Casa Verde is situated in the lush and mystical Andean Mountains of Ecuador near the village of Mindo, known world wide for it's amazing diversity of birds, butterflies, and orchids.

The main house is a large four bed and four bath lodge, hand constructed of local woods, walls of huge windows in every room to observe and absorb wildlife, big kitchen for food preparation instruction, ample yoga practice space, a dining area, and charming porch.

The property has five trails, three waterfalls, and three creeks to explore and enjoy. Because of the fertile location (good temperature, excellent soil, and the right amount of sun and rain) they can grow bananas, avocados, pineapples, citrus, herbs, spices, greens, veggies, and a multitude of exotic flowers right in the front yard all year round.

Eating fresh from the garden is the ultimate goal. Carving out an organic farm in the tropics is a sizable task and requires lots of work, but Casa Verde are determined! They have begun the project of designing natural food production using permaculture principles and invite guests to participate in the creation and tending of gardens. Take what you learn home with you to create or enhance your own food production project, be it an urban or suburban environment.

The water source at Casa Verde comes from a pristine forest mountain spring on the property, the freshest, cleanest, sweetest water anywhere. Air quality is superb. You will only hear the natural sounds of the river and forest and enjoy the lush tranquil mountain views.

Your day begins with personalized one on one Ashtanga yoga practice, tailored to each individual's needs and ability. Beginners, as well as tenured students, will find their practices deepened and refined. Casa Verde Raw Food Jungle Retreat offers a cleansing and enlivening raw food meal plan. Many guests will loose weight effortlessly if needed, while cleansing environmental toxins. The meals are creative and delicious. Guests are invited to participate in food preparation.

Every day will include some form of walking or hiking, depending on guests' individual fitness level. Afternoons are open to rest, read, or take a Thai massage. Help out in the organic gardens if you like!

Wendy Green

Wendy started practicing yoga privately in her room, when she was 15 years old. She had bought BKS Iyengar’s ground breaking book “Light on Yoga” and mimicked the half naked Indian man in the pictures, the year was 1970.

She took her first yoga class in Boston in 1972, where she was introduced to healing powers of raw food while working at the now famous “Hippocrates Health Institute” and eventually headed their raw food kitchen. These two events have shaped the course of her life in every way.

Since this auspicious beginning, she has dedicated her life to learning as much as possible about yoga and diet, walking the walk, talking the talk and sharing what she knows.

She started teaching in 1975 and had her own yoga studio in New Jersey from 1996 to 2005 when she sold everything, moved to the tropics and started her Retreat Center “Casa Verde” in the cloud forest At the time of this writing, Wendy has well over 50,000 teaching hours and has sought out some the world’s most respected teachers.

In 1996 she was introduced to the transformational practice of Ashtanga yoga and has studied in Mysore India with the revered Sri k Patabhi Jois in 1996, 2001, and 2005 for a total of one year’s study with this phenomenal internationally recognized teacher. Since, many senior Ashtanga teachers have graced her with their knowledge, and she continues to take master classes on a regular bases.

In 2009, Wendy went to Thailand and became certified in the healing modality of Thai yoga massage through International Thai Therapist Institute (ITTI). Thai massage and yoga compliment one another tremendously.

Running retreats at Case Verde since 2005 has brought Wendy so much joy and meaning. Living in nature, helping others regain their balance through yoga, diet, and lifestyle is Wendy's personal path and a dream come true.

This retreat will take place near the village of Mindo in Ecuador. The venue is nestled on five acres of cloud forest on the banks of the Mindo river in a verdant valley at the boundary of the mountainous 40 mile Mindo - Nambillo nature preserve in the Andes. Just two hours west of the capital city Quito and four miles outside the village of Mindo, the area is known world wide for its fantastic birding and incredible diversity of plants, orchids, and butterflies.

The village of Mindo is popular with Ecuadorians as well as international travelers on the weekends. The area is loaded with trails, waterfalls, and outdoor activities such as river tubing, hiking, bird watching, horseback riding, orchid gardens, butterfly farms, and sprinkled with eco resorts, hostels, small artisan chocolate factories, cafes, and restaurants.

Only one degree south of the equator and situated at 4500 feet above sea level, the area delights in a consistent "eternal spring" climate; sunny pleasant days averaging 80 degrees (26.6 degrees Celsius), often rain showers mid-late afternoons, and cool in the evenings (bring your hoodie). In other words, perfect for humans, flora, and fauna alike! No wonder this place is alive with abundant beauty.

"I spent seven nights at Casa Verde. Wendy was an amazing hostess - sweet, friendly, informative, but also gave me plenty of space. My main interest in this retreat was to do yoga and hike, I didn't really give the raw food aspect much thought and assumed I would be starving the whole time (so I brought granola bars just in case). I was pleasantly surprised - my non-existing expectations for the food were beyond exceeded. I was very rarely hungry, and the food was phenomenal. Raw vegan desserts exist! So does raw vegan Thai green curry soup! Yum! I will definitely be trying some raw vegan recipes when I get home and will incorporate some of what I have learned into my lifestyle!"

"Wendy herself is the best. She is so dedicated to yoga in her own life that she is a fantastic teacher who could work with any level of yoga practitioner. In just one week I saw more progress in my practice than I have in the past year. "

"The room was super comfortable - I had my own bathroom with a sweet bathtub (bliss on my sore yoga body) and huge windows. The house is very private, and is surrounded by forest, perfect for hiking, and forest bathing. "

"I spent my week reading, yoga-ing, hiking, chatting with Wendy, listening to podcasts, growing to love Wendy's two dogs, sleeping, doing mantra...It was a much needed retreat from my fast paced Toronto life! Oh and I never needed the granola bars!"

"Casa Verde was even better the second time. Wendy Green is a passionate, master yoga instructor who enjoys sharing her knowledge, experience and her beautiful piece of paradise to all her guests. Casa Verde is safe, quiet and located in a pristine setting perfect for that person looking to get some quality "down time" to rejuvenate the mind, body and soul. Programs can be customized to get the most out of what you need during your time. Whether it is just disconnecting from the daily insane world that we live in or inspiring to get back on track with getting into better physical or mental shape Wendy can provide all that and much more. Hiking, daily yoga, meditation, mindful breathing, writing, reading, relaxing , bird watching and eating deliciously prepared raw meals were just some of the daily activities that I did while I was there. I cant wait to visit Casa Verde again!"

"I went to Casa Verde because my eating got out of control and needed someone to help me watch what I eat and lose weight. I had no prior knowledge of raw food diet or yoga. I can honestly say that this retreat has transformed my life. I lost weight (5kg in 10 days!!!), got stronger and fell in love with ashtanga, but most importantly my whole philosophy and opinion about healthy lifestyle has changed. All my life until the retreat I loved sweets, beer, pizza, ice cream etc and often had to restrict myself from eating my favourite foods using willpower if I wanted to lose weight. Wendy has an amazing knowledge on the subject of food, was explaining things to me, also showed me a lot of documentaries and gave me books to read. As a result I now really understand the impact of those foods on my health and make a conscious decision not to eat them anymore, no willpower required. That's an amazing and empowering shift. I am definitely going to continue raw food diet and ashtanga yoga."

"Wendy is an amazing host, the food was super delicious, her property is wonderful and her dogs super cute :) I recommend this retreat to everyone."

"Located in the cloud forest of Mindo, Ecuador, Casa Verde is a beautiful and private yoga and raw food retreat. Wendy Green is an incredible yoga instructor and a wonderful person, giving personalized instruction and support, and the ashtanga yoga made for an invigorating and refreshing morning routine that I am inspired to continue on my own. The first few days were challenging, but by the end of the week,I felt much stronger and steadier. "

"My mother and I were the first people to stay in her newly-built guest house, the Orchid, which is a lovely and comfortable place to spend time relaxing, reading, and writing. I did not mind at all the lack of Internet during the week we stayed there; I enjoyed the quiet and break from the rest of the world, a much-needed retreat from technology for me."

"I was excited to try the diet of raw fruit and vegetables, which turned out to be lovingly prepared, beautifully presented, delicious, and satisfying as well! I'm sixteen, going into college, and a little lazy about preparing food, but learning about raw food has motivated me to eat better and prepare food for myself."

"If you are an activity person, there are some interesting day trips you can take such as a walk down the road to the butterfly farm, zip lining, river tubing in Mindo, a trip to a pre-Incan historical site in Tulipe about 45 minutes away, and more. In addition, Wendy has scenic hiking trails on her property that will take your breath away, and every night we watched documentaries that were interesting and helpful. "

"Relaxing, inspiring, invigorating -- and possibly life-changing if embraced wholeheartedly. Highly recommended!!"

    "Divine. Perfect. Amazing.Need I say more? "

"You will not be disappointed no matter how you choose to spend time at Casa Verde. "

"7 days of raw food and ashtanga yoga with the eclectic Wendy was a beautifully enlightening and transformative experience. "

"The accommodation is superb, location outstanding, attention to detail second to none, and the food was INCREDIBLE. I honestly can't rave about my experience enough. "

"Wendy looks after your every need, with a huge amount of knowledge that comes from 40 years in the yoga, diet and lifestyle world. She is a treasure - tucked away one of the most beautiful parts of the world. "

"Honor your mind, body, and spirit and spend time at Casa Verde - it will change your life in ways you never imagined."

  • Review by Lisa D. from Quito, Ecuador

"Wendy & Garth did an expert job of welcoming me into their home and teaching me about their way of life, including explaining the "why" behind many aspects of the raw vegan lifestyle. I learned a great deal about the effects that meat, dairy, and grains have on our bodies as well as the proper way to consume fruits and veggies. I am a big dog-lover and was delighted to hang out with Wendy & Garth's two sweet and lovely dogs, Rio-Kaia and Luna-Lucy."

"This retreat is really about much more than yoga (though I certainly did learn valuable tips to improve my practice from Wendy) or quitting meat, caffeine, and achieving weight loss, etc. The idea is to set you on a healthier, sustainable path for your future, no matter your starting point. My experience entailed a certain amount of hard work and frankly discomfort to move beyond my comfort zone but was rewarding, educational, and worth it. "

"My advice before deciding to book this retreat is to do your homework, ask a lot of questions, and ensure that you are ready to fully commit to the experience."

"Wow! This may have been an alternative style honeymoon, but this retreat was everything we dreamed it would be and more. Seasoned yogi or beginner, raw vegan or meat eater, in shape or over weight, nature lover or video game enthusiast, none of this matters when you meet Wendy and Garth. They welcome anyone with an open mind, open arms and love to Casa Verde. Casa Verde is located in its own little piece of paradise outside of the cutest town of Mindo. Nothing beats the fresh, clean air, glorious spring fed water, and the peace and quiet offered at this retreat. The food prepared was delicious, colorful, and extremely satisfying. The progress we both made in our yoga practice during our ten day stay was so rewarding and motivating, thanks to the one on one experience Wendy offers. Although it was our first time practicing Ashtanga, Wendy was a wonderful teacher. If only we could bring her home with us! The hiking was incredible with beautiful views and all that nature has to offer. In just ten days we truly grew as individuals, as couple, yogis, and expanded our consciousness leaving us feeling refreshed, full of love and gratitude with clean minds, bodies, and souls. We couldn't be more thankful for this experience or for Wendy and Garth at Casa Verde. We will absolutely be returning! "

"Fantastic Vegan Yoga Retreat in the jungle. Exactly as advertised. Wendy Green is the real thing. She walks her talk. Yoga lifestyle and diet is at the center of her life. As guests my wife and I had a wonderful week at Casa Verde, not only learning from her but also hiking and spending time just being in the jungle, watching the cloud forest change every minute. Casa Verde is nicely surrounded by the forest with all its flowers, hummingbirds, and butterflies. Our bedroom had two of its walls entirely made of windows. Even before getting out of bed we saw a splendid and colorful Mot-Mot (beautiful jungle bird) right in front of the house one morning. One evening we had a gorgeous little tree frog in our window watching us. Lovely peaceful surroundings. The raw vegan diet is nutritious and beautifully presented too. Wendy cumulates more than 50,000 hours of yoga lifestyle teaching - she knows what she is doing. If a raw vegan yoga retreat with personal attention is what you are looking for it does not get better than Casa Verde!"

"In a word "wow". We knew from the moment we arrived that we had made the right decision as to which retreat to go on. Wendy, you instinctively know what people need and you give it lovingly. I felt as if I had been wrapped in a huge cocoon of warmth and compassion from the moment I walked on the property. The food is amazing, one meal was better than the next and the conversation with every meal was thought provoking, lively, and fun. Every adventure was "my favorite". I felt like a kid again... day after day. I haven't had this much fun in years! Waking up and practicing your loving and firm yoga on the deck is by far the best yoga experience of my life."

"You two have really created the most amazing retreat. Beautiful accommodations in a beautiful place with beautiful souls. Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

"Being here has been such a blessing on many levels. I'm so excited about the direction my yoga practice is taking! Thank you for the inspiration and encouragement. The incredible meals fed my body and soul. And I won't even get started on the coconut / cacao pie - fabulous!"

"Casa Mango is simple elegance. The hours I logged on the porch restored my energy. I could go on and on, but what it comes down to is this: I feel more connected to the earth, more in tune with my body, and empowered to create an environment at home that will allow me to maintain these powerful connections. Wendy and Garth, I very much appreciate your warmth and authenticity. Thank you for sharing your time and space with me."

"Wendy, can we come back please?! Everything tastes like water compared to the fruit there (gotta start a garden pronto!). Despite the taste I have continued to do raw foods. I have been practicing yoga every morning, really excited about practicing at home, by myself, this has never happened before. Thank you! I have been sharing my experience with everyone and they can see that it was life changing. I am determined to continue! Hope all is great at Casa Verde."

"I have been to Casa Verde Raw Yoga Hiking Retreat four times since 2008 and am planning my next trip now. I am a huge fan of the place and I am about as "city" as can be. Casa Verde Raw Yoga Hiking Retreat is in a river valley where other "expats" have found the good life, so the infrastructure - quality of the roads and access to Internet if an emergency comes up - is really good."

"The reasons I keep going back multiply every time I go. It is mostly and still about the lifestyle stuff - green, clean, chill, and sustainable. The yoga is the best I have ever done. And nothing has ever helped me feel better in my body than eating raw. I have to say and at the risk of sounding really corny, Casa Verde Raw Yoga Hiking Retreat is in one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Just breathtaking. Birds. Waterfalls. Butterflies. I remember when I first found the site on the www I had a million questions and it took me a year to figure out I could go. But I did and it is amazing!"

"Wendy opens her beautiful home in the Andes cloud forest to guests at her raw food, yoga, and hiking retreat. Her investment in the spiritual and physical health of her guests is enormous. Through videos, books, and teachings my eyes were opened to a very different way to think about nutrition which will change my physical health forever. We practiced Astanga yoga every morning for 90 minutes, and most of the classes were one on one or very small group. Wendy's instruction was excellent, and I feel that I made great strides in correcting my form on postures I have done incorrectly for years. We also hiked daily through spectacular trails in the rain forest of varying degrees of difficulty. The retreat was near the charming town of Mindo where I took a tour of a chocolate factory and a butterfly farm. I also had the chance to interact with many Ecuadorians as I accompanied Wendy on the tasks of her daily life. I came to the retreat very burnt out. After my week-long stay I left feeling invigorated mentally and physically and inspired to make many positive changes in my life style."

"I'm sitting back at home as I write this and missing Casa Verde Raw Yoga Hiking Retreat so badly. There is nothing I have ever done that has compared to the 18 days I spent with Wendy... I feel like a different person. And, as all my friends have told me, I look like a different person too. The yoga is so incredible, I've wanted to start a yoga practice my whole life but always felt way too inflexible. I could barely reach my knees when I arrived. Now, I know I'll carry my yoga practice with me throughout my whole life. On top of that, the food and company are fantastic. The food is just enough to feel satisfied without feeling full, a new concept for me. I lost eight pounds effortlessly while I was there! And I feel so grateful to have had this time around Wendy, who just overflows with knowledge and who's outlook on life is so amazing. I learned so much about self-discipline, harmony, and inner quiet just from being around her."

"At first, I was nervous about traveling alone as a young girl in my 20's, but the travel couldn't have been easier. The driver met me before I even exited the airport and dropped me straight at Wendy's doorstep. I never felt unsafe for a single second throughout my trip."

"If you're thinking about going, stop and just do it. You will never regret it for a single second."

"Your encouragement, teaching, coaching, and leadership gave me the foundation to build a new lifestyle. I am living proof only three months later I am no longer taking any of my medications. My doctor said "keep doing whatever you are doing it's working"."

"Casa Verde Raw Yoga Hiking Retreat is an experience unto itself. Wendy Green is an accomplished and passionate Ashtanga yoga instructor, who just happens to own a bit of paradise. She is the real deal. The retreat is situated in the middle of a cloud forest and it's paradise, the yoga is amazing, the food is delicious and healthy. You will have time to hike, go bird watching (if you are so inclined) or rest and enjoy the amazing beauty around you. Trust me, this is not a vacation, this place will allow you to leave the 21st century behind and listen to your intuition. If you simply need to get away or if you simply need to clear the cobwebs before changing your life, this is the place for you. There are few places in the world that allow you to enjoy the company of your own soul quite like Casa Verde."

Wendy's encouragement and knowledge of raw eating and yoga has given me the tools that I needed to change my life style. Her property is breath taking and her home is beautiful, clean, and welcoming. I slept better then I had in, well I can't even remember when. My overall experience at Wendy's Casa Verde was excellent and I would recommend it to everyone!!!"

"My experience here was remarkable. I was very off and on about booking my stay, but Wendy was very accommodating and helped me book my stay last minute. Everything about this trip was wonderful. My room was comfy, clean, and had a gorgeous view. The raw food is beautiful, detoxing, and filling! Wendy uses mostly local ingredients and teaches you about the benefits of living more simply and having less of an impact on this planet. Her yard is in the valley of a cloud forest, therefore you wake up every morning to all sorts of beautiful wildlife: trees, flowers, waterfalls, etc. The raw food, along with the other benefits of staying in Mindo including drinking fresh spring water, breathing in clean air, and the perfect weather to hydrate your skin, added up to my total transformation. I learned to live a healthier and happier life and have continued these habits after leaving Wendy's place a week ago. I learned so much from wonderful documentaries that were eye opening but also from solely being there. Mindo, the nearest town, was a charming little town with super friendly people including many worldly travelers. "

"There is also many ways to keep entertained in the area including a butterfly exhibit, chocolate factory, tubing, hiking, and more! "

"Thank you so much Wendy for showing me this life style of simplicity but abundance. I need to bring my family back."

"It has been six months since my stay at Casa Verde and in that time I have lost 30 pounds. In all honesty, I was not able to stick to Wendy's program exactly after my five day stay; I still eat meat, I don't manage to do yoga regularly and I only consume a small portion of my food raw. That said, by cutting out dairy, alcohol, grains, and by doing intermittent fasting, I have increased my wellness considerably, from my skin to my stomach to my waistline. Since the first time since I was 15, I am at a normal bmi. I would recommend this experience as an investment in your future self. Wendy is very knowledgeable and skilled about showing you why it's important to feed your body properly; I still reflect on her teachings on a regular basis. She obviously had a big impact on me and if you open yourself to this experience, I believe that you will also benefit tremendously! Just do it!"

"I just returned from a week with Wendy at Casa Verde. It was truly an amazing experience. I was a little nervous as I was traveling internationally on my own for the first time, but the trip was really easy. I do recommend adding an extra couple of days in Quito for site seeing."

"The driver (Martine) picked me up from my hotel as scheduled for a beautiful scenic 2.5 hour drive to Wendy’s property in Mindo. The property is spacious and my room had a private full bath, perfect for a long hot bath after yoga. Wendy was very attentive and insured that I had everything I needed to be comfortable. "

"Wendy is a wealth of knowledge on yoga, raw food, and life in general. After year of doing yoga on and off and not really challenging myself too hard this was the push I needed to re-establish my practice. The food was amazing although I wasn’t really too concerned with eating raw vegan. It was fresh and very filling. The morning smoothies were the best! "

"This experience was far greater than I expected. If you are looking to reconnect with yourself and enjoy some much needed down time off the grid, I recommend Casa Verde."

"I came along on this journey with my wife, mostly because raw food and yoga is something I just haven’t experienced. I figured, I’ll kick back and relax, try something new, and hopefully won’t starve to death. To my disbelief, I actually had quite a hard time eating all the food. It was really tasty and I really liked how fresh everything was. I was amazed at the great recipes Wendy was whipping up. Personal favorites were the carrot soup, spaghetti, and of course the chocolate banana ice cream. Up to this point I had only dabbled with yoga, but after being submersed in it every day, I started to see some benefits. I found it helped me work through several old sports injuries, and my wife and I have continued the yoga practice that Wendy had taught us, ever since we got back to the States."

"I can't say enough good things about Wendy Green and Casa Verde. I decided to take a trip very last minute over the holiday season, and Wendy was extremely accommodating. And when I say last minute, I'm not kidding, I booked my trip about one week in advance of my actual arrival date. I was lucky Wendy had a spot available!"

"Case Verde, and Mindo, where Case Verde is located, are gorgeous. The yoga studio overlooks the cloud forest, so each morning you wake up and practice in the studio, you have a breathtaking view and the fresh air and sounds of the forest surround you. "

"Wendy is an excellent yoga instructor. In just a week with her help my practice really took off, and by the end of the week some of my postures had advanced to a place I never thought I'd be able to reach. And I lost about six pounds in the process!"

"The food was wonderful, colorful, fresh, and delicious. Who knew eating raw vegan could taste so good, and you really feel the difference too. I'm keeping up with the raw diet now and loving it!"

"The afternoons left us with so much to do: read, write, color (yup, she even has adult coloring books), hike in the trails around her house; and the evening documentary showings were so informative, Wendy was a great resource and best of all, I was actually able to relax, get off the internet and really rediscover my love of reading, hiking and a few other hobbies. "

"If you're considering a yoga retreat, I can't recommend Casa Verde enough. It was truly amazing!"

"I attended a beautiful Sunday yoga class with Wendy during my short stay in Mindo. Wendy was a fantastic instructor and her cues and hands-on assistance really helped me get the most out of the session, and gave me the confidence to try new and challenging poses. I would love to return for her week long retreat!"

"I arrived in June, wanting to re-balance myself physically, as my beautiful home town of London, where I have lived for the last twenty years, had begun to take its toll. My time with Wendy was not always easy, and at the start I was emotional, tired, and hungry. But as the days went by, I began to feel brighter and stronger. Spending the mornings on Wendy’s beautiful patio overlooking the river, forests, and mountains and learning yoga, in all its aspects, from a learned and patient teacher was worth the trip on its own."

"But the food, the beautiful, delicious, nourishing food, was a revelation! I quickly became adjusted to having specific meal times and quantities of food, that I would have previously thought unacceptable. My energy levels soared and within two weeks I had toned both my mind and my body to previously unknown levels."

"On returning home, I will admit that at first I went back to my previous bad habits and lifestyle. However, I have not forgotten any of the valuable lessons, taught in the wild rain-forests of the Pico Bonito. Slowly but surely, (must be the Kapha in me), I am incorporating the skills and knowledge so loving shown to me by Wendy, so that I may live a happier and healthier life."

"I salute you Wendy for having courage, conviction and an honesty seldom seen; and for guiding so many others towards a life of fulfillment and joy. With much peace and love,"

"My daughter, husband, and I had a wonderful time at Casa Verde. Not only did we improved our yoga skills leaded by Wendy, who is gentle and humble, but also nurtured our souls and body with a wonderful fruit smoothie and a vigorous up the mountain hike. I am definitely going back for a week long retreat. A true piece of paradise nested in the Andes!"

  • Review by Margot S. from Quito, Ecuador

"Although my first visit was short (due to my own time restrictions), I arrived to Casa Verde only looking to work on my yoga and be in nature, and emerged a vegetarian "with vegan inclinations". Not only was the nutrition education that I received transformational, but I returned home with a complete paradigm shift which changed how my whole family now eats. Additionally, I learned about Ashtanga yoga, experienced wonderful hikes in nature, and emerged feeling energized and lighter. "

"The experience at Casa Verde was so valuable for me that, at the next opportunity, I sent my 13 year old daughter to spend time with Wendy and Garth and she returned home happier, lighter, more centered, eager to return in the future, and having formed a special connection with Wendy. Once home, she educated me further on how to cook with a plant-based diet, and now has her own "cook book" of ideas to implement with our family. Additionally she loved spending extensive time drawing and being in nature. "

"Lastly, my once-a-day-lifelong-chicken-eating husband also become an instant vegetarian as a result of the education we received at Casa Verde, and I wouldn't be surprised if he embarked upon his own Casa Verde retreat in the future!"

"The week my daughter Amy and I spent with Wendy and Garth was transformational. We were treated to first class accommodation, right down to the organic bamboo sheets on our beds and the fresh eucalyptus in the shower. The raw food they introduced us to was delicious and simple enough that I can see it being sustainable now that I am home. Wendy's yoga instruction was valuable for me to further my practice. The cloud forest walks left me in awe. I have come home, healthier, thinner, stronger, and wiser!"

"The only thing I would change is adding a food preparation teaching component."

"From Garth meeting me at the gate with an umbrella and a friendly smile to Wendy's warm welcome hug at the door I knew instantly that I'd come to the right place."

"Nothing beats waking in the morning to the sound of the cloud forest and being able to watch humming birds as you lay in bed, oh wait maybe the hikes through the gorgeous cloud forest, or maybe the delicious food... Every night I decided on a new favorite meal."

"Wendy is an awesome yoga teacher, the little yoga I had improved greatly and I found myself in new poses or binds or reaching that little bit further every morning. I have enjoyed yoga in the past although my main motivation for doing it was because I knew it was good for me, but after practicing Ashtanga with Wendy something just clicked and I am now hooked!"

"I left Casa Verde Raw Food and Yoga retreat after ten days feeling brighter, lighter, re-inspired and full of intentions for my future. I hope my path brings me back to Mindo and the cloud forest again soon. Miss you guys!"

"I arrived to Mindo hoping to take a few yoga classes. My google search resulted in Wendy / Casa Verde. Luckily she doesn't only do retreats!! Class is at 8 a.m. at a tree house next to her house / retreat. Beautiful area with birds, butterflies, and lots of lush green. Unfortunately the mosquito's followed me there (wear long pants!)."

"Wendy gives lots of personal attention, is fun, and relaxed. Even took a few photo's with my camera, finally I have pictures of my moves."

"Getting there costs 5 USD taxi to Mindo Gardens (4 kilometers from town) and then a 500 meter walk (uphill). After class I walked back which takes about an hour. One time I jogged there from town and back, it was reason for a good breakfast afterwards!"

"People go on vacation for many different reasons. With my precious time off, when I go on vacation I want to be challenged, restored, and immersed in beauty. I also want to come back feeling better than when I left. Boy does Casa Verde deliver! I visited Wendy when she was in Honduras the her unique combination of raw food, yoga, and jungle immersion was an unparalleled experience, one that has continued to inspire me throughout the year since. I'm already planning my trip to visit Ecuador and can't wait to see Wendy's new place. I know her to be a beautiful designer and creative, with a gift for hospitality and healing. She is also vigilant about safety, helping with travel and making sure that guests arrive at her place smoothly. I can't wait to be back there in her capable hands. Two weeks with Wendy can strip away years of stress, poor eating, and exhaustion from our crazy modern lifestyle. I can't recommend it enough. I'm literally counting the days until I can return!"

"Ah, Casa Verde. The perfect retreat for those who want real healing work."

"This was my second trip to Wendy’s amazing property. Last year, I visited the Honduras location for my birthday and what I learned about raw food, yoga, and so much more resulted in lasting life changes that I still maintain. This year, was a whole new set of learning, relaxing, and going deeper. The food is beautiful and fresh - every meal made minutes before and so very alive."

"The location is a true escape; a home at the end of the last road before the cloud forest of Quito / Mindo, which is all that’s beyond it, for hundreds of miles."

"The yoga, which we practice every morning in a tree-house type studio with a view of the forest-top, ranges from simple peaceful to as challenging as you choose to accept. I’d consider myself an intermediate yogi - naturally flexible and very strong but without a regular practice - and I moved several inches or more into every pose after just a few days. The highlight was doing Dove on the first try, for the first time in my life. And, as Wendy says, it might actually be easier to balance at the equator."

"I’ve spoken so highly of my last trip to Honduras that friends and family are all interested in making the journey. This year, I brought one of my best friends along and the two of us enjoyed a private retreat with no other guests (only a few are hosted at a time anyway so it’s quite private regardless)."

"I didn’t both bringing books, knowing Wendy would have one on every subject and by the end of the week, I’d read into plant consciousness, Tantra, yoga, reflexology, and some light physics."

"While the first trip was very challenging - mostly the dietary changes and long hours between dinner and breakfast, I’d adapted my lifestyle to continue the routine and so found this year much less difficult. I’d also quit caffeine before the trip. (must, must must do, if you’re a coffee drinker). Sleeping and waking naturally with the sun and surrounded by the sounds of the forest was so wholesome that I didn’t even think about alcohol."

"Overall, obviously, I highly recommend Casa Verde. Wendy is such an expert and gentle but firm healer that no matter your reason for your visit (detox, weight loss, learning, relaxation, escape, adventure), you’ll depart changed."

"Don't expect frills - while it's beautiful, it's also simple. That being part of the experience, and challenge that many of us face in a world of constant stimulation. You get to learn to relax. I found myself fascinated with the forest and spent a surprising amount of time just looking and listening."

"Pack what she tells you to. And, take notes. You’ll want to keep the gifts of knowledge - or, at the very least, the recipes - for future reference."

"After a tough year that left me knocked out, feeling exhausted and overweight I decided to google "retreats" to escape from this "high speed" lifestyle. There I found Casa Verde which seemed a nice combination of body and soul healing in the midst of nature. I saw it, booked a 10 day stay and went. Thank god I did go. It saved me. I reconquered my health and joy. Wend taught me " the secret":"

"Raw diet - I never thought that eating a raw diet was even an existing option. Now I can't imagine going back to my old habits. I find great pleasure in eating like this. I love the taste, the combination of colors on the dish and it keeps me satisfied for a longer period of time. My cravings disappear."

"Yoga - I had never taken a yoga class before. In 10 days my body transformed from shapeless to defined. I discovered a way to do daily "meditation in movement"."

"Nature - beautiful amazing surroundings, an essential ingredient to feel "connected" plus great workout while hiking."

"Peaceful set-up - no interruptions or demands from the outside world."

"From day one I stopped smoking, eating animal products, dairy, wheat, coffee, sugar, and prozac! I feel younger and look younger. I am sharing "the secret" with my family and they are benefiting also. Thank you Wendy for your guidance, friendship, and knowledge. I am eternally grateful."

"I had a phenomenal stay with Wendy at her Casa Verde home in Mindo. I needed a week away from my busy city life, wanted to up my yoga practice and also experience some cleansing. I was able to do all of this here. It's a very intimate environment, staying in Wendy's home, very clean, and the weather is a nice balance between hot and cool with some rain. The meals were fantastic! I have had digestive issues for a while, and my tummy is finally happy after a week of a raw diet. Breathing in the cloud forest air, listening to the rain, Ashtanga every morning (and if you're a beginner, she caters to you!), afternoon hikes - I felt rejuvenated! She provides what you need in terms of educational, nutritional, and spiritual guidance as well. Would recommend to anyone in need of a spiritual, detox retreat, or if you just want to get away and relax! I would imagine compared to anything else in the area, this is remote, so you really can get the peace you need."

"Casa Verde, located near Mindo Ecuador, is a must visit retreat for anyone interested in yoga, raw food, and hiking / walking. The beautiful property, owned and operated by Wendy Green, is possibly one of the most beautiful settings for a relaxing, restoring, and cleansing break. Set in the cloud mountains you can switch off from the hectic world and take time to regain balance in your life - something we all need!"

"Studying in India herself, Wendy's knowledge of Ashtanga yoga is exceptional, and with only four guests staying at one time, she caters for beginners right through to the more seasoned yogi. And who doesn't love practicing on an open deck in the middle of a forest - soaking in nature with every breath...Daily assisted practice, along with walks, hikes, and relaxation time allowed for a very balanced break for me."

"Wendy's knowledge of Ayurveda, nutrition, and sustainability is also incredible and she is willing to share all of this information with you. I was lucky enough to have an extended stay with Wendy and the learnings, growth, and transformation I experienced were beyond my expectations."

"The raw food at Wendy's home is all locally sourced and delicious to say the least! Her home has a wonderful 'home away from home' feel, and Wendy and her dog Rio make you feel relaxed from the minute you arrive. "

"A wonderful place to get away and most certainly somewhere that I want to visit again with my husband or mother..."

After my week long stay I left feeling invigorated mentally and physically and inspired to make many positive changes in my life style."

"Casa Verde is the location of Wendy's Yoga, raw food, and hiking retreat, designed as a way for people to completely disconnect from the outside world, relax, and cleanse their bodies. Ashtanga yoga every morning was led by Wendy, who is a great instructor and provides hands-on adjustments to help push you further (the retreat is limited to about four people). It's amazing what a difference can be seen after yoga every day for a week! She prepared raw, plant-based meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, never failing to provide something delicious and nutritious - I loved it. The surrounding area is a jungle cloud forest - green, quiet, with a large variety of flowers, birds, and butterflies. It's really like paradise. The nearby town, Mindo, is about an hour walk from Casa Verde (15 minutes drive). The hiking has spectacular views and ranges from easy to hard in difficulty. The nearby river also offers many opportunities for water activities such as tubing. "

"All-in-all, this was a great way to cleanse and relax - my boyfriend and I both felt amazing at the end of our week here. My yoga improved, my body felt healthy, and my mind was free from clutter like emails, internet, and to-do's. Highly recommended."

"I stayed here for seven days this past February for a solo trip after a deployment. I was looking for something to decompress, get away from everything and clean up my mind and body. Wendy and Garth made me feel at home in their dream of a house and provided a wonderful experience and experience with raw food and Ashtanga yoga. I was at first a little nervous and had no idea what to expect when I arrived, but I kept an open mind and fully embraced the experience. The uneasiness of payment method and having to taxi three hours into the "jungle" faded away fast. From the moment Martin picked me up at my hotel and drove me through the Andes to Casa Verde, I knew I was in good hands. The hiking in the local area was beautiful, Wendy and Garth provided amazing meals, and I feel as though I could reach back to them for advice and recipes now and in the future. The yoga sessions each morning were amazing to experience outside on the wooden elevated deck overlooking the forest. We visited Los Bancos, the city in a cloud, Tulipe, a historic cobblestone ruins and the local Mariposario. I left with a clean body and mind and with a renewed energy for everything. My transition hotel La Casa Joaquin was also an amazing place to stay before and after my time with Wendy and Garth."

Wendy Green provided an amazing experience with wonderful homemade raw food crafted from fresh fruits and vegetables. Yoga sessions each morning were expertly guided with care to accommodate my level of experience. My room had large windows that looked onto a backdrop of a vibrant rain forest and just a few steps away from the house, there is a breathtaking waterfall. Everywhere you looked, there was wondrous flora and fauna. A visit to a local butterfly farm completed the experience. I cannot say enough about the attentive care from both Wendy and Garth that ensured that my stay was memorable."
