Your ultimate Brazilian adventure starts here. This is your opportunity to go somewhere where nature still rules and lives freely in the wild, while working towards self-development through yoga and meditation practices.
The Manati Lodge is in the Brazilian Amazon by the Negro River, deep inside the world's largest rainforest. It is a small and charming jungle lodge, with a structure resembling the houses of the local riverside inhabitants. The main module consists of standard rooms, all following the same standard of comfort and convenience. The hotel offers an intimate atmosphere, ideal for families or groups. All rooms are private with ensuite bathrooms.
The lodge roof is a highlight: in addition to being eco-friendly as it is made from recycled plastic scraps, it also acts as a thermal insulator, maintaining a mild temperature even on hotter days. The standard rooms at the lodge have private bathrooms and a shared balcony with a view of the lake, while the chalet category offers an electric shower, private balcony, amenities, and a view of the forest.
Below is what a typical day will look like. Activities may be subject to change:
The tour is conducted in regional rowing canoes (good chances of seeing monkeys, sloths, and birds). Wooden canoes are the main means of transportation for river dwellers in the region.
This is one of the most anticipated activities of the program. As night falls, you will go out by canoe, guided by the flashlight beam, where the experienced guide will take you into an atmosphere of pure enchantment and magic through the sounds of a grand orchestra formed by the croaking of frogs, owls, alligators, and various other nocturnal animals.
The diversity of Amazonian flora can be observed through this tour on one of the trails in the flooded forest or Igapó forest, which is subject to flooding during the rainy season and river-high water periods. This forest has distinct characteristics from terra firme forests.
The Amazon sunrise is among the most spectacular in the world so get ready to wake up at 5:30 AM. Yes, it's tough, but being in the Amazon, any sacrifice is worth it to admire all this beauty up close. You will depart by motorized canoe, still with the night mist and being awakened by the first rays of morning.
The pink dolphin is present in the hydrographic basins of the Rio Negro and Solimões. They are considered the most intelligent animals in the Amazon rivers. However, their survival is continuously threatened by predatory hunting. As a way to contribute to responsible tourism, this tour consists solely of observing them in their natural habitat.
Another great opportunity to experience the grandeur of the Amazon Rainforest. Watching the sunset on the Rio Negro is a true exercise in contemplation, an unforgettable experience where you will literally disconnect from the world.
You will get to know the flour house, or the "flour shed". Due to the acidity of the Rio Negro waters and their consequent poverty in minerals, soil cultivation is more scarce, so cassava is an important product.
The 'terra firme' forest occurs in the higher parts of the Amazon relief, in areas not subject to flooding during the rains or periodic river floods. It is what composes the endless green carpet you see from the airplane. On this trail, the guide may find animals camouflaged high in the trees, and you will be enchanted by the diversity of thick and tall trees.
You will visit a village formed by indigenous people from various ethnic groups originating from the Upper Rio Negro region, bordering Colombia. You will get to know their culture, discover what it is like to live in an indigenous community, and learn about the history of the Rio Negro indigenous ethnic groups, and their dances and rituals.
You will learn more about their eating habits, which are composed of fish, fruits, roots, cassava flour, and ants! Don't forget to bring some money to buy their handicrafts.
