The location for this retreat is on Maui’s North Shore, between the historic plantation towns of Paia and Makawao. The former, a rustic seaside town, is an off-the-beaten-path favorite among locals, artists, and savvy travelers seeking an authentic North Shore experience. In upcountry Makawao, sense the rich history of the Hawaiian cowboy (Paniolos) tradition.

Due to the sheltering effect of volcanic mountains and the differences in weather found at various elevations, Maui is blessed with a diversity of micro-environments, each with its own unique weather, plants, and animals. Discover tropical rain forests, cool alpine regions, arid deserts, and sunny beaches, all within a few short miles of the retreat.

During this retreat, you will be served daily meals. Maui’s climate creates an abundance of fresh food year-round. Mango, lilikoi, guava, avocado, papaya are among the 200 species of plants that grow generously on the property. The chef will prepare farm-to-table meals for you daily and can happily accommodate various diets, from vegan to vegetarian and everything in between.

Wooden crates are used to carry produce from the gardens to the kitchen; “the Crate” represents the bridge between farmer and chef. “The Crate” is a symbol of inspiration, knowledge, and collaboration, which honors the tradition of food production and local sustainability. “Wooden Crate” dinners offer guests an opportunity to honor this tradition and experience a clean, nutritious, and exquisitely prepared garden-to-table Maui dining experience in an intimate and beautiful tropical retreat setting.
