Ameriga's classes are a blend of Ashtanga elements into a Vinyasa flow style practice, with emphasis on playfulness, breathe work, and compassionate adjustments. She will offer several variations for most poses, which is why the classes are suited for both beginner and more advanced levels. When she is not teaching, she travels the world to study yoga and follows her teachers, Shiva Rea, Lino Miele, Simon Borg-Olivier.

Yoga retreat and culture immersion

Our goal every week is to provide you with the experience of a lifetime. We do this by immersing you into the culture while giving you the sense of having found your home away from home. Our week on Vulcano Island will be a full immersion into Sicilian culture and experiences, and we will be guided to discover the secrets of this archipelago. We will: walk to the top of the volcano; spend few hours sea-kayaking to discover the hidden beaches, little bays only reachable from the sea; go for a boat trip to visit another lovely island and taste one of the best Sicilian wines.

  • Ameriga Giannone

Yoga teacher – Vinyasa yoga, Yin, and SUP yoga instructor, world traveller, and surfer/kitesurfer who knows first hand how much yoga can help to improve one’s health and performance between the waves. Her Vinyasa classes are a blend of Ashtanga elements into a Vinyasa style practice, that generally targets strength-building in the arms, core, back and legs. Ameriga graduated in Oriental languages and cultures, she has travelled extensively through Asia, Africa and Latin America; and is very passionate about yoga philosophy, which she is happy to share at dinner time.

Vulcano Island, part of the Aeolian archipelago. Just 30 minutes away from Sicilian mainland. Vulcano Island is the quintessential Mediterranean island with blue sea, blue sky, black volcanic beaches, white houses and a pungent smell of jasmine and orange blossom that embraces you as you wander around its narrow streets. You will feel the energy of the volcanic activities on the island and the active volcanoes close by will deserve to be seen!

The in-house cook will assist us all day long, preparing homemade breakfast using locally sourced ingredients: freshly squeezed orange juices, peaches and apricots, fresh eggs and daily baked bread, yogurts, jams. In the evening the food experience will culminate into a 3-course vegetarian meal with different dishes every day! And of course the famous Sicilian ice creams and cakes.

Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Spanish, French contributed to the complex Sicilian history and to the particular richness of its food and recipes. All these populations brought a wealth of ingredients that make the Sicilian cuisine one of the best in Italy.

Today, one characteristic is that you will rarely eat anything that has not been produced locally. The freshest fish on the coast, the tastiest cheeses and meats in the interior and a huge range of vegetables and fruits with a sweet and rich flavor that you cant find at the supermarket!

Sicilian wines would deserve a separate chapter. According to legends, Dionysys (Bacchus) was the God who brought wine to Sicily. Legend aside, it is certain that wine has been made in Sicily for millennia. Mycenaen traders cultivated grapes in the Aeolian Islands as early as 1,500BC. So we are definitely in the right place to enjoy the best of the food and drinks!

Other extra activities you might be interested are snorkeling, sailing and holistic therapies, which you can enjoy at additional costs.

Optional tours

After a week of relaxation, sea, sun and yoga activities you might be interested in join our small group tour of the best of Sicily. Back in the mainland, you will be able to stay in small boutique hotels, enjoy Sicily with real Sicilians that will show you around their land, invite you to try their delicacies and you'll be amazed not just by the scenery and ancient cultures.

If you want to stay longer and explore Southern Sicily with UNESCO sites like the Baroque masterpieces of Noto and Modica, Siracusa, and also the Sicilian treasures off the beaten tracks, that would be possible with our guide or as self-guided tours.

During one of our small-group tours for 3 nights/4 days, that's what well see:

Perched on a rocky promontory high above the sea, Taormina has been the most popular tourist destination in Sicily for a couple of hundred of years, ever since it became an integral part of the Grand Tour. Beautifully restored mediaeval buildings, breathtaking views around every corner and a giddy network of winding streets strewn with shops, bars and restaurants make for a perfect holiday spot. As soon as you arrive in Taormina, you will feel the magical, mythical atmosphere spread all around which has enchanted visitors from all over the world for years.

Visitors flock from all over the world to see its Greek-Roman theatre, to amble along its perfectly preserved Mediaeval streets, to admire its dramatic views of the active volcano Mount Etna and to immerse themselves in the archetypal Mediterranean atmosphere.

Well discover just few minutes away from the cosmopolitan Taormina the real Sicily, made of small hill- top villages with amazing churches and monasteries or unbelievably good restaurants and cafes just for locals, where you'll be able to try the local specialties and wines. We will try guided-tasting tours of local sweet wines, honey and cheeses too!

Cefalu and Palermo

Or we could spend 3 nights/4 days in Cefalu and Palermo, the capitals of the Norman empire, well be of course part of our tours! With so much to see and do: churches and palaces, narrow lanes and amazing harbors, Greek and Roman and Medieval masterpieces to be discovered.

Holistic treatments

Holistic therapies are available on most days in the afternoon. Treatments are explained in detail at the beginning of the retreat and if you want some help in choosing which therapies to have, we can give some guidance, but we cant tell you what is right for you. We can only give you a bit more information about how the different therapists work and the possible effects of the therapy.

Choosing by instinct and trusting when the choice feels right is the best way because it enables the therapist to work more deeply if necessary. These are the therapies available during your holiday at Completely Yoga at additional cost. All treatments start from 65 EUR for 1.5 hours; rates to be confirmed at the moment of booking. Please note that therapists are paid directly by you in EUR (not credit card).

Ayurvedic massage

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medical system that aims to maintain the health of the mind and spirit, tailored to each individual person. Ayurvedic therapies use oils, movements and techniques chosen especially for you, your body and your skin type.

Reflexology is the application of appropriate pressure to specific points and areas on the feet, hands, or ears. Reflexologists believe that these areas and reflex points correspond to different body organs and systems, and that pressing them has a beneficial effect on the organs and persons general health.

Full body aromatherapy massage

An aromatherapy massage is particularly suited to conditions involving stress or improving emotionally-related conditions. It is a massage with highly concentrated plant oils added to the massage lotion.

"Just returned from a fantastic Yoga and Walking holiday in Tuscany. The entire set up provided a warm, lovely and fun atmosphere in which to relax and enjoy the delights of Italy and benefit from the daily yoga sessions.Francesca ensured that everything ran smoothly - from staying in the beautiful villa, the walking trips around the countryside, the delicious vegetarian food provided by Letizia and organising any trips to the spa and towns around Val D'orcia.Christine is a brilliant and patient Iyengar Yoga teacher and it was great to see my improvement in just 12 sessions. Patti has amazing 'healing' hands and her reflexology treatment was simply therapeutic.Overall, I would recommend this holiday to those looking for a rustic yet luxurious holiday in a beautiful setting where the organisers are friendly, welcoming and loving.", edited

"I absolutely loved my week in the villa in Tuscany. The place is so beautiful it's hard not to feel relaxed. Everything was perfectly organised and because you could choose on the day whether you joined or not, you were still able to fill in your week to your own needs. The yoga has opened my eyes to different types of yoga and has taught me a lot of new techniques. The walks were a good way of exploring the surrounding area. I liked it that it wasn't at all strict and that we just had a glass of wine (or 2) during dinner. All in all it truly was a home away from home with our own small family. I would absolutely recommend this yoga holiday!"
