The quintessential beauty of a Mediterranean retreat, Vulcano Island, off the Sicilian coast. The unique beauty and fascinating characteristics of the Aeolian islands, two are active volcanoes, a wealth of history, Greek myths and legends lived here, wonderful sea-swimming, great beaches, stunning views, mountain and coastal walking galore, mouth watering cuisine and luscious sweet dessert wines will charm you.
Our accommodation is a 5-star resort designed with the typical Aeolian architecture in mind: white and blue, all on one floor, great terraces for our yoga sessions, a pool in the Mediterranean garden from which you have uninterrupted views of the other islands, a spa where to relax and all the facilities that one of the best resorts in Italy should have.
Ameriga's classes are a blend of Ashtanga elements into a Vinyasa flow style practice, with emphasis on playfulness, breathe work, and compassionate adjustments. She will offer several variations for most poses, which is why the classes are suited for both beginner and more advanced levels. When she is not teaching, she travels the world to study yoga and follows her teachers, Shiva Rea, Lino Miele, Simon Borg-Olivier.
Our goal every week is to provide you with the experience of a lifetime. We do this by immersing you into the culture while giving you the sense of having found your home away from home. Our week on Vulcano Island will be a full immersion into Sicilian culture and experiences, and we will be guided to discover the secrets of this archipelago. We will: walk to the top of the volcano; spend few hours sea-kayaking to discover the hidden beaches, little bays only reachable from the sea; go for a boat trip to visit another lovely island and taste one of the best Sicilian wines.
Salina, Lipari, Stromboli, Panarea are some of the islands we will be able to visit, and after every walk we will have time to relax in one of the secluded beaches and have a lovely lunch cooked for us on the boat or a snack in one of the villages well have time to wander around.
Castles, medieval churches and tiny museums with amazing artifacts will be open to be discovered every day in our explorations. One afternoon well have time for a cooking lesson too!
You will truly feel like family when you are with us. We dont do the traditional tour thing. When we are on excursions, we are a group of friends on an outing. It is a special experience like no other.
Vulcano Island, part of the Aeolian archipelago. Just 30 minutes away from Sicilian mainland. Vulcano Island is the quintessential Mediterranean island with blue sea, blue sky, black volcanic beaches, white houses and a pungent smell of jasmine and orange blossom that embraces you as you wander around its narrow streets. You will feel the energy of the volcanic activities on the island and the active volcanoes close by will deserve to be seen!

The in-house cook will assist us all day long, preparing homemade breakfast using locally sourced ingredients: freshly squeezed orange juices, peaches and apricots, fresh eggs and daily baked bread, yogurts, jams. In the evening the food experience will culminate into a 3-course vegetarian meal with different dishes every day! And of course the famous Sicilian ice creams and cakes.
Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Spanish, French contributed to the complex Sicilian history and to the particular richness of its food and recipes. All these populations brought a wealth of ingredients that make the Sicilian cuisine one of the best in Italy.
Today, one characteristic is that you will rarely eat anything that has not been produced locally. The freshest fish on the coast, the tastiest cheeses and meats in the interior and a huge range of vegetables and fruits with a sweet and rich flavor that you cant find at the supermarket!
Sicilian wines would deserve a separate chapter. According to legends, Dionysys (Bacchus) was the God who brought wine to Sicily. Legend aside, it is certain that wine has been made in Sicily for millennia. Mycenaen traders cultivated grapes in the Aeolian Islands as early as 1,500BC. So we are definitely in the right place to enjoy the best of the food and drinks!

After a week of relaxation, sea, sun and yoga activities you might be interested in join our small group tour of the best of Sicily. Back in the mainland, you will be able to stay in small boutique hotels, enjoy Sicily with real Sicilians that will show you around their land, invite you to try their delicacies and you'll be amazed not just by the scenery and ancient cultures.

Perched on a rocky promontory high above the sea, Taormina has been the most popular tourist destination in Sicily for a couple of hundred of years, ever since it became an integral part of the Grand Tour. Beautifully restored mediaeval buildings, breathtaking views around every corner and a giddy network of winding streets strewn with shops, bars and restaurants make for a perfect holiday spot. As soon as you arrive in Taormina, you will feel the magical, mythical atmosphere spread all around which has enchanted visitors from all over the world for years.
Visitors flock from all over the world to see its Greek-Roman theatre, to amble along its perfectly preserved Mediaeval streets, to admire its dramatic views of the active volcano Mount Etna and to immerse themselves in the archetypal Mediterranean atmosphere.
Well discover just few minutes away from the cosmopolitan Taormina the real Sicily, made of small hill- top villages with amazing churches and monasteries or unbelievably good restaurants and cafes just for locals, where you'll be able to try the local specialties and wines. We will try guided-tasting tours of local sweet wines, honey and cheeses too!
Or we could spend 3 nights/4 days in Cefalu and Palermo, the capitals of the Norman empire, well be of course part of our tours! With so much to see and do: churches and palaces, narrow lanes and amazing harbors, Greek and Roman and Medieval masterpieces to be discovered.
Holistic therapies are available on most days in the afternoon. Treatments are explained in detail at the beginning of the retreat and if you want some help in choosing which therapies to have, we can give some guidance, but we cant tell you what is right for you. We can only give you a bit more information about how the different therapists work and the possible effects of the therapy.
Choosing by instinct and trusting when the choice feels right is the best way because it enables the therapist to work more deeply if necessary. These are the therapies available during your holiday at Completely Yoga at additional cost. All treatments start from 65 EUR for 1.5 hours; rates to be confirmed at the moment of booking.
