Described as the place “where Robinson Crusoe meets Architectural Digest,” Haramara Retreat is a magical and idyllic place created and designed to provide a natural and supportive environment for groups, couples, and individuals to relax, renew, and restore well-being. Haramara is known for and prides itself on, making each guest’s stay magical.

Haramara (“Mother Sea” in the native Huichol Indian language) is an exclusive, intimate and secluded seaside retreat offering superior mind-body-spirit experiences along with sensual tropical harmony to every guest. Haramara offers serenity, seclusion, and security to ensure relaxing and renewing yoga and wellness retreats.

Each cabana has its own private open-air bathroom with a sink, toilet, and hot water shower. Female only dorm accommodates up to eight people and has two private bathrooms - each dorm bathroom has two sinks, one toilet, and two hot water showers. All accommodations are hand-built with impeccable craftsmanship and offer exceptional views of the ocean and jungle canopy.

The magnificent 360-degree view yoga pavilions, with their high thatched roofs and handcrafted hardwood floors, have been positioned to take advantage of the panoramic views of lush mountains and while taking advantage of the soothing ocean breezes. Well stocked with all the yoga props.

The restaurant offers exceptional, creative, local cuisine that includes fresh and delicious mostly organic gourmet meals. The open-aired spa facility puts you back in touch with nature, as you are pampered body and spirit.

The pool is an outstanding feature; an infinity over the Pacific! The pool area and terrace boast a wonderful juice and snack bar, serving also before dinner cocktails.

Haramara can accommodate up to 50 guests. The sleeping cabana experience is enhanced without electricity allowing the illumination of oil lamps and candles leaving behind the tedious demands of the electronic age.

Yoga shalas

On two separate knolls, each with a different but expansive view, sit two magnificent yoga shalas. Each yoga shala has been hand-built of all-natural materials with high roofs and handcrafted hardwood floors. Both yoga shalas are positioned to take advantage of the panoramic and ever-changing views of the lush mountains and vast ocean while also taking advantage of the soothing ocean breezes.

Things to do (optional)

Spa services

The wellness center offers sheer indulgence and exquisite pampering to compliment your stay with a wide selection of services. Take advantage of the variety of massage styles that are offered - traditional Japanese, deep tissue, Swedish, reflexology, Shiatsu, therapeutic, Chi Nei Tsang, Thai and many more. They also offer acupuncture, manicures, pedicures, body scrubs, and facials.

Optional evening temazcal ceremony

Participate in a drug-free trip of the senses. The temazcal, or sweatlodge ceremony, is a very ancient purification ceremony that symbolizes the cycle of death and rebirth. The ceremony is a journey, both challenging and beautiful, with many colors and sensations. It cannot be fully described or explained as each person’s experiences along their journey will be different.

There are many activities and excursions available that allow you to see and experience the incredible natural area surroundings. Get out on the water with a whale-watching, snorkeling, or surfing excursion and get into the jungle with a horseback riding, zip line canopy, crocodile refuge or ancient petroglyph tour.

Shopping

Sayulita is a shopper’s paradise. Dozens of boutiques and roadside stalls have been set up all over the town, whereof artisans, craftspeople, seamstresses, woodcarvers, painters, etc. are kept busy supplying the tourist demand. Sometimes vendors crowd the beaches and streets offering you T-shirts, pareos, necklaces, friendship bracelets, drinks, and food.

Surfing

Surfing has been one of the major attractions of Sayulita since the first surfers came to town around the early '70s. Sayulita should be on every surfer’s to-do list, whether you are a beginner looking to try wave-riding through your first surf lesson, a skilled surfer hoping to get barreled at one of Sayulita’s legendary spots, or a pro hoping to test your tube-riding skills and airs while riding one of the world’s most perfect waves.
