La Rosa dei 4 Venti is a 14 acre property located between the Adriatic and Ionic Sea and is surrounded by the splendid nature of Valle d’Itria. It is a charming, family-run yoga venue. La Rosa situated on a small hillock in the heart of the Itria Valley in the heel of Italy’s boot. The main building is a 16th century masseria (farmhouse) that has been elegantly restored in typical, old apulian style with many of the authentic features still in place. All rooms are en suite with shower, toilet and basin. Each room is a different shape and unique is its own way as many of the rooms are traditional trullos, each unique and gorgeously decorated. The grounds contain lovely gardens, a swimming pool, a wild forest and fields, and a tiny church. There is plenty of space to walk and be free.

You will explore a 4-step process to uncover the layers of being as a means to merge deeper within.

The first step is to “Connect into the Body & Breath.” It helps people be in their bodies, to really be in their bodies. This includes focused work on breathing and being breathed. You find love and respect of the physical form through an appreciation of alignment and the power of the breath.

The second step is to “Release the Issues in the Tissues.” In this practices you broaden your awareness around movement of emotions through the body. You open areas that store blocked emotions and release related mental limitations leading to the issues in the tissues.

The third step is to “Recognize the Power of the Mind.” Working with your mind can be one of the greatest challenges on this journey. The thinking mind can hinder ever step while the intuitive mind can set you free. Students will be help use their power to banish perceived smallness. You will be challenged to recognize growth in moments of uncertainty and discomfort. Together everybody will ‘Think less and listen more’.

Finally, the last step is to “Live a Sensual and Awakened Life.”

We all yearn to blossom into our truest self. As we cultivate the practices, we become more familiar with what it feels like to liberate and embrace Shakti, our divine indwelling power. A life of freedom awaits!

By working with this model, I can help you to begin to feel more, which will begin with just truly inhabiting the body and listening. I provide a safe environment to dive deeper into your experiences. And I speak from a place of relating to your journey since I have been there myself.

The program will include a variety of practices and modalities including:

  • Yoga
  • Meditation
  • Breath of BlissTM
  • Tao Tantric Feminine Arts
  • Sacred Feminine Rituals

This program includes a full day excursion to villages on the Adriatic Coast.

Carla Wainwright

Carla is Founding owner of Chinook Yoga in Prince George, British Columbia, Director within the Primary Faculty of the SOYA Yoga Teacher Training Program, E-RYT500 Teacher with over 17 years of yoga teaching experience in a wide range of styles – from Yin Yoga to Pre-Natal, including multiple annual teacher trainings and international yoga retreats since 2008. She has studied with: Mugs McConnell, Shirley Daventry French, Erich Schiffmann, Shiva Rea, Rod Stryker, Dana Flynn, Minke de Vos and Geeta Iyengar. Carla is also a Doctor of Medical Heilkunst and Homeopathy (M.Sc, DMH) from the Hahnemann College of Heilkunst and Homeopathy in July 2009 with a College Diploma in Health Sciences. A former wildlife biologist, she also holds a Bachelors Degree in Applied Zoology and a Masters Degree in Conservation Biology.

Carla started practicing yoga in 1996, the original motivation was to touch her toes! She had no idea the journey she was beginning to undertake would be so profound and transformational. Seventeen years later, she can touch her toes, and along the way she discovered that her talent and her passion has become helping others nourish their unique journey toward self discovery.

While most of her retreats and offerings are open to all, she is particularly passionate about helping women explore the divine feminine and embrace their indwelling power, the Shakti nature within. This work entails going deep, uncovering blocks, becoming embodied, balanced and strong on all levels, ultimately, becoming comfortable with feminine creativity, sexuality and personal power. As she continues the personal practice of embracing Shakti, she experiences her evolution forward into herself. An increasingly empowering and liberating experience, she can’t help but feel compelled to help others (primarily women) experience

this for themselves.

She loves flow practices for the movement and freedom, hatha classes for the precision and experience of deepening and yin for the stillness and expansion. Her love of music, movement, dance, breath, food, culture and holistic lifestyle influence and are expressed through her offerings.

Her work explores opening and connecting to the mayakoshas (sheaths) or layers of being as a means to merge with the essential self. Each sheath is an integral part of who we are: the physical, energetic/emotional, mental, intuitive and bliss body. As we search for equilibrium both within and in between these layers, we begin to truly understand ourselves and the outside world around us.

This retreat will take place in Puglia, located between the Adriatic and Ionic Sea and surrounded by the splendid nature of Valle d’Itria. The perfect location for a week of yoga, sun, natural beauty and relaxation. The landscape is rural and dotted with beautiful olive trees and vineyards, divided by pretty dry-stone walls.

The luminous Puglian-born cook Ilaria, believes that food cooked in a bad temper and without love will make people sick. Your food will be lovingly prepared, strictly organic, vegetarian and wheat-free. And there will even be wine with supper. The diet for the community of people of La Rosa dei 4 Venti is extremely important, as much as the yoga practice. Their cuisine follows the ph alkaline diet philosophy whose goal is to bring back to balance your organism through a healthy vegetarian diet mainly raw, organic, with low gluten, no dairies and wheat free. They serve fresh, organic and seasonal products from their garden; they produce their own goat cheese and milk and they make their bread, pastries and pastas with spelt flour or no gluten flour like buckwheat. The dishes are from the italian tradition but revisited by them following this diet by introducing some raw dishes at lunch and superfoods in the recipes. You won’t miss the Italian cuisine, simply you will taste it in a healthier way.

"I had never attended a yoga retreat before and had no idea what to expect (gong bath?? really, what was I getting myself into??). The week in Sayulita with Carla and the rest of the group turned out to be a great balance of yoga practice and fun in the sun. Lots of laughs! I am so glad I took a leap of faith and attended this retreat. It was exactly what my body and soul needed."

"I think yoga is the ultimate answer to everything. You are cultivating that in the world. It is not just a yoga teacher that you are, it is way more than that. The workshops, the retreats, the studio, the teachers you have created, the pay it forward affect. It is all you Carla, you are putting huge tools of self-awareness and self-care into the world. Thanks again Carla, you are a gem in this life, a true light guiding us all to our best version of ourselves and for that I am very very grateful!"

  • Review by Susan from Europe

"This experience was my first yoga retreat and I was worried that I would possibly get bored of the yoga, or worse, not be able to keep up. Both of these worries were completely unfounded and I thoroughly enjoyed myself! The yoga was really wonderful, and the off time was a lot of fun as well. I would absolutely do another yoga retreat with Carla - all the details were taken care of, it was easy to relax and just enjoy."
