In Boudhanath, you will be staying at a beautiful and newly renovated guest house with beautiful views of the Stupa. The rooms are clean, modern, and each has its own bathroom. During the trek, you will have accommodations each night in mountain village guest houses, where you will have a bed and bedding. Some rooms have private bathrooms and others have shared bathrooms. Accommodations during the trek are simple, clean, and comfortable.

The trip will begin in the village of Boudhanath, about 11 kilometers from the center of Kathmandu. Boudhanath is truly an enchanting place and has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1979. It boasts one of the largest stupas in Asia, and because of the enormous influx of Tibetan refugees, is now home to over 50 Tibetan gompas, or monasteries.

You will spend five days and four nights in Boudhanath, welcomed by a traditional Buddhist Puja (ceremony of honor and devotion). For two of the days spent in Kathmandu, you will participate in part of the rebuilding project in the aftermath of the 2015 earthquake. Other days will be spent exploring the historic Patan and Thamel neighborhoods.

After Kathmandu, you will travel to the beautiful lakeside town of Pokhara. After a night of rest in a lovely guest house in Pokhara, you will embark on the five day Ghorepani Poon Hill trek. This is one of the most famous trekking routes in Nepal and is accessible for all levels. The Ghorepani trek offers a wonderful opportunity to witness the beauty of the Annapurna region is rich in hidden treasures of Nepalese culture.

The trail passes through the world’s famous ‘Gorkha warrior’ clan, the charming villages of Gurung and Magar, dense rhododendron (Nepalese national flower), oak forest full of birds, green hills, and patchwork valleys. Just about every angle offers a tantalizing glimpse of Mount Fishtail (6,993 meters), Annapurna (8,091 meters), and Dhaulagiri (8,167 meters). This is not a camping trek! You will be staying in guest or tea houses each night with beds and bathrooms. You will beresponsible for carrying your own pack, but do not need any special gear. Porters are available at an additional charge.

Overall itinerary

Arrival to Kathmandu and Boudhanath is on November 3. For the following days, you will have a one day Buddhism immersion (discourse on Buddhism from a Buddhist scholar, traditional Buddhist puja, tour of monasteries, and short presentation at Tanka school), one day of volunteer option helping to rebuild a children's home and short yoga program for the children, one day excursion to Patan neighbourhood, and one day excursion to visit Swayambunath Temple and Pashupatinath Temple.

On November 8, you will travel by private bus to Pokhara. On November 9, you begin a five day trek to Goorepani and Poon Hill. During the trek, you will wake early for pranayama and gentle stretching practice and each evening before dinner, you will have a restorative practice. Timing will depend on timing of the walking each day. On November 13, you will return to Kathmandu. November 14 is the departure day.

    Molly was introduced to yoga in 1993 in Tucson, Arizona while on a journey to keep herself healthy as a dancer. Although coming from a dance background, she connected immediately with the asana practice. Molly found herself intensely inspired to learn more about yogic philosophy. Molly’s interests in Taoism and Buddhist philosophy have shaped many of her endeavors, including her pursuit of studying traditional Chinese medicine. Molly now facilitates yoga and meditation retreats in Europe and throughout the world.

This retreat will take place in Boudhanath, Kathmandu, and Pokhara, Nepal.
