During this retreat, you will stay in a shared room with a private or a shared bathroom. The Peaceful Mountain retreat center has an easy access from major airports and cities, yet it is completely isolated from the hustle and bustle of the cities.

It offers accommodations for 20 people and features a central open air atrium meeting space, a large carpeted meeting room for multiple activities, a music room, sauna, a yoga and dance studio with hardwood floors, and a fitness room.

This retreat is a chance for you to make new friends and connect, but also have quiet time to read, relax, and rejuvenate. You will enjoy two daily yoga classes, and experience guided hiking tours in the beautiful, bug-free mountains and forests.

You will practice some breath and mindfulness meditation workshops, as well as kirtan practices to help you connect in all levels. You are invited to do as many or as little as the classes and activities as it fits you and your needs.

Kirtan

Kirtan is a call and response singing or chanting, it is an easy way to calm the mind and access higher energy vibrations. There have been many suggestions and methods offered as to how to access the higher dimensions. The use of sound vibrations will always be recommended. Sounds and sound vibration always alter consciousness. Breath and breathing techniques will allow you to travel consciously, just as meditation and many forms of yoga will support your shift.

This retreat includes guided hiking activities around the North Cascade Mountains.

  • Roy Holman

    Yoga Alliance RYT 500 (Hatha Yoga)

    Roy is a 500-hour certified yoga teacher in the Viniyoga tradition. He teaches a safe, gentle, body-friendly, grounded, breath-connected, meditative, flowing, and traditional Hatha yoga. He also teaches breath-work (pranayama) and meditation and incorporates the aspects of emotional healing and balancing. For Roy, meditation is a mindfulness style, with focus on breath awareness, heart opening, body senses, emotional clearing, and connection on all levels.

  • Liz Gross

    Liz Gross is a certified energy therapist, a vibrational medicine practitioner, and a biopulsar reflexograph analyst. She is a graduate of EarthWalk Institute of Healing Arts in Bellevue, Washington. Liz is a gifted sound and vibration healer and teaches with Roy on retreats. Liz teaches yoga, meditation, oneness, and often does some of the cooking on the retreats. She feels very passionate about vibrational medicine and loves working with others in that way.

This retreat will take place at the Peaceful Mountain retreat center in the North Cascade Mountains, Washington State, USA. Nestled in the lush evergreen foothills of spectacular Mount Baker in the North Cascades, the center is an ideal setting for opening, visioning, and creating a new direction. The octagonal center house is nestled in 26 acres of mountain field and forest with astonishing mountain and valley views.

Admire the Deception Pass

The Deception Pass is a captivating channel where the river meets the ocean in a narrow canyon that swirls and boils as it opens into the wide sea. Breathtaking views and long abandoned beaches make for deep contemplation. It is one and a half hours drive.

Discover Church Mountain and Yellow Aster Butte hike

In this tour you can stop by the Forest Service station to get maps and recommendations for the hundreds of hiking trails in the area. Take a short one and a half hours hike to a fire watch tower to view 41 snowcapped peaks, or spend the day huffing up a 2000 feet climb to dip in icy pools of melting snow in the heat of summer. Enjoy pure, crisp air and scenic views in every direction, as mists swirl and showers surprise you.

Do whale watching

Whale watching is a favorite activity in the area because there are three pods of Orca whales. A thriving eco-spirit in the region makes for wonderful tour guides who tell stories of the building of the ecosystem and the social lives of the creatures who live here like salmon, seals, whales, sharks, eagles, dolphins, turtles, and so many more that you will likely see. It is a half hour ride to Bellingham where the boats head out on day trips.

Explore Nooksack River

The Nooksack River rages toward Bellingham Bay via three forks, providing a playground to kayakers, river rafters, hikers, bikers, and more. Wildlife includes salmon and eagles, both common for viewing; deer and elk, raccoons, owls, hawks, and many more citizens in our wild community. Bikes and kayaks, cross country skis, and river guides are all available out of nearby glacier, just a stones throw up the mountain.

Bird Watching is also a favorite in the region, from giant eagles, swans, and heron to tiny yellow finches and red winged blackbirds. Red capped woodpeckers and dozens of others color the forests.

Tour to Nooksack Falls

Nooksack Falls are just 20 minutes up the road, where two 200 feet waterfalls cascade into each other in a deep canyon, carved by eons of rushing river. Used by natives for rites of passage for centuries, Nooksack Falls is a local secret, little known as a tourist spot, and it is not uncommon to have the roaring mists to yourself.

Just a short mile or two from Nooksack Falls is a secret section of old growth forest preserved from logging by the National Forest Service. The eight-foot wide Douglas Fir and Cedar reach endlessly upward, towering over the enchanted fern garden below. A wonderland to experience, and a place rich with magic for ritual or ceremony.

Visit Larabee Park Beach

The Larabee Park Beach is most heavily trafficked in the summertime, but the rest of the year it is just 10 minutes from downtown Bellingham, yet quietly serene and isolated. There you can do sea kayaking along Bellingham’s shoreline and it can be a divine experience, a close encounter with the wild, just inches from the surface of the sea. The only residents are high on the cliffs, so you are intimately surrounded by only the wild, even as you paddle out of the city.

Visit Mount Baker

The Mount Baker is a10,000 feet majesty that oversees the entire region. Her glacier topped visitor center is just 30 miles from the center, offering amazing views of gorgeous peaks in every direction, with hiking trails that range from a casual stroll, to a steep workout. Mt. Baker Ski Resort is also at the top and is known for its miles and miles of trails for every skill level. Many Olympic and X Games stars got their tricks here on her slopes. Cross country skiers love the serene isolation of local trails, the silence broken only by rippling waterfalls.
