Vinyasa Flow in a fusion, this is a fresh approach to the modern-day yoga class. This is a foundational yoga practice with a graceful yet fast-paced rhythm.

Classes can vary depending on the instructors. The standard program consists of Monday to Friday set sequences designed by the resident yoga instructor, Ben Makosch. His daily changing sequences can offer you strength and balance. Be prepared to move, sweat, and be adjusted.

Hatha yoga

Orion Healing’s Hatha yoga classes seek to bring you beyond the physical body (annamaya kosha) and into contact with the more subtle energies of being. Classes combine static alignment based Hatha poses, graceful flows, pranayama, meditation, mudras, awareness of the chakra system, and weave the wisdom of the Yoga Sutras and other ancient texts among the asanas.

In the class, you will be encouraged to hold postures long enough to become aware of the internal movements of your body and mind. This style of teaching is from the heart and celebrates flexibility of the mind above flexibility of the body. The Hatha yoga classes are suitable for beginners as well as more experienced practitioners seeking a slower alignment-focused practice.

Detox yoga

Relax your body and mind with an inner smile. This is a slow and gentle Hatha yoga class for people on the detox program. A gentle warm up of the body and gentle asanas (yoga postures) are practiced sitting or lying down for 1 - 2 minutes each. The detox yoga is a slow Hatha class open to everyone at all levels.

The class will be focusing on pranayama, the connection with the breath, and on meditation. The asanas are detox-oriented, so the instructors will guide you to get into the postures and adjust you if needed. You will be able to work on your digestive system, blood circulation, and endocrine system so your body can eliminate toxins more easily. Nadine will bring you in a quiet and balanced state of mind to help you through your emotional journey of detoxification.

Meditation

The instructors will lead meditators of any experience level through various techniques and exercises in concentration. Meditation can help you to reduce stress, depression, and anxiety while encouraging a healthier lifestyle.

Nidra yoga

In Nidra yoga classes, you will lie down in Shavasana (corpse pose) for an hour and are guided to a place of deep relaxation. In this state of softness, somewhere between wakefulness and sleep, the mind becomes deeply receptive. From here, you are vocally guided along a journey deep into the subconscious, encouraged to let go of anything that no longer serves you and to set intentions for the manifestations you wish to attract into your lives.

You will be further gently taken beyond the definitions of name, gender, and ethnicity to remember the magic of your divine origin. One hour of Nidra yoga is equivalent to four hours of sleep. Nidra yoga helps with insomnia, anxiety, high blood pressure, and is used in the treatment of life-threatening diseases. This deeply powerful practice allows you to unravel limiting patterns and recode your mind and body with healing visualizations and loving affirmations.

Yoga philosophy

The yoga philosophy classes are held to a minimum of three times per week. In these hour long classes, the instructors will explain various yogic philosophy topics such as panca kosa the five bodies, Patanjali’s yoga sutras, what is Tantra, the three gunas, and many more. Fun, engaging, and mind opening, the classes are here for all yogis wishing to gain a deeper understanding of all aspects of the practice.

Yin yoga

Yin is a very quiet and passive style of yoga in which seated or lying postures are held for long periods of time without muscular activity. The Yin yoga classes are generally held at sunset as the light fades to dusk and the candles slowly illuminate the shala. Yin yoga is about surrendering into the poses. It is a practice of letting go while releasing tension in connective tissues and fascia where your traumas are stored.

Physical tensions are the manifestations of traumas. You will be still, be in the moment, relax, and release those tensions while holding the asanas for about five minutes each. You can use straps, cushions, and blocks to deeply relax in whatever variation of the posture is most comfortable for you. All levels are welcomed in the Yin yoga classes.

Arial yoga

This is a gentle class focusing on spinal decompression and pain relief, but also core strengthening, balance, and alignment with the aid of a comfortable, padded swing. Total beginners and those with injuries are welcomed to join, as no previous yoga experience is required. The class is mostly simple poses that anyone can do. It is a mix of traditional yoga, Pilates, and physical therapy.

With traction and inversion techniques, you can take pressure off the bones, discs, and nerves to relieve pain and realign the spine. Then, you can build up the muscles with back and core exercises to support long-term rehabilitation. The swings support the body weight, which allows you to hold poses longer, focus on alignment, and achieve advanced asanas with little effort. Aerial is famous for inversions or hanging upside down, but this is just a short part of the class at the end.

Kirtan

Kirtan is a very different kind of music. Based on ancient chants, it has the ability to quiet the mind if listened to with intention. Everyone experiences kirtan differently and it does not have to be a religious experience. You can think of it as a sing-along. The wallah (leader) sings the mantra and the audience sings it back. As you sing with each other, you experience a deep connection with the musicians, the other audience members, and yourself. When the music stops, your mind is quiet.

Meditative Tantra yoga

The meditative Tantra yoga class will take you into a deep state of relaxation and allow you to explore meditation in your practice and your life. All levels are welcomed.

You are not merely a physical body; you are a wholesome being! This is a holistic set of postures which build upon each other and allow you to flow in meditation with your eyes closed. Tantra yoga is a tool to help you connect with your inner self so that you can trust the intuition of your body and express your true nature where relaxation is the key. This asana series helps you experience and integrate this expression into your life.

Swapping his career in club management for a full-time life on the yoga mat, Ben completed an intensive 500-hour Hatha yoga teacher training in Thailand and began his teaching journey.

    Swami Pujan (Stephan Kahlert) is a German-born psychologist who studied yoga philosophy (Jnana yoga) in India and Australia for many years. He received the title of “Swami” after initiation with his teacher, Bhagavan Shree Rajneesh, who is a world-renowned spiritual guide and teacher from Puma, India. Through his first teacher, he continues to transmit the message that spirituality is a joyful journey, filled with passion and the celebration of life.     Kat yoga journey started 16 years ago when she fell in love with the practice in Austin, Texas. She moved to New York City in 2005 to continue practicing and training with some of the yoga’s greatest teachers in the Big Apple including Leslie Kaminoff, Schuyler Grant, Dana Flynn, Amanda Smith, and Ariel Karass. The meals are prepared by the famous Orion Café restaurant. Orion Café offers a large variety of vegan meals (with the exception of raw yogurt and honey, also available for the non-vegans). The cafe specializes in traditional Thai dishes, Indian sets, gourmet raw food, salads, vegan comfort food, burgers, sandwiches, and raw desserts.

The cafe also serves healthy and vibrant vegetarian meals including raw and living food, superfood, whole food, Sattvic-yogic, and Thai vegetarian cuisine. The foods are prepared in a way which keeps the highest energy level of all ingredients. These foods help to deepen your spiritual practices and many of the teas, juices, and dishes are designed to enhance the detoxing process. This is a great place for those who are transitioning to a vegetarian diet.

The cafe also use organic vegetables and ingredients as much as possible from the private garden, local markets, and special ingredients sourced from all over the world. It only uses mineral-rich natural salts, unrefined whole sugar, raw honey, mineral-rich maple syrup, fine cold-pressed oils, unrefined wheat, organic local brown rice, organic local soybeans, high-quality Japanese miso and shouyu (soy sauce). For cooking, ghee or local rice bran oil which has a high smoking point are used.

The organic raw nuts are mostly prepared by soaking and dehydrating, so they are more nutritious and all the enzymes are activated. The super smoothies, raw dishes, and raw sweets are very innovative and nutritious that you will have a new experience of tasting raw foods. All sprouted seeds, grains, nuts, and rice are prepared in the kitchen. Reverse osmosis filtered water for washing ingredients and cooking are applied.

In addition, the foods do not use any GMO (genetically modified organism) products and sauces containing MSG (monosodium glutamate), artificial additives, colorings, preservatives, and flavorings. All dressings, mayonnaise, and ketchup are home made.

Driving directions from Thong Sala Pier

  • From Thong Sala, drive straight ahead.
  • Take a 6-kilometer drive to Srithanu Beach.
  • Take a short walk along the beach road and you will see a Thai restaurant named Ladda and J & P massage shop.
  • It is a way to go to the Moon Moon Resort, about 100 meters you'll see the Orion Healing Center on the right before the hill.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Samui Airport (USM) or Surat Thani Airport (URT).

From Bangkok, you can arrive at Samui Airport (USM). Between Bangkok and Koh Samui, there are many daily services ran by Bangkok Airways. The flight time is about 1 hour. Afterward, you can get a connecting ferry from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan.

Alternatively, you can book your flight to arrive at Surat Thani Airport (URT) (the closest mainland point) that has a ferry connection to Koh Phangan. Air Asia, Nok Air, and Lion Air all fly from Bangkok to Surat Thani daily, the flight time is about 1 hour.

The transfer from Surat Thani Airport (URT) to Donsak ferry port is by coach or taxi and takes about 1 and a half hours. At Donsak, transfer to the ferry to Koh Phangan, which takes 2.5 hours. Prices for flights can be as low as 1200 THB.

Arrival by bus

There are many bus services from Bangkok to Koh Phangan. Most of these are sleeper buses. They can be booked from travel agencies in Bangkok or by going to the central bus station, Sia Thai. The journey to Donsak, the ferry port for boats to Koh Phangan, takes about 10 hours. From Donsak, the journey takes around 3 hours to Koh Phangan. Usually, the ferry is included in the price of the bus.

Arrival by ferry / boat

Below is the ferry schedule from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan. Please note that the times may vary seasonally.

  • The Seatran ferry leaves Koh Samui at 8 a.m., 12.30 p.m., and 3 p.m.
  • The Lomprayah ferry leaves Koh Samui at 8 a.m., 11.15 a.m, 12:30 p.m., and 5 p.m.

The Seatran pier is located near Samui Airport (USM), approximately a 10-minute drive, and the Lomprayah pier is located a 50-minute drive from the airport. Please take this into consideration when booking the rest of your journey. Ferries arrive in Koh Phangan at Thong Sala Pier.

From Samui Airport (USM), there is a shuttle service to the ferry ports for Koh Phangan (this is usually available as a free service). Please ask for this service when you purchase the ticket for the ferry at the Seatran or Lomprayah ferry counter as you exit Samui Airport (USM).

Arrival by train

Trains leave Bangkok several times daily, the journey time is about 12 hours, sleeping booths are available for some services. After leaving the train at Surat Thani, the transfer by coach or taxi from Surat Thani station to Donsak Pier takes about 1 and a half hours. From Donsak, the ferry journey to Koh Phangan takes 3 hours.

There are 2 companies that run luxury coach services from Bangkok to Chumphon, which take about 6 hours. At Chumphon, you transfer to a large express boat that stops at Koh Tao before arriving at Koh Phangan. The boat journey from Chumphon to Koh Phangan takes about 2 and a half hours.

Arrival by taxi

Local taxis are available from Thong Sala Pier. Please inform the taxi to go to Orion Healing Center in Srithanu. The taxi fare is approximately 200-300 THB per person.
