On these retreats, Chillout Retreats will offer traditional Hatha yoga infused with the fluid Vinyasa flow, which is strong, powerful, and rejuvenating, and covers many of the well known and popular asanas. Yoga teaches you how to relax and restore the own power within your bodies whilst stilling the mind at the same time. You can expect to work strongly and dynamically in the mornings and smoothly, developing a deep sense of calmness in the evening classes.

On this retreat, Chillout Retreats will also be offering a Pilates inspired core strength class which is developed to strengthen your inner core and build up strength from within. Pilates is a wonderful compliment to yoga and is a useful practice to help any lower back problems or spine sensitivities. The lessons are suitable for any ability and will raise your heartbeat and strengthen you from your very core.

By quieting the chattering mind and developing loving kindness, you can really be open to experience what is going on in the present. How much time do you spend thinking about the past or the future without actually living and breathing each precious moment now? After all, you cannot change the past nor predict the future but you can shape your present.

Meditation is now well regarded as a life skill. As you use yoga or Pilates to strengthen and exercise your body, you can use meditation to strengthen and gain control of your brain and mind as it too is a muscle. It is a tool that can help aid concentration, sharpen the senses, and inspire minds. The beauty in even the smallest thing can be appreciated after only a few meditation sessions.

During this chill out retreats, you will learn different meditation techniques and practices that can be used every day, such as the mindfulness of breathing, the Metta Bhavana, and walking meditations. Once you have learnt how to calm the mind, you can meditate anywhere, in the bath, on the tube, or whilst out walking. Even the most active minds need a rest and without too much effort, so much can be achieved.

The West Sussex and Devon retreats offer more countryside and nature trail appeal with gentle walks through the downs and across to lakes in West Susex, or to the Jurrassic coastline in Devon. Walking can help you to feel more open and expansive and this can create the perfectly invigorating exercise, a wonderful complement to the yoga and PIlates sessions.

All your food is included in the price. All of the dishes are vegetarian. The phrases 'you are what you eat and 'wellness starts from within' pretty much sum up or are philosophy on food and juices on this retreat. Chillout Retreats understands and respects the important role it plays in the promotion of wellness and general good health. The cuisine on the retreat is detox orientated, nutritionally balanced, and well thought out to provide you with enough vital vitamins, minerals, and energy to keep you tip-top throughout your stay.

Toxins in the body result from poor diet, stress, pollution, drug use, the water you drink, and environmental exposure. Your bodies tend to accumulate impurities from many different sources including food additives, pesticides, vehicle exhaust fumes, medical drug residues, and internal body processes. If you are distressed, under par or overweight, the natural elimination of these waste products may be too slow for the body in the long term. This is why Chillout Retreats helps to kick start a healthier lifestyle whilst on retreat with them and your detox cuisine helps to cleanse to help your system enabling it to cope with the daily demands placed on it.

Most importantly, Chillout Retreats can cater for all intolerances and allergies. They always have wheat-free, gluten, and dairy free options. The onsite food enthusiast, Lucie, will freshly prepare all breakfasts, lunches, and dinners on the majority of the retreats. She is passionate about food and creates the heartiest dishes that are considerate to body and mind. Wherever possible, fresh and local produce is used to support the local economy which is also high on the agenda. Unlimited fresh fruit and a fine selection of de-caffeinated tea and coffee are available 24 hours a day.

Detox juices

  • Every day, a chillout retreat begins with a wheatgrass shot plus a detox, vitamin, and nutrient packed fresh juice or smoothie.

  • Selection of Dorset muesli, cereals, yogurts, fruit, toasts, tea, orange juice.
  • Freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices

Detox superfoods, soups, and juices are provided on all detox retreats

"What a wonderful week we shared, out of all the 8 different Yoga retreats I have been on, around the world, this one has been the best one by far. The reason for this is that the company was superb, each and every one of you contributed to making this my favorite retreat ever and I am delighted and proud to have met you all. We all agree how wonderful the food was, the venue, the weather and how lovely to share the yoga with people of varying degrees of experience. Well done Nat on making the classes so inclusive for all at whatever level."

"I arrived on my chillout retreat unable to focus on anything, extremely stressed and wanting to become more relaxed but stronger in body and mind. Life's stresses and prolonged competing priorities had drained me so that I could no longer make decisions that included my own wellbeing because I did not exist on my list of priorities. Chillout retreats showered us all with so many wonderful experiences - invigorating yoga, peaceful meditation, amazing food - friendship and love in the wonderful setting of Puglia - all that the mind and body craves for. I am now mended."

"Chillout Retreats is an experience for everybody. It is a holiday from everyday stresses and strains, a real treat for the body and soul. Everything about the week was wonderful and the Chillout team think of everything to make this a wonderful and memorable experience. I was thoroughly spoilt and looked after, nothing was too much trouble. For anyone considering their retreats - go, go, go - you will not regret it!"

"Thanks so much for a truly wonderful week. Leadership and organisation are always key factors in making the retreat work but it was your amazing warmth, serenity and brilliance that made the week so very special. A huge thank you. Back home now, I'm constantly reminded of our special group. I find myself smiling with fond memories. Thanks to you all!"

"I was lucky enough to WIN a CHILLOUT RETREAT at the OM Yoga Show in London last October. My first ever retreat! I was so impressed with the beautiful Barn venue and vast views over Arundel. What made it so special was that Chillout Retreats is family run by sisters Nat and Lucy - Nat teaches yoga and mindfulness, while Lucy dishes up delicious, nourishing veggie food. Their daughters helped with mealtimes, cooking pancakes and making desserts and even clearing away the dishes. Together, they created a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. There were 3 yoga classes and 1 yogalates class over the weekend, each with a different theme - from restorative to dynamic, with easy-to-follow guidance and lots of fun with balancing and partner poses. I enjoyed doing core and stability moves, balancing a ball on your back, and imagining you're a king prawn in a sushi roll, while lying back over your partner in childs pose. We also had two long evening mindfulness sessions, on the breath and on compassion. It's so rare in modern life to treat yourself to a longer meditation. I was a little nervous about who was going to be on the retreat, and how we would mix, but Nat & Lucy created an optimal environment for us to relax and have a laugh together. We ate together, went on a walk exploring the beautiful cathedral, castle and surrounding countryside in monsoon rains, (we saw the funny side!) and had fun creating and sharing visions in a life coaching workshop. The retreat lived up to its title for everyone, and the following Monday morning, when my daughter shared the fact that she hadn't brought her homework book home over the weekend, and had lost all her uniform shirts in the last couple of weeks, there were no raised voices, just two people calmly discussing the best way forward. That's the power of Chillout Retreats."

"I Just wanted to say how much me and my sister enjoyed this weekend. I feel like a new person today! Really helped me put things into perspective and I realized I need to make more time for myself. Off to yoga tonight you'll be pleased to hear! Definitely going to stop being too busy to look after myself. So thank you! It was such a pleasure to meet you and the rest of the gang."

"The accommodation was of a really high standard and although mixed ability, the yoga classes really challenged me at times. I felt muscles that I didn't even know that I had. It has given me the confidence to find a more advanced class when I get home. The food was delicious, please let me know when you publish a retreat cook book."

  • Review by Jacquie Kirk from Champneys

"Chill out Retreats exceeded my expectation. The group was very inclusive irrespective of yoga level. The venue at Champneys was great but by far the most outstanding aspect of the weekend was Natalie. Her style and balance between yoga, personal lifestyle and way of being was very encouraging and uplifting. Great weekend , when I arrived on Friday night I was very stressed out and by Saturday morning the tension had just gone.", edited

  • Review by Sophie Middleton

"I did enjoy the retreat thank you. I found it very relaxing, and the people I met were lovely. However, I have a few comments that I’d like to make that I hope will help to improve things for future retreats:"

"1) I was a bit disgruntled to find out (after I had eaten it!) that there was barley in the Saturday night meal. I am gluten intolerant and had filled out a form saying so two weeks before the retreat. I would have expected there to be a gluten free alternative at every meal or at least made clear that it contained gluten before I ate it. As it turned out, I was totally fine afterwards so it was no big deal for me, but might have been for others."

"2) the yoga was quite slow and repetitive. We did a very similar and slow paced class for all four yoga sessions and I guess I just expected it to be a bit more varied and there to be a few more options to work a bit harder for fitter people in the group. I totally understand that you have to cater for all levels in each class but more than half the class were very fit and active and I felt like we could have done with a bit more heat. Especially for the Saturday morning class which I left feeling quite under-worked and like I needed to go for a run to work off some energy!"

"3) the massage was lovely but we were charged more than double the masseurs normal going rate. I don’t know if this is normal commission rates (?) but it seems a bit steep to me. We found a flier from the masseuse showing her normal rate shown to be 30 GBP. I was charged 65 GBP." website, edited

  • Review by Admin response from Chillout Retreats to Sophie Middleton

"Thank you for your constructive feedback, our aim is to improve and positively develop our retreats in any way that we can. As a rule we do offer different levels, variety and options to suit our guests wide range of abilities in classes. On this particular retreat we did have a couple of guests requiring extra care, recovering from invasive cancer treatment, so the teacher felt it more appropriate to keep the retreat 'chilled out' as that is the vibe what we hoped to create for everyone. The treatment rates are fixed across all venues and are inline with current prices and, quite rightly as you pointed out here, do reflect commissions and treatment room rentals that we have to pay. Once again thank you for your feedback and we are pleased that you did enjoy the retreat, found it very relaxing and enjoyed meeting the lovely people. Chillout Retreats" website, edited

"I would like to confirm that our total experience at the Devon Chillout retreat was wonderful. We relaxed – I mean ‘chilled out’, learnt loads, stretched, meditated, laughed, walked, ate super food and came away feeling so much better, maybe it should be available on the NHS! We will be back for more I’m sure. Keep it up, the ingredients are definitely right." website, edited, edited

"I can honestly say it was a very refreshing and revealing weekend, and I came back feeling very calm and rested and, in the main, have managed to keep that calmness with me ever since. My mind seems much less cluttered, and more able to focus and stay focused, and I know Jo has benefitted from being able to get a decent deep sleep most nights which is a big plus for both of us. We laugh most days but mostly when we are happy and chilled - you can benchmark how good a weekend is by our laughter, so I think that demonstrates an A+ for this one."

I just wanted to say thank you for the time you took with me during the class and the information sheets you sent me. I have had fantastic success following your advice and now very rarely suffer any aches or pains associated with my office work. The roller in particular has been brilliant - and made a huge difference to my day-to-day life! Many thanks again, Katharine. If heaven is going to be as wonderful as this weekend then I am ready to go. I have experienced what true happiness feels like. Thank you."

"These sessions made me feel like I had been on holiday for a month as I reconnected with my mind and body. I liked that the chillout team joined in on the classes - as it felt like we were all having the same experiences together. I left the weekend feeling very nurtured by everyone and best of all feeling nurtured by myself. I have come back to busy London with a firm knowledge of how to combat the stresses that are mostly bought on by myself and most importantly with the knowledge that I need to be nice to myself feed myself with healthy food and healthy thoughts. I feel wonderful and very grounded."

"It was such a good little break, loved all the yoga, food, beautiful walk, and a really nice bunch of people. You set a really good tone - it was very relaxed and people were able to experience the weekend in whichever way they wanted to, without any feeling that we 'should' be doing one thing or another... which I think played a big role in making it so refreshing and enjoyable. I will be back -you will see more of me, and I suspect you may meet some of my friends in future too... I've been recommending it to everyone!"
