Programm

You are alive at an extraordinary moment in time - it is a time of growing uncertainty, as climate catastrophe looms, the sixth mass extinction accelerates, and the wounds of inequality and inhumanity are laid bare. It is also a time of great possibility when creativity, courage, and collective action can change the political and ecological landscape for future generations. It is a time when many of us are seeking ways to reconnect to one another and to the living earth and to bring forth your particular gifts to contribute.

During this four-day residential retreat, you will be touching the innermost responses to the condition of the world and reconnecting with your sense of wonder for the web of life. Strengthened by generations past and encouraged by those yet to come, you can tap your own deep awareness and creativity to chart a course for taking action in a way that brings you alive.

This retreat will use experiential practices, poetry and song, ritual and movement, and silence to guide your journey through the four stages of the spiral of the Work That Reconnects.

The four stages support one another and help you experience first hand that you are larger, stronger, deeper, and more creative than you have been brought up to believe.

Anahata Yoga Retreat will support your journey by participating in the yogic practices at Anahata Yoga Retreat. Drawing on the work of Joanna Macy, John Seed, and Arne Naess this retreat will empower you to act on behalf of the earth with clarity, love, and direction. No previous experience in yoga or deep ecology necessary.

Add-on option for facilitators Hui

This add-on option is available for workshop participants wishing to step into facilitating 'The Work That Reconnects', or those already facilitating, who wish to join a community of facilitators for experiential sharing.

Two co-creative sessions (one pre- and one post-workshop) will support your own transformational Deep Ecology journey as well as help you gain confidence assisting others on the path to coming back to life. Facilitators Hui option is at 15:00 - 18:00 Thursday (pre-retreat), plus 13:30 - 16:30 Sunday (post-retreat).

The first session will offer a theory about the four successive stages of the work, group facilitation basics, and pointers for observing and learning from workshop facilitation during the weekend. Following the workshop completion, you will have an extensive de-brief, involving both practical aspects of facilitation and workshop layout as well as reflections on our personal journeys.

About the facilitator

Inna Alex is a passionate community organizer, environmental educator, deep ecology facilitator, and yoga teacher. Living at Tui Community, Golden Bay, New Zealand, she integrates her permaculture knowledge by coordinating and co-teaching some of Earthcare’s Permaculture Education programs, coordinating women’s gathering and an annual educational community festival, living actively in the intentional community, teaching yoga, parenting her daughter Kiva, and tending her garden.

Inna has been teaching deep ecology workshops around New Zealand for the past eight years, having studied both with Joanna Macy and John Seed. "For me, Joanna’s 'Work That Reconnects' is the bridge between our spiritual journeys and how we act in the world. I’m amazed how powerful this work is in enabling us to experience ourselves as part of the Living Whole and recommit to wholeheartedly engage in its healing. I am very excited to be offering this work in conjunction with a supportive yogic practice at such a special location.“
