Awareness and life is the motto of this retreat, where you will develop an awareness and mindfulness of body, mind, and soul, leading you to a completely new body feeling. You will practice exercises to strengthen your back and relax, as well as make feel the power in your belly and address the area of the neck and shoulders. You will also learn to consciously perceive your breath and adapt your movement to it. Join this retreat to achieve a higher connection to yourself!

Samaná Ocean View Resort has 14 private bungalows. Each one is equipped with a queen-size bed, linen, towels, night table, reading lamp, table, chairs, safe, ceiling fan, and closet. The bungalows also have a bathroom with shower, sink, and toilet.
Six of the bungalows have a cozy balcony, while the rest have a fully openable picture window facing the ocean and with breathtaking views of the Samaná Peninsula. All rooms are cleaned daily. The main building includes a terrace, a sun deck with an outdoor shower, a bar, a barbecue grill, a sound system, free Wi-Fi, and a fully equipped kitchen.
The swimming pool measures more than 1200 square feet. It can be used 24 hours a day and is attractively illuminated at night. At its longest point, the pool measures 45 feet and is between 4.6 and 5.3 feet deep. There is no lifeguard on duty or any special safety devices for children, so it is recommended that only adults and children who know how to swim make use of the pool at their own risk.
The private estate, which covers more than 18000 square feet, is surrounded by tropical vegetation with plenty of space to relax. Stunning ocean views can be seen from anywhere at the eco-lodge. The resort also offers irons in the main building and the use of washing machine and dryer at an additional cost.

The Samaná Ocean View Eco-Lodge is located on top of a hill near the village of La Guázama and the idyllic fishing town Las Galeras on the Samaná Peninsula. This spot is widely recognized as the most beautiful region of the Dominican Republic, primarily due to the thousands of coconut trees and the many pristine beaches.
The closest beaches include Playa Grande, Playita, and Playa Rincón, a three-mile long, white sandy beach and one of the most beautiful beaches in the Dominican Republic. From Las Galeras you can reach it within 25 minutes by car or within 15 minutes by boat.
There is also Playa Frontón, a perfect snorkeling spot. This Robinson Crusoe beach with its impressive panorama can be reached with a 30-minute hike, or by boat, or horse. It is not accessible by car. The small romantic bay with its natural beach Playa Madame is also within reach either by boat or by horse.
Las Galeras, with its small supermarkets, restaurants, and beach huts can be reached within 15 minutes by car. Here, you can drink Dominican rum together with the locals or book a boat trip with the fishermen.
The comfortable bungalow complex offers an unforgettable and relaxing stay. The tropical vegetation in and around the area, the tranquility of the site, and the stunning views will make you feel as if you were visiting paradise. This area is one of the most beautiful and originally native places that the Dominican Republic has to offer. Here, you will experience the genuine Caribbean and pure relaxation.
During this retreat, you will experience and learn the basics of Hatha yoga, which emphasis is on gentle movements, lightweight body, and breathing exercises that train the self-perception, practicing mindfulness and making you more present in the current moment.

Your yoga practice will happen where others only dream of: right on the beach, where you can enjoy the sound of the sea and feel a heavenly calm in your body. This yoga retreat is suitable for both beginners and those with some experience.
The five elements of nutrition of traditional Chinese medicine, unimpressed and unaffected by the temporal fads, hold a key for you with which you will gradually open the door to a deeper understanding. Jana will introduce them into a contemporary, holistic nutrition based on classical health and nutrition principles and those associated with meaningful modern knowledge.
Although their origins are in China, this is not about using exotic foods or strange ingredients. Rather, Jana will show you how concepts and ways of thinking of Chinese medicine can be used in local foods and products. Accordingly, all foods contain the five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water; the five tastes: sour, bitter, sweet, spicy, and salty; and the temperature behavior: hot, warm, neutral, refreshing, and associated with cooling.

There is a 24-hour electricity because the company of Las Galeras is a private electricity company. So you will have no problems with electricity like in other parts of the Dominican Republic.
Make sure you bring a flashlight, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, a camera, toiletries, yoga attire, swimwear, shorts, short-sleeve shirts, tank tops, sandals, and any required medications. Feel free to also bring your own yoga mat if you prefer.
You will need a passport that is valid for at least six after your arrival date.

Explore the undiscovered treasures of the Samaná Peninsula. The plan is to go on a full-day hike, visiting Boca del Diablo, Playa Frontón, and the rural area around Las Galeras. Walk along the unspoiled coastline, discover different fruits and vegetables while hiking along the cultivable land, and get to know the village life in La Guázuma. It is a strenuous 18-kilometer hike, but experiencing the natural way of the Dominican Republic is worth all the efforts.
Jana is a certified yoga teacher in Hatha, Yin, and Kundalini yoga, with national and international teacher training. She studied Kundalini yoga in the 3HO Foundation, with Yogi Bhajan.
The meals during this retreat consist of a hearty breakfast buffet and a sumptuous dinner. They will be a combination of Caribbean and international cuisine and, if preferred, vegetarian or vegan. Please inform CaribeYoga of any food allergies or special needs prior to your arrival. Tea and water are also available free of charge throughout the duration of your stay.
The National Park Los Haitises can only be reached from the ocean and is considered one of the must-see attractions in the Dominican Republic. It has a surface of 826 square kilometers and offers an unbelievable number of protected animals and plants. The park features the large Bahía San Lorenzo lagoon, rivers, mangroves, jungle, and mystical stalactite caverns.
This region was already settled or often visited by early Indians called Tainos, long before the arrival of Christopher Columbus. Rock carvings, petroglyphs, on the walls of many caves in this area are proof of their existence.
You might catch sight of approximately 120 different bird types, including the palm chat or cigua palmera, the national bird of the Dominican Republic. With some luck, you might also see the very rare Caribbean manatees, from the family of round-tailed sea cows, in the waters or in the surrounding mangroves.
For those who want to discover the beauty of the Samaná Peninsula independently, a rental car would be most suitable. But those who prefer to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere at the Samaná Ocean View Eco-Lodge can easily get around with taxis and so-called motoconchos, motorbike taxis, procured for you by the property manager.
Playa Frontón and Playa Rincón are often named as two of the most beautiful beaches in the country. By boat, you can explore both of them in one day. In the morning go to Playa Frontón, a secluded, palm-lined, and remote beach, where every dream of a paradise comes true. Snorkel in the shallow water and explore the adjoining coral reef.
Later on, head to Playa Rincón for even more quality beach time. You can expect miles of white sand, as well as little shacks selling fresh coconuts and cooled cocktail. You will surely enjoy swimming in the turquoise water and the stunning scenery.
Take your car or request a transfer to head to El Valle, where you can go on one of the most spectacular zip lines in the country. Enjoy the scenery, have a blast, and get your adrenalin ready. The longest zip line at El Valle is more than 1200 feet long and over 450 feet high. After this, you can enjoy the beautiful surrounding.
The waterfall Salto El Limón is located amidst a lush tropical landscape on the peninsula of Samaná, approximately an hour away from Las Galeras. This spectacular waterfall drops 150 feet into a natural, beautiful pool filled with fresh, crystal clear water.
You can reach the top of the waterfall on horseback, then hike downwards through tropical jungle until you reach the bottom of this roaring cascade, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the big natural pool.
Every year, more than 1000 humpback whales migrate from the polar regions to Samaná Bay for mating season. From mid-December to the end of March, you can observe this great spectacle directly from the Samaná Ocean View Eco-Lodge. There are also regular boat excursions from Las Galeras if you prefer a closer look.
