Retreats with Clarity have proved to be very popular in the past and transformational for many people. See, feel, taste, smell, hear, and experience more at Ashiyana Yoga Retreat; a peaceful tropical haven. It is located beside the beautiful and unspoiled Mandrem Beach, which is now perhaps the least populated and least developed part of Goa. Your sensory yoga experience involves walking meditation, pranayama, Dynamic yoga, Restorative yoga, and yoga Nidra, so you feel the vibrancy of life pulsating through you from the inside out.
Most of the Ashiyana’s accommodation is underneath palm trees and designed to replicate traditional houses found in Asia and Africa. The styles are available range from the simple, yet popular beach hut to the grand Raj Suits.
Some of these rooms are built within the Ashiyana Villa whilst others are alongside the river. All are made from stone and very generous in size with stunning views from either the window or balcony. The aim in the design is to give you the feeling of living in an Indian palace using furniture from Rajastan and accessorized with sumptuous soft furnishings.
These tend to be either solid, stone-built buildings, tree houses or eco-lodges. The lodges and tree-houses are of local wood to give an ‘indonesian’ feel, and furnished with natural fabric and antique furniture. Some of the this category of accommodation have air conditioning which maybe available upon request.
Ashiyana have Beach Huts which are located in the sand dunes – minutes walk from the beach but off the main site plus they have Beach Hut style accommodation which are located on site. These are also very comfortable to stay in with a lovely, natural feel plus you’ll feel part of nature as you are more likely to hear the sounds of passers by more than in the stone built accommodation. The beach huts have a fan to help circulate the air.
Whichever accommodation you choose, you can be assured that they are all are very comfortable with good, cotton bed linen, mosquito nets, fans or air conditioning. The showers in the rooms generally work all the time – unusual for India – with hot and cold water. The rooms are cleaned daily and maintenance – if necessary – is always at hand. Over the years which we have visited, we can assure you that Ashiyana have maintained a very high, nearly new standard each year.

The Ashiyana location offers a balance between the serenity of a coconut palm grove, bordered by the enchanting Mandrem River, and a beautiful quiet beach with the invigorating sound of the waves breaking against the shore just beyond the dunes. Mandrem, a remote and sleepy fishing village in the north of Goa, has a number of restaurants, an internet cafe, a travel agent, a small organic shop, general grocery store and places to rent motorbikes or hire taxis. Thirty minutes away by road is the large market town of Mapusa, which has good coach connections to other Indian towns and cities.
A pleasant 40-minute stroll (10 minutes by taxi) north along the beach is the lively and colorful village of Arambol. One of the main attractions to this distinctly 'hippy' hangout is the fresh-water lake separated from the sea by broad golden sands and it also has a post office, a small market, restaurants and beach-front bars, some featuring live music. A southward stroll takes you along a quiet stretch of beach dotted with beach shacks and restaurants.
Clarity takes great care to choose venues where the food is delicious and vegetarian, though there is a non-vegetarian alternative offered at some meals. Filtered water is used to prepare the food and herbal teas are available throughout the day to keep your fluid levels high plus of course. You eat only food that has been prepared on site.
"I can honestly say Goa 2012 changed my life. I am so much calmer, I want more out of life. I'm content with myself and unstoppable. I've travelled more. Work is great and I'm not worried about being on my own. What could Goa 2013 do?"
