"Casa Del Sol is a super chilled, friendly hostel, located 30 seconds walk to the beautiful beach in Montanita. "

"The staff are very welcoming, friendly and the hostel operates with a level of efficiency, yet with a a great attitude that nothing is a problem. "

"There is always someone at the reception/bar ready for a chat and should you wish to continue the party, it is a short walk further down the beach to the lively streets of Montanita town. "

"There are private rooms and dorms which are cleaned daily, surf board rentals, Spanish lessons upon request, fresh breakfast inclusive and a meal served each evening for a small fee. "

"What attracted me to book with Casa Del Sol was the surf & yoga combo, but the true value of this place are the people and the location. The staff could not have been more welcoming, friendly and fun. Especially Jackson, who has a heart of gold and made me laugh more than anyone. The yoga was great as well. I went to Tamara's classes. She not only leads a good yoga practice but also owns the hotel. The rooms are spacious, quiet and always clean. The breakfast was different each day but always good. Lastly, the location was perfect for me. Near the point and away from the crazy party central of Montañita. If you need to go into town, it's just a 15 minute walk down the beach. I would def stay here again and recommend it to anyone. Gracias por todo Casa del Sol!"

"This place is really chill. Its just far enough out of town so you can get some sleep at night and close enough to walk back and forth into town. The point break is right across the street and you can walk on the beach into town which only takes about 10 min more or less. There is a restaurant which has good beer and sushi 1 block over.... perfect for catching the sunset and also you can rent a board if needed right next door at Balsa Surfcamp. They dont have much of a selection but you can go into town and find a descent short board if needed. I stayed in the dorm. The dorm is pretty basic but there is air conditioning which is nice and the shower is cold water but not a big deal since your constantly sweating from the heat and humidity. Overall this place is Nice and the location is Perfect. The staff are friendly and the breakfast is different everyday and really good!"

"Casa del sol is incredible. Amazing people, great staff, lovely rooms, delicious food, perfect location, and all that with options for yoga, spanish and surf classes. It's close enough to the town to get in and enjoy a party night, but then far enough away that you can sleep in a tranquil environment. It's so close to the beach, and has the best laid-back, chill and fun vibe. I stayed way longer than I planned and only left because I had previous plans to meet up with someone somewhere else. I'm hoping to go back one day soon!"

"The bathrooms are really clean, the room was comfortable and cozy. Breakfast was delicious and the people is really friendly and nice. It is located nearly 10 minutes away from town so you're away from all the noise, which doesn't mean it's boring, they actually put on some music some nights."

"Great breakfasts. Very close to the beach front, yet fair enough away from the noisy downtown area. Rooms are a bit outdated, but not badly. I loved the yoga studio and its proximity (note that you have to pay, $35 for 5 classes is the best deal). Wifi worked quite well. Lovely staff; really tried to make sure you had a great time. Loved it!"

"Tamara has this place dialed in nicely. The rooms are decent, the breakfast is delicious, the beer is cold, and the vibe is right. This is a place you may come for a few days, and stay a few months. 7-8 minute walk on the beach, into town, which is perfect if you value your sleep. If you saddle up at the hostel bar (and why wouldn't you?) Jackson & Mike will be serving up some great stories and laughs as well as your beverages."

"Had a wonderful time here for a few days in December. What stands out most about this hostel is the vibe. Every I met, staff and guests included, were inspiring and interesting. Jackson, Mike and Casey are genuinely friendly and helpful. Tamara, as some other reviewers have identified, is the savvy matriarch who makes sure all guests are comfortable. The bar area is a great social scene where you'll quickly feel right at home. I was also pleasantly surprised by the yoga classes which were some of the best I've had. The essential oil shoulder rub during class was definitely appreciated. Breakfast is a yummy and the location (seconds away from the beach) can't be beat. Even though I was only here for a few days, it felt like I was away for months because of the magic of Casa Del Sol! I hope to be back soon!"

"An initial three night stay turned into an amazing two weeks at Casa! All the staff are really friendly and make you feel at home straight away, the rooms are cleaned daily and the facilities great. Breakfast is really good and something different every day. A 5-10 minute walk down the beach takes you into the centre of town with all the bars etc.. but when you want to leave the party you can completely chill out at Casa! Big thanks to Tamara, Juanito, Ty, Jordi, Michelle for making it a great stay - see you again soon!!"

"What was intended to be a 7-day stay at Casa Del Sol learning Spanish at Casas own Spanish School (Marazul), quickly turned into a unforgettable 3 week adventure. Reluctantly my boyfriend and I had to leave to continue our voyage further south so dragged ourselves onto to an early bus to Peru . Two weeks have since passed and we are now on our way BACK to Montanita and BACK to Casa Del Sol - our home away from home.Features unique to Casa that have promoted our return include but are not limited to: amazingly friendly and hospitable staff who dont just serve you drinks at the in-house bar but party with your after hours and wake you up in the morning for a sin absolving surf; optimum location on the la punta in Montanita la punta is close enough to dip in and out of the action in town as often as you like yet secluded enough to escape the rif raf and endless fiesta; spacious rooms (cleaned daily) enclosed within an internal fern garden and courtyard replete with comfy hammocks for relaxing; delicious and diverse breakfasts, a different delight for each day of the week; and fun, informative Spanish classes taken by patient, experienced teachers in an informal setting. And if thats not enough the surf at the point is world class on its day. Just try and leave."

"Traveling solo, booked 4 nights here. They only had a single room for 3 of the 4 nights and were gonna put me in a dorm but when I arrived the owner told me she had done some juggling so I got the 4th night in a private:) Rooms cleaned and towels changed daily. Delicious different breakfasts every morning were included. Good water pressure in shower, awesome and friendly staff. Perhaps the best thing about this place is the location. 30 seconds to the beach and a 10 minute walk down the beach and you're in the village. This place is the perfect oasis, it's in a peaceful and quiet area yet close enough to the party scene if you want to go out. Prices very reasonable for what you get. Highly recommended!!!"

"I spent a month researching beach towns in Ecuador and the hostels in them. My boyfriend and I were looking for a place where we could relax, meet great people, eat good food and try new things. When I stumbled upon casa del sol I knew I had found what I was looking for. Eat, sleep, yoga, surf! What I wasn't expecting were the amazing people at casa del sol. I don't know how Tamara did it but she has created the most welcoming and friendly hostel I have ever been to.All of the staff at casa del sol invite you into their home and their world. So much so that the guests themselves begin to pass the good vibes forward. Its no wonder that her guests return year after year. Book in advance, and become part of the family!!!"
