Surf Adventure and Yoga Retreat in Costa Rica

The physical and mental benefits of yoga and surfing share similar characteristics. Asana practice in the yoga studio hones one's focus and teaches precision control of body movements. Surfing does the same in the water. Both teach you to be flexible, open, and adaptable. And after a certain point, both activities transcend the physical become mental and elemental in nature. This retreat combines the two to foster relaxation and strength.

Things to do (optional)

Canyoning tour

Take the a five-minute walk from the base camp to the top of the canyon where you'll receive thorough safety instructions before starting your adventure. When you reach the first waterfall, which is five meters, you'll then be taught the fundamentals and proper techniques of rappelling. Then, you are on your way with five more waterfalls to go. The largest of the falls is 25 meters. The canyon ends at the Uvita River, where there are some pristine swimming holes to relax and reflect. The canyon cruiser will then pick you up and take you back to the base camp.

Canopy tour at Hacienda Bar National Wildlife Refuge

This tour imitates the flight of the chestnut-mandible toucan, as it leaps off a branch, swoops down through the forest, and then up in to another tree. On this tour, eight separate cable rides take you from one ridge top to another, across valleys and streams. There are 14 land-based platforms and one tree platform with a view of the coast.

Horseback riding to Nauyaca Waterfall

This horseback tour is over a 12-kilometer route with three resting periods. You'll depart from the paved road and arrive about an hour later at Don Lulo's house, the ride continues on for 25 minutes until you arrive at the waterfalls. You may swim in the beautiful natural pools the waterfalls have formed. On the way back, you'll stop once again at Don Lulo's house to enjoy a delicious typical Costa Rican lunch. After a well-earned rest on the hammocks and a delicious cup of coffee, you'll begin the return trip back to the starting point.

Kayaking in the mangroves

You'll also have the opportunity to find six different types of mangrove trees and learn the importance of their ecosystem.

Ocean kayaking

You'll also have the chance to enjoy the lush green surroundings and rock formations in shape of arches. You'll also stop at Playa Ventanas (Windows Beach) for some snacks and kayak surfing. Ventanas is surrounded by tunnels in the cliffs that look like impressive windows in the surrounding landscape, hence the beach's name.
