In this retreat, you will be accommodated in Sierra Hot Spring. For the camping, you will have the choice of using your own tent or you can sleep in the indoor workshop room dorm-style. Staying overnight at Sierra Hot Springs furnishes an unique opportunity for relaxation and rejuvenation. Sierra Hot Springs is truly an inspiring place where it’s easy to surrender to the overwhelming sense of tranquility. The sacred healing waters soothe away tension, while immersion in the crisp alpine air nourishes the soul. The natural spring water is as smooth as silk, and the pool are a true experience.
Whether you wish to go for a midnight soak under star-studded skies, or rise with the sun for a daybreak hike, their scenic surroundings will accommodate you. Well-behaved children are welcome at Sierra Hot Springs, including all accommodations. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times. Children are allowed in the pools between 11:00 and 18:00, excluding the meditation pool, the temple dome hot pool, and the sauna which are adults areas only.
For an additional charge, you may also stay in the charming main lodge which offers private rooms and dorms or the landmark globe hotel which is about one mile down the road. Whether you stay in the charming main lodge, in the landmark globe hotel, or you opt for camping, you are free to enjoy all of the Sierra Hot Springs facilities during your stay.
Dormitory style accommodations are also available at the main lodge. There is free high speed internet access at the main lodge and globe hotel either using their guest computer or bringing a laptop and accessing their Wi-Fi.
In this retreat, Anjuli and Alok offer a unique blend of therapeutic practices that include partner stretching, trust exercises, contact improvisation, and Zen Thai Shiatsu. The practices will be framed within the Chinese five element systems supporting a rejuvenating and transformational journey. You will learn an overview of the meridian lines in the body and how they relate to health and well-being.
The focus on mindful presence creates new pathways of freedom and understanding. This retreat is open to all levels and no partner is needed as they encourage switching partners throughout the weekend. However, couples are welcome to stay together if they wish.
A guided ecology hike on local trails is included in the package.
Alok is an experienced yogi and bodyworker who has traveled the world studying with various master teachers and styles. As a healer, his yoga instruction takes the approach of helping people find more freedom in their body and mind. He is a teacher and practitioner of Thai massage and loves to share the art of giving and receiving. He especially loves working with couples and helping them find playful ways to deepen intimacy through partner yoga, Contact dance, and therapeutic touch.
Anjuli Mahendra is a multi-modality healer, teacher, and founder of Shakticura Healing Lounge. Her connection to holistic movement and healing started in 1999 through a regular Iyengar yoga practice that was developed into yoga teaching by 2004. Her teaching style is a unique synthesis of dance, movement, and healing practices. She has developed her unique twist on Contact yoga, drawing on her somatic experiences with contact improvisation, Acro yoga, and bodywork. In addition to Contact yoga, she teaches Thai massage, Hatha yoga, and dance workshops.
This retreat takes place in Sierraville, California, USA. Sierraville is located in the Eastern Sierras, at the south edge of the largest alpine valley in the continental United States, Sierra Valley. Sierraville was one of the earliest communities settled in the Sierra Valley and prospered during the Gold Rush era. Sheriff John Campbell developed the local hot springs, which were known far and wide for their healing properties, to accommodate over 80 overnight guests.
Having become the eastern entrance to the northern Sierra Gold Country, the town of Sierraville, was established in the 1850s. Nestled along a small creek that escapes the dense conifer forest, the quaint rustic town is home to about 350 people. Known as the hub of recreation, Sierraville boasts over 130 lakes in a 25-mile radius.
The Gold Lake region is one of the most beautiful sights in Northern California, offering many shimmering alpine lakes lying just below the stunning Sierra Buttes. Majestic views and world class hiking trails at the Yuba Pass or Gold Lake region are unforgettable and lie about 20 minutes from town.
In this retreat, you will have three catered brunches on Saturday and Sunday. For dinner, you can purchase a meal at the restaurant or bring supplies to make your own. There's a delicious organic restaurant that serves dinner from 18:30 until 20:30 on the weekends. You will have access to a communal guest kitchen in the main lodge. Pots, pans, plates, and everything else you need are there for your cooking convenience, but please remember to bring your own coffee, oils, and spices.
