"Tranquility amongst emerald green"
The setting, the rooms( new, spacious, wonderful view of the rice fields), healthy delicious food( specially breakfast) but above all, the people. They were great! So attentive, helpful, warm. They give the place a soul. Wonderful

"What a good accommodation, lovely people and a great view!"
The Yin Yoga and the included excursions were great!

I come here almost every year, it's one of my favorite spots in Bali! Now you can also do yoga here and they have two very good massage therapists as well! The staff is exellent, Agung can fix anything!
Frankly i would rather not too many people know about this - the trend in Bali is for an area to be discovered and then over-run like what has happened to the formerly quiet Seminyak which is now in our opinion, almost out of control.
Sidemen is reached up either a balinese "main road"or we chose the spectacular winding back road from Manggis after a week in candidasa.
We had heavily researched Sidemen and were not disappointed. Cepik has i think only 6 rooms or so - intimate and special. We picked the top floor Sunrise villa - lovely view over the rice paddies to the hills and also over the school below ( i hope i can find a link to review a visit there). This school is for the equivalent of junior high school to teach the Balinese culture for those who have finished Primary but parents cant afford secondary - every day below our window was song and dance at 4pm - we paid a visit and made a donation - it is supported by a wealthy woman who owns the adjoining resort. a great hour or so. Very uplifting. Also do the 3 hour rice paddy walk through the hotel - $30 for a couple - brilliant.
We hired a scooter, as we always do - really the best way to get around. Most of the wide range of warungs are on the resorts road between it and the main Sidemen village.( see our other restaurant reviews).
Pool charming and peaceful, surprising range of food in house - frankly we were not expecting it to be as good as it was. And Rusty the cute cat comes and sits with you. We ran out of time to eat everywhere we wanted to in the time. Staff charming and could not do enough. Room immaculate comfortable well appointed - there was a problem with TV reception but who cares in Bali?
We went to the street market in Sidemen twice - a real experience- we were the only white folk there and in fact hardly saw another westerner the whole stay though the French seem to have heard about it as we met met more French than anyone!
Enjoy Sidemen while it is still unspoilt and very affordable.
We will be back.
We were upgraded to the sunrise suite upon request and WOW it is a stunning room. The view is breathtaking. Huge comfy bed. Large bathroom with big bath also with a beautiful private view. Very spacious. Quiet and peaceful.
The staff is excellent. The grounds are well maintained. Breakfast was outstanding. Views from the restaurant are incredible. It was very relaxing! So glad we visited Sidemen. The staff helped arrange a motor bike, hiking, and transport to our next destination.
Our only complaints are that there was a brief period on our first night where there was no water. It was resolved by the next morning, but it was a minor inconvenience. The electricity also went out once on our last day, but that was also resolved quickly as they have a back-up generator. The Internet was unreliable and slow and many of the movie channels went out after a few minutes. All and all it was still a wonderful stay and I we would highly recommend it.
This is a beautiful and relaxing place to stay! Sideman is a quite place where you can experience Bali without all the traffic and crowds. We stayed in the sunrise suite which has floor to ceiling windows and great views! The best part of this hotel are the incredibly friendly and kind staff members, who cannot do enough to help you and are always smiling. They even took our laundry into town for it to be done for us at no extra charge!
I highly recommend this place.
One important recommendation: while you are here, please don't miss meeting the beautiful children from the Pasraman Vidya Giri Foundation, who practice Balinese dance and music every day, right next door down the hill, from 4-6 pm every day. They are so happy to meet travelers and teach them all about Balinese culture. Meeting these kids was the highlight of our trip to Bali. Thank you very much to the staff of this beautiful hotel!
The sunrise suite with it's views through the large windows and it's spacious interior is fantastic. There were lots of ants in the room, but fortunately nothing worse, and they left us in peace... It was a very relaxing stay.
The premises are beautiful and it was fun finding one's way through the labyrinth of trails and - yes - lots of steps, which we didn't mind at all. Cute restaurant verandas. A romantic dinner was set up for us at a separate place with lots of candles and charme. Good breakfast and excellent dinner.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff. They arranged a driver for us every day and had good suggestions what to do in what time and where to take a guide.
It's a very rural area, which we loved. Watched the rice farmers and the kids practicing dance and Gamelan music every day from our room. To see something else, you need a car and driver, which is no problem (60 US$ per full day). We were out and about every day, seeing a lot of East Bali: hiked on Mt. Batur, from Tenganan to Tirgangga and through the temples Pura Lentuyang; visited the temples Batur, Besakih, Goa Lawah as well as Klungkung and Ubud.
The climate is perfect, as it's about 300 m altitude and cooler than at the coast.
