During this retreat, you will stay in one of the 13 private bungalows at the Samaná Ocean View Resort. Each bungalow is equipped with a queen-sized bed, bed linen and towels, a night table, a reading lamp, a table with chairs, a safe, a ceiling fan, and a closet. They also have a bathroom with shower, a sink, and a toilet. Six of the bungalows accommodate a cozy balcony and the other seven have a wonderful panoramic window facing the ocean.
The main building includes a large open living space and seating area, a bar, a barbecue grill, a sound system, free Wi-Fi, and a fully equipped kitchen. The swimming pool measures more than 1200 square feet and can be used 24 hours a day as it has attractively illumination at night. At its longest point, the pool measures 45 feet and is between four and five feet deep.
During this retreat, you will live an experience to harmonize your body and soul. You will totally unwind, letting your mind go and spirit relax while your body be immersed in the perfect combination of rest and motion free from external influences. The expression “retreat” comes means "withdraw from the usual environment”. This retreat offers daily yoga practices, communication with the yoga instructor, and like-minded fellow travelers.
Yoga is practiced independently from any religion, however it is more than the execution of physical exercises that serves to train the body and mind. Yoga is rather a way of life, which is about compassion, mindfulness, and truthfulness. The atmosphere at this retreat is quiet, and except for the daily yoga hours, your time is your own to read, swim, sleep and enjoy this special getaway. Much emphasis is placed on healthy, diverse, and fresh food to accompany the experience.
The yoga classes will be suitable for beginners and advanced learners alike. You will be supported to perform the exercises accurately, receiving the full attention of the yoga instructor, which is why classes are limited. Advanced learners will be encouraged and corrected while holding longer poses (asanas) and beginners will receive a gentle introduction.
On arrival day, you will be welcomed by the yoga instructor and will be provided with information on the bungalow complex accompanied by a Caribbean beverage. The rest of the day will be yours to relax and explore the place. Each day will start with meditation and pranayama (breathing exercise) as well as a delicious, freshly squeezed fruit juice.
The rustling palm trees and twittering birds will accompany you as you start your day. Rested and fresh, you will start the morning with a 90-minute yoga class, which cleans, stretches, and strengthens your body. Afterwards, a healthy and plentiful breakfast-buffet will be waiting for you. Then, you will have some free time to enjoy the tranquility at the resort, relax by the pool or in your bungalow overlooking the sea, or go to one of the many nearby beaches.
The second 90-minute yoga class will take place in the afternoon, this time in a more relaxed and meditative way. In the evening, a healthy and delicious dinner will be served.
On Saturday, you will enjoy a special workshop lasting several hours and the practice of yoga will be intensified and amplified, broadening your knowledge of yoga and its many benefits, integrating mind, body, and spirit. On departure day, you will enjoy one last early morning yoga session and a mutual farewell breakfast followed by departure.
One full-day hike through the gentle hills of Samaná and an amazing whale-watching experience are included in this retreat.
Coco is a California native from Los Angeles, who currently lives in Cologne, Germany. She obtained her 200-hour yoga teacher training certification in Ashtanga from Sampoorna Yoga in Goa, India, and teaches a mixture between Power Vinyasa and a Hatha type flow. Along with teaching yoga, she is also a professional roller skater, which encourages her to bring in eclectic and artistic elements to her teaching style, including handstands and funky arm balances.
This retreat will beheld at Samaná Ocean View Eco-Lodge in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The lodge is located on top of a hill near the village of La Guázama and the idyllic fishing town Las Galeras on the Samaná peninsula. This spot is widely recognized as the most beautiful region of the Dominican Republic primarily due to the thousands of coconut trees and the many pristine beaches.
The tropical vegetation in and around the area, the tranquility of the site, and the stunning views make you feel as if you are visiting paradise. This area is one of the most beautiful and originally native places that the Dominican Republic has to offer.

During this retreat you will be served six delicious breakfasts and 6 dinners along with tea and water throughout the duration of your stay. The breakfast will be a hearty buffet and the dinner delicious and sumptuous. The meals are a combination of Caribbean and international cuisine and if preferred, vegetarian or vegan.
Please inform Caribe Yoga of any food allergies or special needs prior to arrival. A large communal kitchen is available to use throughout the day where you can prepare your lunch or snacks as you please and enjoy the company of other guests. Groceries can be also obtained from small convenience stores in the area or from the caretaker who goes shopping nearly every day.
During your free time, you may enjoy activities like a trip to the Salto El Limon waterfall, zip lining at Playa El Valle, visit the Los Haitises National Park, horse riding, quad-excursions, scuba diving, or dancing lessons.
The closest beaches are Playa Grande (the main beach in Las Galeras) and the especially beautiful beach, Playita. They can be reached within 15 minutes by car or motorbike. Also close by, is the beach Playa Rincon, a three-mile long, white sandy beach and one of the most beautiful beaches in the Dominican Republic.
From Las Galeras you can reach it within 25 minutes by car or within 15 minutes by boat. There is also Playa Fronton, a perfect snorkeling spot with its impressive panorama and can be reached with a 30 minute hike, or by boat, or horse.
The small romantic bay with its natural beach Playa Madame, is also within reach either by boat or by horse. Las Galeras, with its small supermarkets, restaurants, and beach huts can be reached within 15 minutes by car. There, you can drink Dominican rum together with the locals or book a boat trip with the local fishermen.

CaribeYoga will pick you up from Las Américas International Airport (SDQ) at 3:00 pm on arrival day and will take you to the same airport at 1:30 pm on departure day. Other options are to book your flight to arrive at Samaná El Catey International Airport (AZS) or Gregorio Luperón International Airport (POP).
