The beautiful rolling hills of Assisi were the perfect venue for a Mindfulness retreat. Every time I stepped outside at Casa Rosa, I was in awe of the surroundings, and as the Mindfulness Retreat progressed, my senses heightened and I appreciated more and more the trees, the sky, nature, the bird song. We had a wonderful group of 10 people and a very skilled teacher who guided us through the Mindfulness course. We shared a journey of personal growth and self discovery during the week. The accommodation was just beautiful and homely, and our hosts Ella and Allesandro made us feel very welcome and attended to our every need. The food deserves a special mention - delicious home cooked Italian lunches and dinners as well as a huge breakfast banquet every morning. I would highly recommend Casa Rosa Mindfulness Retreats to anyone who wants to escape the stresses of the city, to re-connect, recharge and rebalance.

We loved our time at Casa Rosa. We stayed in the smaller studio, which was cozy and perfectly set up for a comfortable stay in this truly inspiring location. It is a quick to Assisi, but worlds away from the touristy feel and hustle. Ella and her husband Alessandro were lovely hosts, very available and friendly. We also were pleasantly surrprised to have access to the washing machine and also Alessandro's delicious frozen meals that were ready to pop into our oven, these were some of the best meals we had in Italy! The studio was a joy to be in - great views, sunshine, it even smelled good! We hope to be back someday.

Casa Rosa is a special place. I can't help but echo the reviews of the other guests: it is peace personified but just a short drive from Assisi; it is a natural paradise but has everything you need to hand; it is a home from home in its hand-painted furnishings and decoration; and above all, it is run by the loveliest couple - Ella and Alessandro. From the cherries and jam we enjoyed courtesy of Ella, to the delicious meals prepared by Alessandro, we were just enamoured with their generosity and kindness. As for the surroundings, it is nothing short of breathtaking - and I've seen many a picturesque landscape! The house was so welcoming, replete with touches like wild flowers. To wake each morning to sunshine over the mountains, and end each evening watching fireflies dance in the dark, was really quite spectacular. The sound of birdsong and bats, or the breeze playing in the trees, is the extent of the noise pollution from the balcony! And the days spent by the pool, walking to the 'Secret Place' (I won't spoil the surprise!), or simply the smell of lavender washing over you: there really aren't words. As for Assisi, it's an incredible town - and there's so much more to experience in Umbria generally. For some true R&R, I am truly convinced there is nowhere better.

Such a relaxing and peaceful environment. Early morning swims and evenings watching the fireflies and starry skies. Very therapeutic! Accommodation is excellent. Ella and Alessandro are great hosts and add to the serenity of the place. The area around Casa Rosa and Assisi is lovely with many beautiful hill towns, not to mention the amazing frescoes in the little churches.

We stayed at the Casa Rosa villa for a week and it was absolute paradise: a peaceful setting, stunning views of the amazing countryside and a hill-top pool to lounge away the days. The hosts were so friendly and helpful; from giving advice on where to go for the day, to providing freshly picked fruit (I recommend the cherries!) nothing was too much trouble and you get the sense that they care about making your holiday special. Located amongst the hills of Assis, Casa Rosa is remote enough for you to just relax with a bottle of wine and watch the wildlife (including the nightly firefly light display), but still just ten minutes away from the bars, restaurants and beautiful architecture of the town of Assisi. I'll certainly go here again, and would recommend it to anyone thinking of going to Italy.

We stayed at the Casa Rosa villa with another couple for ten days. It was spacious and we spend a lot of time on the patio enjoying the view of the hills and vineyard. After being in Florence for six days the country offered quiet relaxing days. The owner was helpful in directions and ideas for things to see, even gave bottles of wine and olive oil. The owner and his family are very friendly and want to share the history of their villa and town. Someday we hope to return and enjoy more of their hospitality.

We stayed at Casa Rosa for a week and loved every minute. Hidden amongst the hills of Assisi, this place is the perfect setting to relax and recharge. Although self catering, the service provided by Ella and Alessandro is like a 5-star hotel, from fresh strawberries picked for breakfast to amazing homemade pastas when your too relaxed to go out for food. Our apartment overlooked a central courtyard and valley, great to watch the birds and butterflies during the day and fireflies at night. We would highly recommend Casa Rosa to anyone travelling to Italy.

If you work too hard and are driven and exhausted, enjoy good food and wine and love being in the middle of the countryside, this is the place for you. I returned from a wonderful week today; don't be put off by self catering. The owner's husband is a chef, there is a freezer full of delicious ready meals cooked by Alessandro, and he will also cook for you. We had a three course restaurant standard meal cooked and served by him on our own terrace. We sat with our glasses of wine watching the fireflies dancing through the lavender bushes. Although the properties were fully booked, we didn't really notice anyone else being there, good design, Alessandro's brother in law is an architect, this is a family business. We picked cherries from the laden trees, enjoyed visits to nearby Assissi, went over the mountain to Spello where we saw the best wild flowers I have ever seen as well as buzzards, kestrels and a hoopoe. The cuckoo made its presence felt, the bantams were divine.Need a half year pick me up? Go. Ella and Alessandro will warmly welcome you and look after you.

We spent 2 weeks at the beautiful Casa Rosa and loved every minute of it. The villa is a heavenly spot: utterly quiet, surrounded by green fields, olive groves and hills. The apartments are simple and rustic, but comfortable. We spent a lot of time chilling out at base, making simple meals, sitting out on the balcony quaffing local wine and watching the world go by; having a dip in the pool. The owner, Jennifer Worth and her lovely family are charming, gentle and caring hosts. Jennifer is a fine artist and we very much enjoyed meeting her, though she was in the final stages of cancer and, very sadly, has since died.Casa Rosa makes a great base from which to explore Assisi and the surrounding district. Assisi, though not a large town, has a huge amount to explore, and the surrounding Umbrian countryside is very beautiful. In August, it was hot, but Casa Rosa provides some relief from the heat, being up in the hills and catching what breeze there is.It was perhaps our most relaxing holiday ever, partly because we stayed 2 weeks at the one location, which made it feel very spacious, but also because of the quiet beauty of the place itself.

I would highly recommend Casa Rosa to anyone looking for a base from which to explore Assisi and Umbria in general. It is sublime! The setting is so beautiful and peaceful it is almost other-worldly. We quickly settled into a wonderful routine of having our breakfast on our private patio overlooking the valley (we stayed in the old stables which is now a delightful cottage) then we'd set out for the day. Assisi is just 15 minutes away and many wonderful Umbrian towns were an easy day-trip from there. Alessandro was a wonderful and attentive host who even came to fetch us the first night since it is a bit difficult to find the first time.We hope to go back again sometime. It is such a special place!

I arrived late in the evening, so it wasn't until morning when I walked outside of my apartment (1 of only a few units) and was overwhelmed by a profound sense of peace. I've had many wilderness adventures in my life, but they all required driving at least several hours from civilization. The Casa Rosa farm is just 15 minutes from Assisi, but driving the circuitous road up the nearby mountain achieves a similar sense of remoteness. There are no other signs of civilization in sight and the only sounds are birds singing, or perhaps the grunting of a wild boar foraging in a nearby meadow at night. Being enveloped in such a serene environment makes it impossible to carry anxiety or tension. There are many walking trails in the area to explore, and the swimming pool offers spectacular views of the valley while cooling off. I highly recommend Casa Rosa even if you only have a few days.

We came here together with three other couples from the four corners of the world for a vacation / reunion, one of whom knows Gay, the owner, from way back. We could not have found a better place to spend a week together. The beautiful views, the quiet, the gardens, the location, the pool and the comfortable apartments ensured a visit we'll always remember. Gay always made us feel like family, and made sure to help with anything we needed. She is an amazing artist and a great person. We took day trips all around Umbria, and coming home in the evening for a quiet dinner together always made for a great end to a great day. We hope to come back again soon, and recommend the Casa Rosa to anyone who wants a vacation to remember in the heart of Umbria.
