This retreat will be held in Baja California, Mexico. A little about Todos Santos Pueblo Mágico located 10 miles to the north of Cerritos.

In 1723, Father Jaime Bravo established Todos Santos as the mission of Nuestra Senora del Pilar de La Paz. It eventually reached mission status and was named Santa Rosa de Todos Santos in honor of its benefactor, Dona Rosa de la Pena. At this time, the population of La Paz mission was transferred here, and then unfortunately abandoned in 1749. Since this time, it has carried the name of Nuestra Senora del Pilar de Todos Santos.

The village prospered during the last half of the 19th century and first half of the 20th century on sugar production and in 1850, there were eight sugar mills in the area. Sugar production lasted nearly 100 years and most of the beautiful colonial style buildings and handsomely-built homes were financed by sugar monies. Many of these buildings fell into ruins in the 1950s when there were droughts, the water table dropped drastically and began to dry up, causing a great loss of cane crops. This, along with the low prices of sugar after WWII, caused a great financial decline for the area and forced many of the families living here to move elsewhere. Now the rich farmlands have been re-worked and the town prospers from an abundance of Poblano chili farming, avocado, papaya, mango orchards (and organic vegetables), fishing, and ranching.

Since the early 1980s, there has been an influx of tourist activity due to the paving of Mexico Highway 19 from La Paz through to Cabo San Lucas. In recent years, many fine artists, artisans, and crafts people have moved into the area. Todos Santos is becoming well-known as a cultural & artistic center. There is great optimism that eco-tourism will be their future.

Surfing

Breathtaking, matchless and thrilling would be words to describe what it’s like to surf in the waters right off of Cerritos Beach. From the huge swells in certain areas to smaller waves, the beach has something to offer every kind of surfer. It’s become such a known spot that people from all over the world come to ride the waves all year round. Water temperatures vary depending on the time of year but nothing nearly cold enough to keep surfers out of the waves.

Turtle release

There are three different types of sea turtles that can be found along the shores: Leatherback, Olive Ridley, and Black. Leatherbacks nest from October to April, Blacks from September to February while Olive Ridleys nest year round. Depending on the time of year, the hatchlings occur about six to seven times throughout the year so your chances of being a part of this momentous event are fairly high.

Whale watching

Although whale watching can be done throughout the entire year, peak season begins in January and continues until April. If you find yourself in Cerritos Beach during those months, you are in for a cherished treat. Every year around that time, ten thousand gray whales start arriving after a long and slow journey from the cold waters of Alaska to the warm waters along the peninsula. And boy, do they put on a show for their observers when they finally reach their destination.

"If you are looking for a nice place to stay in the Pescadero and Cerritos Beach area look no further. I've stayed in other hotels in the area and this one by far is the best. Great food and drink. The staff is very professional and courteous. The rooms are bright and clean. We stayed in an ocean front room...you will not be disappointed!!"

"If you're looking to get away and relax , away from the mega-resorts and crowds in Cabo San Lucas, Cerritos Beach Inn is your place. The stunning 10 room hotel is only steps away from a beautiful, deserted beach."

"The booking process was made easy thanks to the advice and prompt responses from the co-owner, Andy. He made some great recommendations for local restaurants and suggested Cactus Rent a Car, which turned out to be a great choice."

"Upon arrival, we were greeted by co-owner Jim. He can almost always be found on the property and takes great pride in providing for all of his guests needs."

"There's really no reason to leave Cerritos Beach Inn once you get there. While you enjoy the beautiful views of the beach, the friendly staff ( Enzo, Fernando and Luis ) are happy to bring you anything you might need. Arturo, the chef, will make you anything from Biscuits and Gravy to Surf and Turf, and it's all very good. The rooms are very nice and kept spotless by Isabela."

"What a great place to spend a day or two, or eight like we did. A wonderful hotel that is off the beaten path in a truly beautiful place. We highly recommend Cerritos Beach Inn and look forward to our next visit."

"This is a small hotel.........separate buildings actually, set on Cerritos Beach just to the south of Pescadero which, itself, is 10-15 kilometers south of Todos Santos. The new four-lane freeway from the La Paz or San Jose del Cabo airports runs within a few hundred yards of this place. Cerritos is one of the best swimming beaches on the Pacific Coast south of Todos Santos. The nearby point, seen in the background of one of the photos, provides a partial block to the north Pacific storms. The coast between Todos Santos and San Jose del Cabo is developing rapidly. Get here quickly before it turns into another area like that between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas........complete development. Do it soon before the ambiance is lost."

"Nice boutique hotel on the beach, very comfortable, friendly staff and helpful owner. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner here because the food was that good (perfect cream gravy). Rooms are large and outdoor patio is a great spot at any hour. Beach club and swimmable area about 15 mins walk. We didn't drive all weekend. Definitely coming back!"

"Situated right on the beach this little in is a great value. Large ocean view rooms and the Pacific Ocean breeze keeps the temperature reasonable even in the hot June off season month. Restaurant, bar, pool and hot tub provides all the amenities of a larger hotel in a boutique setting. Staff is very nice. Highly recommended if you just want to chill."

"Upon entering the grounds you are immediately transported as you climb the bridge over the meandering pool and enter the lovely courtyard. We came for a birthday celebration that was being held her for a very special friend and decided to spend the night since they were running such a great summer special. All rooms $99 - INCLUDING the beachfront rooms, which we scored! We got to chat a bit with the owner as we checked in and got a cocktail which was fun. "

"The hotel appears as if it was converted from a home and upstairs there are a couple of rooms and a lovely open sitting area complete with a sofa and library. From here you can climb up the outside staircase to the roof where there is a 360 degree view. The room was simple and clean with a comfy bed, good linens, a cabinet for clothes and a bathroom with a shower. The large deck was lovely with 2 wood lounges and a table and chairs - complete with a magnificent view of the Pacific. "

"This is such a truly rare gem. When walking through the gate for the first time, my first thought was "I'm in paradise!". It was so tropical looking, clean, and so well maintained. My room had a magnificent view of the ocean. The bathroom was very nice, even a walk in shower that you literally had to walk a few feet to get to the shower head. I was so relieved to find out how incredibly comfortable the bed was. The sheets were of high quality, and the towels; I have never stayed anywhere that had the thickness and length these towels have. I am tall, so that counts for me! The eating area and bar had all windows overlooking the ocean, so you never felt like you ever missed the ocean. The sunsets were a plus to watch. The staff and the owner were so friendly and helpful. They made the trip more enjoyable because they made me feel welcome. The food was very good. I had most of my meals there, simply because I wanted to try out the variety of menu items. Since the food and margaritas were good, why go somewhere else. They even served Eggs Benedict, and really good hamburgers too! They have good Mexican food, but I seemed to stay most of the time with my American food. I never did go in the pool or jacuzzi, but I did enjoy hanging out by the pool. If I get back to Mexico, I would definitely stay here again."
