The lounge is cosy with fitted poured cement couches and plenty of cushions.
Location, location, location! Casa Arenosa is a beachfront property that is situated on one of the Osa's most beautiful beaches. Take a 50 yards stroll along the garden trail and through the manzanilla trees and arrive at Backwash Bay. 'Backwash' is not only a perfect swimming beach, but also one of the areas most popular surf breaks.
The house has a spacious master bedroom upstairs with king size bed and an extra pull out double, and en suite bathroom. Downstairs there are two more bedrooms with double beds and a shared second bathroom.
The modern kitchen has a center island that acts as a prep station and socialising area. There is breakfast bar attached to the side of the kitchen, a barbecue area and a separate dining table just off to the side. There is a decent sized fresh water plunge pool, hammocks and beach loungers as well as comfortable living space.
'Tumbo' is situated amongst primary rainforest and a stone's throw from the beautiful 'Pan Dulce' (sweet bread) beach and offers a pleasant twist on jungle living. The main 'rancho' has a cozy modern feel with living, cooking, dining, entertaining, lounging area downstairs and spacious manicured gardens with private patio and dipping pool attached.
Upstairs comfortably sleeps 10 people in 3 partitioned rooms with en-suite bathrooms. Meanwhile, there are a separate 'creek-side' bungalows that both sleeps another 4 people, with en-suite bathroom.
The yoga deck is located across the creek and nestled inside a little jungle clearing with monkeys and scarlet macaws above in the canopy and the sound of the ocean beyond the trees. It is fully equipped with mats, blocks and sound system and has its own bathroom.
The perfect surf and swimming beach is located right in front of the accommodation, where beginners can take lessons on more forgiving waves, and boards can also be rented. Experienced surfers can find more challenging breaks such as Pan Dulce, Backwash and Matapalo within walking distance.
'Boca' is situated just a 30 minute ride from Puerto Jimenez just before you get to Matapalo, on a beautiful semi private beach on a large open property that has spacious grounds and offers fantastic yoga and spa facilities as well as having its own surf school right out front.
Accommodations range from a mixture of deluxe family style palm thatched beach bungalows with en-suite bathrooms to single occupancy palm thatched yurt tent platforms with private shower and washbasin facilities but shared bathrooms. Each of the structures is constructed using native hardwoods, bamboo and palm leaves and even incorporate driftwood and old surfboards into the designs to create architectural masterpieces.
The main 'Casa Grande' has a large communal dining space and open kitchen, with chill out sofa area and wireless Internet facility (upstairs only). The beachfront yoga deck is a piece of art in itself, once again a bamboo and hardwood structure with palm roof. It is spacious and complete with blocks, mats, straps and tennis balls! There is also a communal full size swimming pool with spa, boutique and bodywork facilities.
The private surf break right in front of the accommodation is run by experienced surfer and instructor Axel, whose 64 physique and deep voice will make you feel completely safe in the water, enticing you into any wave that comes your way! This friendly break is enjoyable for all levels of surfer, with a flat clay bottom and long rolling waves. If you don't feel like getting wet, then just sit back and relax on the huge 'surf-bench' to watch your colleagues on the waves, with incredible views across the gulf towards Panama.
Ojo, an established eco-lodge retreat with bamboo, hardwood and palm thatched jungle cabinas, is situated on the Carbonera beach near the small village of Matapalo, 30 minutes from Puerto Jimenez. It is nestled amongst primary rainforest inside the Golfo Dulce(the Sweet Gulf) and the gateway to the Pacific Ocean.
The cabinas, that are scattered around the property, amongst the lush vegetation, sleep two to four people with mostly en-suite bathrooms or with nearby shared facilities and all have a comfortable living space. There is a spacious Casa Grande with dining room and open kitchen where you can relax in a hammock to read a book and watch the next delicious meal being prepared.
The beachfront yoga deck is an open-air structure surrounded by lush, green jungle and a palm tree canopy. Additional facilities include blocks, mats, straps and an inversion swing. There is a jungle spa on the property that offers bodywork and acupuncture services, as well as facials, scrubs and wraps.
The beach right out front of the lodge is extremely beautiful, lined with coconut trees and breathtaking views of the Golfo Dulce and even across to Panama on a clear day. The surf school is only a 10-minute walk down the beach, where beginners can take lessons on the more forgiving waves, and boards can also be rented. Fifteen minutes in the opposite direction and the more experienced surfers can find more challenging breaks such as Pan Dulce, Backwash and Matapalo.
The Osa Peninsula is located at the most southern tip of Costa Rica and at the entrance to the Corcovado National Park. The Osa is home to the largest concentration of animal and plant species outside of the Amazon Rainforest, boasting nearly 2 percent of all animal and plant species found around the world. It is listed in National Geographics top five naturist destinations.
Your private chef will prepare vegetarian and vegan meals daily, using the freshest locally sourced ingredients. Fruit juices, smoothies and iced teas are available throughout the day, as well as locally grown coffee and a selection of black, green and herbal teas.
An early breakfast offers house made granola and yoghurt, fresh fruit, juices, tea and coffee.
Brunch is one of our main meals of the day and can range from the typical Pinto con Huevos (eggs with rice and beans), handmade tortillas and Mexican style burritos to pancakes with pineapple chutney, fresh banana walnut bread and mango coconut muffins to a more traditional American bagel with scrambled eggs and oven baked tomatoes.
Dinner offers a 3 course meal that starts with the Chefs soup of the day followed by an eclectic range of international vegetarian and vegan dishes, complimented by delicious home made breads, puddings, and desserts.
Canopy Tours: Glide through the jungle canopy from tree to tree harnessed onto a zip line and take in the rainforest from a higher perspective.
Dolphin Boat Tours: Set off early in the morning to try to find dolphins and whale sharks in the Golfo Dulce. Enjoy some snorkeling and swimming before taking a trip down the estuary of the Rio Esquinas deep into the mangroves to search for Tree Boas and American Crocodiles.
Horseback Riding: Ride a western saddle across the pastures, down jungle trails and along the beach accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide.
Kayaking Tours: Take a guided tour inside the river mouth and through the mangroves or just cruise around in the open 'Golfo Dulce'.
River and Nature Hikes: Stroll into the virgin rainforest towards the source of the river, encountering a variety of the diverse fauna and flora native to the area, as well as bathing in the beautiful waterfalls and swimming holes.
Surfing: Enjoy the relatively uncrowded waves of the Osa Peninsula, ideal for beginner to advanced surfers. Lessons or board rental available at the surf school.
Tree Climbing: Scale harnessed up a giant Strangler Fig (Matapalo) 65 ft up to a platform and then hurl yourself off into the canopy as you are lowered back gently to the ground.
Waterfall Repelling: Climb up the face of a 100ft flowing waterfall and then rappel down it to the pool below.
