Are you looking for that mystical holiday where you can combine some energizing mountain time with clean, wholesome food, yoga and meditation? That holiday really does exist... The Meribel valley in March is spectacular, the mountains are full of snow, the sky is (usually) clear and vibrant blue, and the energy of the area is changing as spring really starts to unfold. With longer lift opening, brighter mornings and evenings and more settled weather (again, usually), March is an uplifting time to join Bodhi Adventure in this beautiful area as spring is beginning to unfold and your energy starting to uplift and creep out of the winter.
During the retreat, you will stay in a beautiful and modern Alpine chalet located in Meribel, Three Valleys, France. Salute the sun in the morning as it beams through the large picture windows and cozy up in front of the fire in the evening with tales of the day's adventures.
Deliciously designed for relaxation and calm, the chalet consists of four bedrooms (twin rooms) with ensuite bathrooms, underfloor heating, log burner fire in the living room, and a beautiful open plan communal space which provides scenic mountain views.
Each retreat is tailored to meet the need of each of the eight individuals taking part. There will be a pre-retreat questionnaire to discuss what you want to get from the week and how you want to feel when you leave.
During this retreat, the morning practices will always be strong sessions to create heat and energy to help you through the day. The evening sessions will be calming and nourishing to help you have a balance sleep and feel away from the world.
The practices are made suitable for all levels, whether you are a complete beginner to the postures and meditation, or a seasoned yogini. Within each session, there will be progressions and challenges to suit your level. No matter what your experience, all participants are all still learning. Embracing this process in a group is a lovely thing, as you will see people move at different levels and overcome different challenges in their bodies.
The styles of yoga you will experience during the week will vary depending on the outcome you are trying to achieve with the session. The majority of your practices will be rooted in Vinyasa flow style sequences, with emphasis on different areas of the body and mind. You will also dive into some Yin yoga at strategic times during the weeks to help you unlock your practice further.
You will all come together on the first evening with a welcome chat and discussion in the communal space. The rest of the week will include two or three sessions a day, with the exception of Wednesday when there will be one session. The closing practice will be on Friday evening, preparing you for the next day of travel and returning home.
Not all the sessions will be full physical yoga practices. Daily, you will draw upon some self-release techniques, home practice planning, or mindset work to help you really grow your practice for well-being and spend more of every day in yoga. The classes are not compulsory. You make your own decision each day about how long you want to spend on the mat and finding your own balance in your practice.
The yoga teacher has one day off during the week, meaning you can have a lovely lie in!
The retreat will be held in in the heart of the Three Valleys ski area of the French Alps. As implied by its name, the area originally consisted of three valleys: Saint-Bon, Allues, and Belleville. You will find the place tucked away from the bustle of Meribel town, just above the quiet, traditional village of Les Allues with stunning snowy views from all directions.
Healthy and energizing breakfast and afternoon tea are available during your stay. You will also enjoy delicious and freshly prepared three-course evening meals. The hosts have one evening off during the week for you to explore the local restaurants. The menus are designed around the fresh food that can be sourced locally for each week. Here are a few examples of the type of meals you may enjoy:
Breakfast usually follows a warming morning yoga practice, so it is better to embrace the energy in the body and leave yourself springing through the day.
Afternoon tea will be a little boost of energy to keep going till dinner but without that afternoon slump.
After a long day of snow, sun, and yoga, there is nothing better than a warm and nourishing meal to set you up for an hour in front of the fire and a good night's sleep.
You can enjoy massage treatments during your free time at an additional cost.
Please book your flight to arrive at Chambéry Airport (CMF), Geneva Airport (GVA), Grenoble-Isère Airport (GNB), or Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport (LYS). The airports are all serviced by some great transfer companies that will then pick you up and bring you up to the resort. If arriving by air, Bodhi Adventure would recommend Geneva Airport (GVA) as it has the most options for shared transfers to the resort.
Please take the train to arrive at the nearest train station, Moutiers. Transportation for those arriving by the snow train to Moutier is available with Bodhi Adventure for no additional cost.
