Natalie Smit-Ash

Natalie Smit-Ash has practiced yoga for over 20 years. She is a Hatha yoga teacher, a qualified holistic therapist and a Reiki teacher. She has over 14 years of qualification and experience in the field of complementary health. She was born into a family of complementary therapists with her grandfather practicing conventional medicine alongside acupuncture and Reiki with the Native American Indians in North America. Natalie has completed massage training in Thailand, practiced yoga in India and expanded her knowledge of aromatherapy and reflexology in Australia and China.

Yoga outside on the grass was an absolute treat with the warm air and sounds of nature all around. Partner yoga on Saturday was a lovely surprise and hugely effective at helping go further with my asanas. The food was amazing - tasty and super healthy.

The yin gentleness of the experience and the dedication of the team.

The choice of the accommodation included the reading material and relaxation space as well as the refectory dinner table.

The yoga/ lates sessions were gentle and chakra balancing, and the meditations calming to the nervous system. We were privileged to enjoy the sunshine sessions too.

I enjoyed the walk with its silent meditation, the nutritional talk and the introduction to aromatherapy

"Chillout Retreats at Gayles"

This was the best decision I’ve made in about ten years. Nat is a fantastic teacher and each class was different enough to keep it interesting, whilst also allowing us to see our progress with various sequences. I really felt supported and encouraged to try things I didn’t think I could do, without feeling like I was being pushed too far, or doing anything I didn’t want to do.

Becs was also the best ‘Remindfulness coach’ and meditation guide - I’d never done this before and her personal, kind, and relaxed way of guiding us meant I forgot my cynicism without even realising.

The food at Gayles was phenomenal, as was the scenery.

I loved the workshops and walks and I’ve left feeling like I’ve met an incredible bunch of inspiring people.

The yoga practises was better than any other I’ve known.

The instructors were knowledgeable and welcoming.

Life's stresses and prolonged competing priorities had drained me so that I could no longer make decisions that included my own wellbeing because I did not exist on my list of priorities. Chillout Retreats

I was lucky enough to WIN a CHILLOUT RETREAT at the OM Yoga Show in London last October. My first ever retreat! I was so impressed with the beautiful Barn venue and vast views over Arundel. What made it so special was that Chillout Retreats is family run by sisters Nat and Lucy - Nat teaches yoga and mindfulness, while Lucy dishes up delicious, nourishing veggie food. Their daughters helped with mealtimes, cooking pancakes and making desserts and even clearing away the dishes. Together, they created a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. There were 3 yoga classes and 1 yogalates class over the weekend, each with a different theme - from restorative to dynamic, with easy-to-follow guidance and lots of fun with balancing and partner poses. I enjoyed doing core and stability moves, balancing a ball on your back, and imagining you're a king prawn in a sushi roll, while lying back over your partner in childs pose. We also had two long evening mindfulness sessions, on the breath and on compassion. It's so rare in modern life to treat yourself to a longer meditation. I was a little nervous about who was going to be on the retreat, and how we would mix, but Nat & Lucy created an optimal environment for us to relax and have a laugh together. We ate together, went on a walk exploring the beautiful cathedral, castle and surrounding countryside in monsoon rains, (we saw the funny side!) and had fun creating and sharing visions in a life coaching workshop. The retreat lived up to its title for everyone, and the following Monday morning, when my daughter shared the fact that she hadn't brought her homework book home over the weekend, and had lost all her uniform shirts in the last couple of weeks, there were no raised voices, just two people calmly discussing the best way forward. That's the power of Chillout Retreats.
