Some yoga traditions abstain from practicing yoga during the full moon, but just like the Goan full moon party founders, we believe that each full moon is something to celebrate. It is an awe-inspiring universe we live in and the full moon is the ultimate symbol of that wonder. During this retreat, you will stay in a shared twin room or a double room. Chalet Rosière has six luxury bedrooms, a traditional open plan kitchen, a washer and a dryer, a large flat screen television, a digital video disc player with a large collection, a dining area, a lounge with open fireplace and library, and an under-floor heated yoga studio with an open fireplace, a dedicated treatment room, and an outdoor hot tub with stunning mountain views.


From the 21st to the 28th of July Chalet Rosière will host a week of nourishing morning and evening yoga taught by Sarah Campbell-Lloyd. Every morning we will greet the day with 75-minutes of Vinyasa Flow to get your breath and blood flowing. Every evening we will wind down with 75-minutes of deep Yin Yoga stretching, to release physical and emotional tension and welcome sleep.

Five of the six full days of the retreat will be spent hiking the stunning trails of the Savoie Mont Blanc mountain range. Clean mountain air and breathtaking views are food for the soul. Hikes will build up in duration, from 2-3 hour hikes with lots of rest time to 6-7 hour hikes along the challenging terrain. During each hike Sarah will lead guided meditations that will immerse you in the wilderness, tuning into the sounds, smells and the soil beneath your feet.

By giving yourself a week of freedom in the mountains, by tuning in to nature, and by nurturing your body and soul, your own inner wilderness will be given the space to be. We’ll check in throughout the week, and support each other with practices to honor inner and outer wilderness in our daily lives.

On Friday the 27th of July 2018, we’ll celebrate the Buck full moon with a cacao meditation. In addition, after dinner, we’ll all wrap up and head outside into the fields for stargazing, and to witness the lunar eclipse. If you have a dream that needs to come to fruition, this will be a powerful moment to set your intentions.

Rest will also be an important part of the week. One full day will be given over to rest at the chalet, and this day will remain flexible to make the most of the best weather days for hiking. Downtime at the chalet can be spent sleeping deeply in our gorgeous bedding, exploring our extensive library, curling up by the fire with a great book or journal, forest bathing, drinking in the views or watching the sunset over the mountains from the bubbly goodness of our outdoor Jacuzzi. You will each also receive a 60-minute treatment with our holistic therapy expert, and be able to book additional treatments during the week.

Sam Paton-Smith
Sam Paton-Smith is Chalet Rosière’s holistic massage and therapy expert with over 10 years of experiences and qualifications including a deep tissue massage, sports massage, reflexology, and craniosacral therapy. Sam works to treat mostly skiers, hikers, and cyclists and has an incredibly intuitive touch. A treatment from Sam is the perfect way to enhance your yoga and mountain sports experience, to protect against injury, and to aid muscle recovery and strengthening.
Sarah Campbell-Lloyd
Yoga Alliance RYT 500 (Yoga)
Sarah Campbell-Lloyd is a 500-hour certified yoga teacher and has been exploring yoga for over a decade. Sarah is particularly inspired by the combination of Alignment and Vinyasa yoga as well as the ability to create freedom in the body. Her teaching delivers a lighter, more grounded, and present awareness in the body and mind through a synchronization of breath and movements. Sarah teaches on Chalet Rosière mountain retreats and at her thriving East Sussex yoga studio, Yard Yoga. Sarah incorporates elements of yogic mythology into her classes - offering helpful metaphors.

Retreat location

Chalet Rosière is a boutique mountain lodge and retreat centre located on the edge of a charmingly rural French hamlet, surrounded by jaw-dropping views and pristine alpine forests. The chalet enjoys an intense tranquillity at all times of day and breath-taking sunsets over our uninterrupted mountain views.

There are six luxury bedrooms, a traditional open plan kitchen and dining area and lounge with open fireplace and library, an under-floor heated yoga studio with an open fireplace, a treatment room, and an outdoor hot Jacuzzi with stunning mountain views.

During this retreat you will be served a daily menu of rustic, nutritionally balanced vegan meals using fresh local produce, some from the Chalet Rosière garden. Meals will be hearty and full of flavour. You’ll be glowing after a week of their alcohol free, refined sugar free, palm oil free, detoxifying menu.

During this retreat, you will receive a 60-minute treatment with a holistic therapy expert and will be able to choose from deep tissue massage, reflexology, or craniosacral therapy. You will also be able to enjoy extra holistic massage treatments for an additional cost. The Chalet Rosière exclusive holistic therapy expert specializes in deep tissue massage, natural facials, reflexology, and craniosacral therapy.

How to get there

This retreat has been scheduled to encourage train travel over flying. The train journey to the Alps is a scenic, stress free and low cost way to travel to the region from many European destinations. Current French train strikes are scheduled to finish in late June.

A free minibus transfer service will be provided from Lyon Part Dieu and Bourg Saint Maurice train stations to the chalet. All guests travelling by train will receive 2% cash back on arrival to say thank you for choosing a lower carbon travel option.

The arrival transfer will pick up at 1:15 p.m. on the 21st from Lyon Part Dieu. The return transfer will drop off at the same location late afternoon on the 28th. It takes around 2.5 hours to get to the chalet.

If you are unable to reach us by train, it will also be possible to fly to Lyon–Saint-Exupéry Airport (LYS), and then take a taxi over to the train station to link up with the provided minibus transfer.

Alternatively you could fly to nearby airports Alpes–Isère Airpor (GNB) / Chambéry Airport (CMF) / Geneva International Airport (GVA) and book a private transfer / coach / train from there to Bourg Saint Maurice where we would meet you. Please run train and flight times past your hosts before booking.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 30% of the total price.
  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 28 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
