Yoga teacher training eligibility

Any person has interest in learning ancient traditional yoga and its applied science, with the ability to follow the instructions and lectures in English.

The applicant should be between 18 to 70 years old at the time of admission.

The applicant should be in a reasonably good health condition as we have a busy course schedule with at least 4 hours of physical practice and the remaining class time for lectures, meditation, chanting and other activities each day.

Orientation meeting

Our opening fire ceremony and orientation meeting will take place on the first day training, starting at 3.00 p.m. to ensure students know where classes are to be held. This is also to familiarize each student with the course facilities and to allow them to meet each other and their teachers. Student attendance at the orientation day is mandatory.

Code of conduct

We practice four hours of asanas (yoga of varying types) each day. One should be prepared for physical activity and willing to follow the instructor despite their personal experience or preference. Our course is carefully designed by highly experienced professionals to teach many different styles of yoga. Our students must commit to take part in each variety without challenging the instructors.

95% attendance is mandatory. Participants must follow the schedule and attend all physical, theory, and practical classes as well as yoga activities. Tardiness is not tolerated and anyone repeatedly interrupting classes or diminishing the experience of other students will be dismissed from the ashram without refund.

We are happy to explain these terms and conditions, however they are non-negotiable. Those demanding exceptions or behaving inappropriately toward our students or staff will be dismissed from the Ashram immediately without refund.

  • Dr Sushil Yogi

    Dr. Sushil Yogi was born in Haridwar, in the foothills of the Himalayas on the holy banks of the Ganges. The founder of this organization, he is a highly qualified yoga teacher. His credentials include a Ph.D. (Doctrate) in yoga, two years masters degree in human consciousness and yoga science (M.Sc.), a one year post graduate diploma in yoga, a one year diploma in Vedic Karmkand, and a three year B.Sc. degree from Gurukul Kangri University, in Haridwar, India.

  • Dr. Vineet

    Dr. Vineet is a highly qualified Ayurvedic medical therapist. He received his Ayurved acharya (B.A.M.S.) degree in medical science from Gurukul Medical College in Haridwar, India. Additionally, he has a certificate in yoga and has participated in the International Ayurveda and Panchkarma Congress held in New Delhi last 2006. He has experience in creating formulas of Ayurvedic herbal drugs and medicine, and knowledge for the treatment of chronic diseases such as diabetes, joint pains, obesity, and skin disorders.

  • Miyuki

    Miyuki was born in Chiba, Japan. She is a registered Yoga Alliance Sivananda yoga teacher, having completed the 200 hour course at the Neyyar Dharm Asham in Kerala, India. Additionally, she has a three month yoga certification from Kaivalyadham in Lonavala, India, and a 200 hour Advanced Meditation certificate from Thailand. Since 2007, Miyuki has been teaching yoga and organizing retreats in Japan, as well as guiding spiritual tours in India and Hawaii. She joined MaharishiYoga Vihar Foundation in 2009. She teaches Hatha and Sivananda yoga in our yoga teacher training courses.

    Gurukul Kangri University (Yoga)

    Dr. Shobha was born in Haridwar, India into a noble Hindu family. Her parents have been a great source of inspiration to her since her early childhood. They followed and practiced the teaching of ARYA SAMAJ, which helped Shobha to understand the ancient Vedic wisdom. Dr. Shobha did her Ph.D. in Yoga Philosophy on Neuroses and Yogic Treatment with specific reference to Patanjali Yoga Philosophy from Gurukul Kangri University, which is one of the most well-known universities in India; for yoga, philosophy, Sanskrit, and Veda etc. Dr. Shobha knows many yogic techniques to overcome anxiety, stress,

    Yogacharya Amit practicing yoga since 2003. Amit is also running a social firm NGO named "Happy Faces Foundation". This NGO is working for education of children in backward areas in India.

  • Yogi Devendra

    Yogi Devendra is a multi-style Yoga Teacher who has a great outlook towards his teachings. He is a trained hatha yoga teacher. He has done diploma and certificate courses in Yogic Sciences and now he has completed his Masters in Yogic Sciences as well. Apart from being a trained Hatha Yoga teacher, he is also well in Ashtanga-Vinyasa flow. His diversity of this multi-style teaching makes him unique. He has a long-term experience of training people and giving them the exact base in their practices. He is a person with a very cool behavior towards his work and a dynamic personality.

McLeod Ganj, or upper Dharamsala, is nestled into the foothills of the Dhauladhars, which rises to 4546 meters. A hill station from the days of the British Raj, it is now often referred to as The Little Lhasa and offers travelers a unique opportunity to experience vibrant Tibetan culture. McLeod Ganj is 9 kilometers by bus (4 kilometers via the taxi route) up the hill from lower Dharamsala or Kotwali Bazar. As the headquarters of the Kangra district, the local Indian government offices are located there.

The residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama is opposite the Tsuklakhang. McLeod Ganj is largely populated by Tibetans and it is surrounded by pine, Himalayan oak, rhododendron, and deodar forests with a magnificent view of the Kangra Valley. Today, streams of Tibetan refugees from Tibet and other parts of the world converge at McLeod Ganj to receive blessings and teachings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Western and Indian tourists, academics, and spiritual seekers come here in large numbers to see the rebirth of an ancient and profound civilization. The high altitude and cool weather contribute physically to this recreation of original Tibetan environment.

It is recommended to fly into Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in Delhi, and then to Gaggal Airport (DHM), also known as Kangra Airport or Dharamsala-Kangra Airport.

Traveling to and from the Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) to Dharamsala is your financial responsibility, however Chandra Yoga International are happy to book a taxi for you. If you'd like for them to do so, please forward your flight info to them and we they confirm with you that a driver will be sent to pick you up. Look for your name on a sign at the airport. If you prefer to travel another way, it is your responsibility to arrange and pay for the travel separately. The taxi fare from Gaggal Airport (DHM) to McLeod Ganj is 13-18 USD, and the ride takes about 40 minutes.
