During this retreat, you will be staying at Littleton Mill, a 17th-century Wiltshire water mill set in ten acres of woodland and meadow on Semington Brook. Its large yoga space looks out over the water, making it the perfect venue for relaxing and rejuvenating. The Mill is run entirely on renewable energy.

In this weekend retreat you will have the opportunity to take part in cooking classes that will help you to become more creative in the kitchen. You will learn how to create meals that will be healthy, satisfying and fun to make. You will learn about macro-nutrient balance, times of the day for optimal digestion and assimilation, how stress affects digestion and why it's important to relax while eating.

You will also learn about common allergens in foods and how to easily avoid them, as well as effective ways of balancing blood sugar. All recipes will be vegetarian, and dairy and gluten-free.

More and more research is showing the important role that stress-reduction plays with illness on many levels. This weekend retreat will teach you the importance of slowing down and relaxing, and what that can mean for digestion, assimilation and energy levels.

Daily yoga classes will also be part of the program and you will have a team of professional massage therapists on hand to give a variety of treatments, including foot reflexology, deep tissue massage, Thai massage, and organic facials. Please note that massages are not included in the price of the retreat.

    Melissa spent years studying the social and environmental impacts and practices of large food, chemicals and pharmaceutical companies. Her great passions are yoga, well being and sustainable living. She has a diploma in advanced nutrition and teaches healthy eating and nutrition workshops on the retreats.

  • Rebecca Andrist

    Rebecca Andrist is the co-founder of Jiva Healing and has been running healthy eating, detox, and yoga retreats in the United Kingdom and abroad since 2004. She is a qualified nutritional adviser, yoga teacher, and massage therapist who has worked in healing centers in Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Thailand, and the United States before starting her own business.

  • Susie Hampshire

    Susie is a professional bodywork therapist with a deep interest in holistic, sports, deep tissue, and no-hands massage techniques alongside acupressure, reflexology, facials, and kinesiology. She has taught massage therapy at the Claire Maxwell-Hudson School of Massage and qualified in ITEC Nutrition and the mehta facial at the Champissage Indian Head School in London.

  • Teresa Montano

    Yoga Alliance UK (Yoga)

    Teresa Montano was a professional dancer for many years before becoming involved in yoga. Since the late 1990's, she has been studying with various teachers and traditions and is a fully qualified teacher with Yoga Alliance and Sivananda certification. Her commitment to yoga continues to expand both with her work as a qualified Thai yoga massage therapist and her ongoing studies with the Inner Yoga Trust. She is also an aquatic bodywork therapist.

This retreat will take place in Wiltshire, England, UK. Wiltshire is an ancient county of unspoiled quiet beauty. Littleton is located between the villages of Semington and Seend. The nearest towns are Trowbridge (10 minutes), Chippenham (15 minutes), Bath (20 minutes), and Melksham (5 minutes). There are numerous historic places of interest and areas of natural beauty to visit in the surrounding areas.

Littleton Mill is just a few minutes away from the Kennet and Avon canal, a great place for walking, cycling or boating.

During this retreat, you will be provided with daily healthy meals and drinks. All recipes will be vegetarian and dairy and gluten-free.

Arrival by train

Due to Littleton Mill's focus on environmental principles, you are strongly encouraged to use public transport to travel to and from the retreat. It is very easy to travel to Littleton Mill by train, with regular train lines to London operating from Chippenham (15 minutes' drive away) and Westbury (10 minutes' drive away).

Trains to Chippenham go from London Paddington and take around one hour and ten minutes. Trains to Westbury from London Paddington and London Waterloo take around one hour and a half. You can book your train online in advance to take advantage of cheaper fares. Jiva Healing can organize a taxi for you which you may be able to share with other guests.
