"Most authentic way - and considering the prices of resorts this is the best and affordable (still pricey, but affordable for Maldives) - to visit Maldives. Me & my boyfriend rented the Sea Coral for 6 days. We cruised around two atolls and got to see the real Maldives - the uninhabited islands, local islands, sand banks and the sea life, of course. Yes, its all true - manta rays, turtles and hundreds of dolphins, we too got to see all of this! The 4 member crew took an amazing care of us and we loved that we could have the boat for ourselves - that gave the whole experience a touch of luxury. The boat is native dhoni, very basic, but big, spacious and practical. The bunks are actually quite cozy and except for the heat, that you get used to after a night or two after arriving from the European winter, is not too bad. The only thing i disliked is the engine - they had to keep it on during the night, which is a little loud and sometimes you can smell the gas (so would advise, if possible, to find a another solution for the lights and fridge) - that kind of ruins one with nature, only the sound and smell of sea during those lovely nights in the middle of nowhere feel. We loved the food, the chef did an amazing job - load of veggies and fish, oh and pancakes for breakfast. Will never forget the romantic dinner they prepared for us on an uninhabited island - table and chairs made of sand, candles, a dolphin carved into sand and lit wit fire .. so amazing. Lots of snorkeling, lots of relaxing, no wi-fi ... what a wonderful experience it was!"

"I spent ten days cruising around the Male Atoll and those to the south and enjoyed every moment of it. Not on a luxury boat, big enough just for the twelve of us. Meals were a standout, all fabulously cooked on the boat. I would recommend it! "

"This was the perfect trip for us. We are not interested in five star luxury villas as they look so sterile and lonely lined up there one after the other."

"This boat was the perfect size for five of us on the trip which was booked through G Adventures and conducted by Voyages locally. "

"There was a CEO Chief Experience Officer who was a male local and responsible for our seven days. In addition, there were two people who could "drive" the boat and a fourth person, our dedicated chef who created amazing meals in a small kitchen even when we were crossing straights - spans of water between atolls - where the waves some time rocked the boat around. We had three meals plus morning and afternoon "tea". There was plenty of drinking water. A bit sad it was bottled water. All those plastic bottles! They did take all the rubbish back to Male for disposal."

"We snorkelled multiple times every day and the CEO knew where the manta rays are, turtles, sharks (sleeping), and multiple coral reefs with abundant fish. We saw dolphins and sting rays. It was a wonderful trip. At one stage, the CEO took our GoPro and filmed, because he was able to dive deeper and that was wonderful to have that footage. We swam with the manta ray, sensational! They are curious creatures."

"Tip: if you are taking a GoPro get yourself a red filter as this will help the colors to show. "

"I thought of the boat as being a bit like camping except being on the water meant no bugs, mosquitos, or ants! Heaven!!"

"We had clean toilets, warm fresh water showers, and comfortable bunks. They provided clean bed linen, which was refreshed during the trip and nice towels, one bath and one for post swimming. There were clothes lines along the boat. Everything felt salty at the end of the trip."

"They had advised to bring soft baggage or backpack vs hard case and this is definitely essential as there is not much room in the cabin and there are draws under the bunk for storing."

"A few things essential to take: sunscreen and lots of it. The sun is hot and one of our group was badly burnt on the first day. Apply loads of sunscreen the minute you get on the boat. The breeze is cooling and therefore deceptive."

"Take a "rashie" for snorkelling and swimming. "

"We stopped at a couple of small islands and there were mosquitos - definitely need insect repellant."

"There are playing cards and UNO cards on board. There is a library of books, we left a couple of ours. Tip: definitely take your own reading material. You can read at night as there is a generator so there is light for reading."

"Maldives is a Muslim country; do not expect to be drinking alcohol. We didn't miss it."

"The crew were amazing, especially as we were there during 2016 Ramadan and they can only eat between sunset and sunrise. They fed us and took care of us with a level of customer service that is nothing short of exceptional."

"For example, any time any of us were moving about the boat there was a helping hand offered. When using the small dinghy, we used to reach the snorkel reefs there was extra care to ensure we were safe and in and out of the boat with a degree of dignity; even though it's pretty difficult to stay dignified getting in and out of those dinghys! Thank you to our helpers. We travelled a long way in that week and the reefs further away from Male were full of abundant life and fish and corals It was a magic week and I would highly recommend it for anyone wanting an adventure and seeing fish and reefs."

"When people think of the Maldives, they see luxury lodges and cottages over the turquoise lagoons. Unfortunately, they also see the exorbitant prices for all this luxury. I always wanted to visit the Maldives, but not only could I not afford the prices, I didn't want to be in a fancy lodge with very little chance of seeing the islands, sand banks, and the native people. I am a photographer and adventurer. Fancy dinners and spas meant nothing to me. I was so lucky when I e-mailed Michelle at Koamas Luxury Tours in Male. She arranged a two-week cruise for me aboard the Yasawa Princess. "

"A visitor could also opt for a one-week cruise. We would cruise various Atolls, spend time on deserted islands and sand bars. I have never seen beaches and blue water like those in the Maldives. The Caribbean doesn't come close!!! I spent time swimming in the warm turquoise water, taking many photos, walking along the secluded beaches (no crowds at all) in daily temperatures in the mid to high nineties! There were many opportunities for snorkeling. Some of the people on board were avid scuba divers who went out everyday. There were even some night dives. I am not a scuba diver, but I was shown some of the photos they took. Absolutely amazing!! Sharks, huge manta rays, and fish that had such saturated colors that I thought they were photoshopped! "

"All meals were included (buffet). There was a BBQ night when we were transferred to a beautiful beach (with all the decorations) for a magnificent barbecue. One night a week, we had a Maldivian dinner (native food). Almost everybody really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, it was too hot for me! One of the huge advantages of this trip was the terrific staff. They were tremendous!! They knew everybody by name. I never thought that I was just a number. I was their friend and they were mine! "

"I took over 1000 photos in two weeks. I marvel at the absolutely wonderful time I had. I e-mailed some photos to one of the staff who was with us on the islands! I will never forget this trip. If you truly want to see the beauty of the Maldives (with or without the extra scuba diving), forget the 2500 USD a night and prices for luxury pampering (unless that is your thing). Take a cruise on the Yasawa Princess. I am sure Michelle(at Koamas Tours) can book this tour for you."

"We bumped into this neat operator (through Google) prior to our departure to the Maldives. We were going to stay in two resorts in the South Male Atoll, merely six kilometers from each other, so we needed an inter-island boat transfer when going from one resort to the other. The prices that were quoted by the two resorts that we were going to stay at, were insane and ridiculous: between 300-360 USD (including taxes) for a 15-minute boat ride! So the cheaper solution came from Cruise Maldives who transferred us for a "mere" 200 USD. Perfect and fast email communication with their reservation desk (thanks Mari!), a comfortable, safe speedboat that showed up on time, and a friendly crew. According to their website, they also do affordable and attractive cruises (i.e. their core business)."

"We made a day trip with Cruise-Maldives.com. Their service is spotless and they didn't charge us a fortune. "

"We cruised in the morning and head to this sandbank in the middle of the Indian Ocean. We had the place to ourselves. We ate, jumped of the boat's roof deck, we danced, and enjoyed the whole day with friends."

"Overall, a day worth to be glorified and reminisced over and over."
