    During this yoga teacher training course, you will be staying in bright and clean rooms where you can relax, sleep, and make yourself feel comfortable. Clean bed sheets, blankets, and pillows will be provided. You will have your own bathroom with hot water and you can use the Wi-Fi for free. Your classes are located at the same building as your accommodations, so teachers are easily accessible to you throughout the day.

    Teaching yoga is a very fulfilling and responsible task. A good yoga teacher needs a stable base and profound knowledge about various teaching techniques. As a yoga teacher, you not only need the knowledge itself but also the ability to incorporate this knowledge into the practice so that each participant feels picked up at their level.

    Increasing your life force and prana throughout the course will give you a glowing aura and energy which will help you to live a yogic lifestyle-whether you are teaching yoga or not.

    Classes are held Mondays to Saturdays from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. On Sundays, you can join the group for some fun excursions around Rishikesh.

    This 200-hour yoga teacher training is registered with the Yoga Alliance Foundation. Hence, the course curriculum, materials, props, and teachers are approved by it as well. As you graduate from the training, you will receive a certification that allows you to teach yoga internationally without any restrictions.

    You can register as RYT-200 and after two years become an ERYT-200.

    Course curriculum

    1). Hatha Yoga

    During your 200-hour yoga teacher training with Gyan Heilyoga, you will cover up to 150 Hatha asana poses. Here we have listed the first 30 poses for you:

    2). Adjustment

    You will learn how to adjust these asanas (and more) and understand how adjustment can deepen your practice. You will cover their benefits, modifications, and cautions.

    3). Pranayama (breathing techniques)

    These are based on traditional yogic breathing techniques which will benefit your yoga practice as you learn how to lengthen your breath. How to incorporate breathing into postures and into your classes. How breath work assists the body.

    4). Shatkarma (cleansing techniques)

    These yogic cleansing practices will be integrated into the daily morning schedule and will work in conjunction with the asana practices. These will purify the nervous system and allow your breath to flow freely throughout the body. In expelling toxins from the body, we therefore cleanse it.

    5). Meditation

    You will cover a range of meditation techniques that will help build concentration and focus in your daily practice. Techniques include Om Chanting, Chakra and Power of Transformation Meditation.

    6). Mantras (chanting)

    A range of mantras will be taught including the Gayatri Mantra and many more. Find your inner harmony in these sessions.

    7). Anatomy

    You will learn anatomy relevant to yoga in order to strengthen the classroom explanations, cues, and corrections of asanas.

    During this 200-hour yoga teacher training, you will cover:

    • Yoga and skeletal system, brain and nervous system, respiratory system, digestive system, cardiovascular system
    • Effects of pranayama, asanas and meditation for various disorders
    • Subtle body anatomy of the chakras, nadis and the application of chakras energy in the practice of yoga
    • Introduction to Ayurveda and yogic diet.

    10). Yoga philosophy

    During your 200-hour yoga teacher training, you will learn:

    • Yoga Sutras: Parts of the Patanjali’s yoga Sutra
    • 8 limbs of Ashtanga Yoga
    • How overcome Panch-klesha: the five causes of pain and miseries
    • The philosophy behind Raj yoga and Hatha yoga
    • Parts of the Bhagavad Gita

    11). Teaching methodology and practice

    This class will give you the necessary building blocks to devise your own yoga class. Learn how to motivate your students by teaching inclusively to the range of abilities that you may be faced with.

    12) Yoga teaching practice

    The teaching practice is the last practical part of the course. You will:

    • Practice teaching with Lead Teacher
    • Receiving/giving feedback
    • Prepare your own class
    • Teach your own class
    • Adjust your students correctly

    When you’re in the mood to watch a movie, you are welcome to join the Saturday movie nights. They play nice movies and sometimes also yoga documentaries.


    A really fun part about Laxman Jhula is all the shops, stalls, and stores. If you have time during your busy training schedule, go wander around for a bit and see what you can find. There are lots of fun clothing to buy like pants, shirts, shawls, and scarves. Some other items that are available in the nearby markets include candles, yoga gear, natural or Ayurvedic beauty and personal care products, religious items, healthy food, snacks, and much more.

    Slum children education project

    Gyan Heilyoga collaborates with a creativity school for 400 slum children around. They do amazing work and the children learn so much. They are really good at writing, speaking English, dancing, yoga, science, and much more. They take the students there once a month. So if you are interested, you can visit, play, and do yoga with the kids.

    Arrival by airplane

    Please book your flight to arrive at Dehradun Airport (DED). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request. Upon arrival, you can use a taxi ride that takes you from the airport to the centre at Laxman Jhula. The trip will cost you 15 USD.

    Arrival by bus

    The Volvo buses from Delhi to Rishikesh stop running around 9:00 p.m.. If your plane arrives in Delhi in the evening, you will have to get a hotel for the night and then make your way to Delhi ISBT (inter-state bus terminus) in the morning.

    From the airport, you can get a prepaid taxi to take you to Delhi ISBT. The price from the Delhi airport to Delhi ISBT will be 500 INR. Once you arrive at Delhi ISBT, navigate your way to the bus station’s ticket stands on the second level (go up the escalator). Go to the Uttarakhand state booth and ask when the next Volvo bus will be leaving for Rishikesh. The bus ticket approximately costs between 300 to 400 INR.

    Once you arrive at Rishikesh bus station, find an auto rickshaw (tuk tuk) to take you to Laxman Jhula bridge. From there it is only a two-minute walk to the center.

    Arrival by taxi

    You can also hire a private car to take you from Delhi to Rishikesh. The journey will take up to seven hours and costs about 70 USD. Taxi transfers are available upon request. The taxi driver will hold a sign with your name up at your arrival gate in Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL).
