Join an uplifting and nourishing yoga holiday with Catie and Sylvia at the foot of the breathtaking Atlas Mountains in Morocco. This retreat focuses on strengthening and mobilizing the body while fostering inner harmony and relaxation. Participants can expect a delightful influx of feel-good hormones, along with ample opportunities for nature immersion, fun, connection, creativity, and social interaction, all designed to help each individual's yoga practice flourish. The retreat welcomes diverse experiences, allowing space to explore and expand upon personal yoga journeys. With a small group of up to 19 participants, there is plenty of individual attention to enhance the experience.
Bab Zouina is dedicated to welcoming yoga retreats. The yoga shala is fully equipped with mats and all needed supports including blocks, ropes, belts, blankets, Iyengar chairs, etc. There are also 2 rooftops where you can practice facing the Atlas Mountains and amongst the chirping birds and the sunlight.
Pool, petanque and tennis – Besides your yoga sessions, there are uplifting outdoor activities. The pool is available for those who enjoy swimming and sunbathing. The petanque pitch provides nice entertainment amongst friends, while the tennis court offers fun competition for experienced players (please bring your own racket and appropriate shoes for clay courts).
Accommodations are available in single, double, or triple bed rooms. All rooms feature ensuite or adjacent bathrooms, complete with complimentary towels for added comfort.
The morning sessions will be general yoga classes, a great start to your day, with varying focuses. They will with some pranayama/meditation. In the afternoon, you shall focus on group requests such as hand balancing, backbends, Yin, Restorative, and yoga Nidra. With the handstand work, everyone shall find a place to be comfortable in some handstand variation and everyone shall find that they expand their abilities.
Beginners will be encouraged to find their first handstand, and all will experience the various ways to enter a handstand from kicking to the various pressing up ways (such as straddling, tucking up, or pressing up), to finding movement within a handstand to learning the steps to one arm handstand. You shall experience optimum handstand alignment, with partners and solo. You will warm up the body, strengthen the abs and back muscles, open the shoulders, and experience alignment in plank and in many handstand variations.
The classes are designed to nurture the teacher within, even for those who do not identify as "teachers." Participants will enhance their understanding, experience, and focus on each exercise. This retreat fosters a collaborative environment, allowing an exploration of how different body types can approach specific positions to achieve optimal results.
Children are very welcome to join the retreat. They cannot join the group classes unless they can follow the class and without disruption to the other participants.
Catie is the author of "This Is It, Enlightenment with CYoga" and teaches master classes internationally. Catie shares a core approach that anything is possible. She is spontaneous with a highly original and integrated approach to yoga. Her dynamic energy connects with everyone, and she developed her own formless or form of yoga - Cyoga. Cyoga is this "Magic moment of involvement with love / yoga; brilliance in any situation".
Sylvia has been practicing yoga since 2001 and over the years, has come to explore many different styles. Coming from a strong Ashtanga background and inspired by her teacher David Swenson, Sylvia has taken a huge amount from this practice which she passes on to her students with care, compassion and humour. She has practiced many other styles over the years including Dharma yoga, Jivamukti, Vinyasa flow, Yin and Acro yoga as well as circus based handstands and acrobatics. She also practices and teaches Nidra yoga.
Meals are prepared with care and love using local produce as well as from the garden and emitting the pleasant scent of Oriental spices. There is amazing Moroccan and Berber cuisine that can cater to any food constraint including vegan, gluten or lactose-free. Each meal is prepared to be a therapy of healthy and tasty foods to nourish your body.
On a daily basis bread is baked in a traditional Moroccan earth oven. The kitchen staff also squeezes delicious fruit juices, so you get your shot of vitamins. On top of this, tea, coffee, fresh and dried fruits are available throughout the day. A balanced and healthy diet for guests is central to the venue’s philosophy.
