The retreat will take place in a private manor house, which dates back to the 17th century with recent reconstruction, bringing you all the comforts of modern contemporary life. This rural property is set in 16 acres of gorgeous, green, and natural scenery.

The property includes comfortable en-suite bedrooms, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis court, and a lake. Recently, a pavilion was built near the swimming pools and surrounded by gardens to provide a dedicated place for your daily yoga practice.


During this retreat, Jess will be your yoga teacher, she’s an ISHTA yoga teacher - ISHTA means individual and this retreat will be all about you! Jess teaches in a way that allows you to honor and nurture your body. The yoga program will be carefully designed to lead you deeper and deeper into your practice and is suitable for all levels of experience.

Every morning, you will practice a mindful Vinyasa flow. These long and healing sessions will give you time to connect to yourselves in a way you just don’t get at home. They will be just the right balance between effort and surrender. Each session will incorporate breathwork and yoga Nidra or meditation.

Every afternoon, there will be a deeply restoring Yin and Restorative session. These slower sessions allow healing on a much deeper level and are the perfect antidote for those with busy lives and minds. Each session will incorporate breathwork and yoga Nidra or a meditation.

You will take time to share, to walk in nature, enjoy massages, journal, work on your intentions, combined with periods of silence and reflection. With delicious food, company, and sunshine you’ll return home feeling refreshed, invigorated, and inspired.

Sample itinerary

September 28, 2017 - Welcome

At 4:00 p.m. you will check in, relax, and unpack. Yoga practice will be at 5:30 p.m. You will have a delicious vegetarian meal with regional wine at 8:00 p.m.

September 29, 2017 - Yoga and rest

You will start your day with a morning meditation and yoga session followed by a nourishing brunch. Afterwards, there will be time to relax, enjoy the house, its facilities, and its 16 acres of natural surroundings. Optional visit to Ponte de Lima is also available. In the afternoon, there will be a yoga practice followed by a delicious dinner with wine.

September 30, 2017 - Yoga and explore

You will start your day with a morning meditation and yoga practice. Afterwards, you can swim, relax, read, or write under a shady tree by the pool. After an afternoon yoga practice, you will have a delicious dinner with wine.

October 1, 2017 - Yoga and meditation in nature

You will start your day with a morning yoga practice followed by brunch. Afterwards, there will be time to relax, enjoy the house, its facilities, and its 16 acres of natural surroundings. There will be a meditation session in the nature followed by an afternoon yoga session. You will have dinner with regional wine in the evening.

October 2, 2017 - Morning yoga, buffet brunch, and departure

You will start your day with a morning meditation and yoga session before the closing ceremony. After having brunch together for the last time, it will be the time to say goodbyes.

Jess is an advanced E-RYT 500-hour ISHTA certified teacher. She has been teaching for over eight years and practicing for nearly 20 years. She also teaches Yin, Restorative, and Pre- and Post-Pregnancy yoga in Hertfordshire, London, and worldwide.

The chef and team offer a creative and special Mediterranean cuisine using products of the highest quality with local, organic, seasonal fruit and vegetables. The kitchen offers loose leaf, herbal teas, coffee, and fruit before your morning yoga session. Brunch includes freshly squeezed juices, loose leaf teas, homemade muesli and granola, fresh fruit, seeds, nuts, yoghurts, dairy and plant based milks, free-range eggs, fresh breads and pastries, homemade cakes, and hot specialities.

The kitchen is open again in the afternoon for you to help yourself to salads, fruit, fresh bread, and homemade cakes. Evening buffet style meals are fresh and lovingly prepared, offering a variety of plant based bowls of goodness for you to enjoy. All meals use seasonal, local, or organic produce to provide delicious, nutritious, and soulful food. The chef can cater for all dietary needs. Delicious wine from the region is served with evening meals.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Chia Retreats will pick you up from the airport.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 25% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 42 days before arrival.
