All accommodation is en-suite and spacious, with air-conditioner, a sea view and its own private terrace. There is a mini bar and a safe in each room. The rooms are cleaned daily and towels are provided.

Your yoga classes will focus on an energetic nourishing of your body, heart, and mind, building steadiness, calm, and strength in body and mind. This is to support the building of our immunity and strength (physical, mental and emotional, also spiritual). We call this strength “ojas” and it will be one of the focuses of all practices and lifestyle recommendations offered during the retreat. Ojas is held to be a source of our vitality, vigour, immunity, and longevity and it literally translates as “glow of health”. We focus on building it and it's clear from the joy and healthy glow in participants at the end of these retreats, that the environment, the lifestyle, the home grown healthy foods, and the practices all combine to build this inner strength and vitality. It’s important to spend time to replenish this essence of strength within us.

And when the moon is full and the light of the moon shines on us, we again have the perfect condition for building that inner vitality and radiance, or "ojas".

We will begin our mornings with Hatha yoga classes, and in the afternoon we will enjoy the replenishing power of Yin and Restorative yoga classes. This combination rests and strengthens the nervous system, soothes the heart and mind, and replenishes our energy reserves to build inner vigor and immunity. The best part about this is you will be practicing yoga outdoors on a yoga platform in the hotel gardens, a stone’s throw from the sea alongside a deserted unspoiled beach, with stunning views of the coast and mountains.

The yoga classes will be followed by special breathing practices, healing visualizations, and meditations, created to reinforce and build on the power of the Hatha practices, restoring positivity, and optimism to the mind.

During the night of the May 2018 full moon, under the light of the moon and at the edge of the sea, we will gather on the beach for a special full moon meditation. Sunrise and sunset beach meditations will take place most mornings and evenings. We will gather on the beach and meditate together as the sun rises over the mountains and sets over the sea.

Sample daily schedule

  • 17:30 Afternoon yoga practice
  • 19:00 Vegetarian home-cooked Cypriot-style dinner
  • 20:30 Evening sunset gathering or full moon celebrations

Please note that there won’t be any class on your arrival day. The first class will start the next morning. There will also be no planned lunch, dinner or afternoon yoga on Friday. This is to give all participants the chance to explore more of the beauty of Cyprus, or simply enjoy more time relaxing in the hotel grounds, or by the sea.

There are possible local excursions to take to the nearby museum of ancient artifacts in Polis, to the lovely shops of the small town of Polis, to Aphrodite's baths, or boat trips to the Blue Lagoon and around the Akamas peninsula.

Longer excursions may be planned for your day off to the Troodos Mountains, Jeep Eco Tour of the Akamas Peninsula, or to the ancient sites in and around Paphos. These are not included in the retreat fee. However, both Shama and the hotel and are very happy to advise and to help you organize your days out.

    Shama learned yoga from her yoga teacher, who taught her the power of the breathing practices of Hatha yoga. She spent a lot of time traveling around the globe to places such as India, Japan, Thailand, Italy, USA, Canada, and the Bahamas, where she learned from and practiced many healing and spiritual traditions, before managing an integrative health clinic in London. She took her teacher training course from Sivananda Ashram yoga retreat in the Bahamas.

You will be staying in a quiet, remote, eco-hotel, set alongside a beautiful stretch of coast in Cyprus. Here, your accommodation and yoga space look out across the sea and are surrounded by peaceful gardens, olive and orange groves, and herb gardens with mountains beyond to three sides. The tranquil, natural setting invites your whole-being to deeply relax and restore itself to balance and happiness.

Apart from the Restorative yoga classes and meditations, further nourishment is offered during this week with the lovely meals offered.. The price of this retreat includes lovingly-prepared Cypriot vegetarian meals to support your full moon practices and the intent to build your health and vitality. Foods in the hotel are made from home-grown organic produce and locally sourced produce. This means the meals are full of nutrients and easily digestible to support the healing, cleansing, and nourishment of the internal organs that your daily yoga practices will be initiating.

Breakfast is a buffet service, taken with other guests of the hotel, and includes home-made bread, preserves, yogurt, goats’ cheeses, home-grown fruits, herbal teas, and the hotel’s own free range eggs. Lunch and dinner are specially prepared for the yoga retreat participants and are 95% plant-based meals with a little optional dairy. Special dietary requirements such as gluten-free and dairy-free diets can be accommodated.

Meals are taken on the restaurant terrace with views across the gardens to the sea. In the evening, you will dine while watching spectacular sunsets as the sun starts to go down over the sea. The hotel lounge bar sells juices, water, and local wine.

Please note that only breakfast meals will be served on Fridays to allow free time for exploration.

There is a swimming pool, gym, and sauna at the hotel for your enjoyment. A 5 EUR fee is charged by the hotel for the use of the gym and sauna. The hotel provides beach towels and there are sun beds on the sea front, around the pool, and in the gardens. Bikes are available for hire, and there are also tennis courts.

In between classes and meal times, you are free to enjoy the peace and quiet of the hotel gardens and beach, or to explore the beauty, history, and culture of the surrounding area.

There is the nearby small town of Polis with its many cafes, restaurants, and shops. Nearby sites of interest include Aphrodite’s Baths and the beautiful nature reserve of the Akamas Peninsula. There are jeep tours around the Akamas nature reserve, and boat tours to the wild and deserted Lara Bay and Blue Lagoon.

A little further afield in Paphos, are wonderful archaeological sites such as Tombs of the Kings and the Paphos Mosaics.
