In this yoga teacher training course, you will be provided with clean rooms, bedding, and attached Western-style toilets with hot and cold water. Om Yoga Ashram is glad to say that they now have the second floor in the ashram for their yoga teacher training students.

From now onward, none of the students would have to stay in a hotel and everyone would stay in ashram which is facilitated with spacious 15 rooms with waterfall and mountain view. Each student can now have the privilege to feel the energy of nature bliss.

Om Yoga Ashram Yoga Teacher Training in India Program

This program follows a tight schedule where almost each of the six to seven training hours in the day is assigned to some aspect of yoga. You could find the training intensive but enlightening. Depending on the yoga ashram the mornings can begin as early as 5:30 a.m. with meditation followed by some yoga postures and maybe some classes or lectures in philosophy or anatomy. Chanting and pranayama are also part of the schedule.

Daily written homework is also the norm as that is how you will gain in-depth knowledge of the subject. Sleeping early is encouraged as that is part of yogic practice.

200-hour yoga teacher training curriculum

  • Study of asana (proper alignment, variations, and modifications with ability to minimize the risk of injuries and hands-on adjustments)
  • Art of sequencing and improvisation in the class
  • Observation with specific angles related to a posture
  • Intelligent use of props to help improve practice at its early stages
  • Cultivation of command through voice modulations
  • Postures with their Sanskrit names and terminology
  • Confidence-building through practice teaching
  • Principles of anatomy-physiology and its correlation with yogic science.
  • Yoga philosophy and ideas
  • Spirituality and ethics with business of yoga

General rules

  • Modest dressing is mandatory during the course.
  • Silence must be maintained between 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Homework consisting of four to five answers needs to be submitted in writing the following day.
  • Classes cannot be missed except in cases of ill health.
  • An outing except on a day off is not permitted.
  • A final exam is conducted as part of the evaluation procedure.
  • Admission to this course is no guarantee that you will receive a certification.
  • In order to help in finding introversion and inner strength meals have been reduced to two per day. However herbal tea and fruit will be available.
  • Om Yoga Ashram reserves the right to disqualify any student at any given time during the course of training.
  • The schedule is subject to change if the course director deems it fit to do so.

Dr. Rashpal Yogi
From a very young age, yoga has been a passion and hobby for Rashpal. Through his life, he has incorporated meditation into his lifestyle. After completing his studies, he dedicated his life to yoga and meditation. Since 2001, he has been regularly practicing yoga and meditation. Throughout this time, he has also studied and practiced Naturopathy. Furthermore, he has also traveled throughout India and helped people to learn more about meditation, yoga, and Naturopathy, free of charge. Now he continues to pass on the knowledge he has learned, to people from all walks of life.

Retreat Ort

This retreat will be held at Dharamsala, India. It is a city in the upper reaches of the Kangra Valley and is surrounded by dense coniferous forest consisting mainly of stately deodar cedar trees. The suburbs include McLeod Ganj, Bhagsunath, Dharamkot, Naddi, ForsythGanj, Kotwali Bazaar (the main market), Kaccheri Adda (government offices such as the court, police, post, etc.), Dari, Ramnagar, Sidhpur, and Sidhbari (where the Karmapa is based).

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Kangra Airport, Gaggal (DHM).

Arrival by bus

Buses of all classes (deluxe, air-conditioned, and regular) ply daily between Dharamshala and major cities such as Chandigarh, Delhi, and Shimla. Several buses each night connect McLeodGanj with Majnu Ka Tila, the Tibetan settlement in Delhi.

Arrival by train

To reach Dharamshala by train, one has to reach Kangra, Himachal Pradesh Town by Kangra Valley Railway line from Pathankot 94 kilometers away and then take a bus or a taxi. Pathankot is a broad gauge railway head.

There is another railway line from Pathankot to Jogindernagar, a part of the Mandi District of Himachal Pradesh, which is a narrow gauge line. The nearest station to Dharamshala on this line is Chamunda Marg, half an hour away, where a Shaktipitha is. The town is well connected by road to other parts of the country.
