Students of the Caribe Yoga Academy will be housed at Cashew Hill, which welcomes families, couples, singles, and people of all ages. Enjoy remarkable mornings and relaxing evenings in the elegant and open jungle cottages. There are many options for nearby activities and entertainment. Cashew Hill is hidden away as a jungle gem, but just a quick walk from Puerto Viejo center.
This is a two-storey, one-bedroom, and one-bathroom cottage where you will likely see sloths climbing in the nearby trees. It sleeps one to three persons. The cottage contains a full size bed and an individual bed. The bedroom is located on the main level.
The amenities of the cottage are high speed two megabyte per second Wi-Fi, laundry service, lending library and book swap, and maid service.
To complete the Yoga Alliance 300 hour certificate, students must complete three of the 100-hour modules. You have five years to complete the program. Below you can check the currently available 100-hour module options:
This training is one module of the advanced level certification through the Caribe Yoga Academy. The student must complete three modules to finish their advanced level training. Join us in the gorgeous South Caribbean for a journey inward to yoga’s quiet practices. There will be adequate time for practice, observation, theory and analysis of Yin and Restorative shapes.
In addition, explore important variations in physical anatomy and work with sequencing for quiet styles of asana. You will also dive into the study of subtle aspects of anatomy and the soft art of assisting your students in stillness. Surrender, stretch, open, and turn inward with us in a luscious tropical setting.

Avani started exploring yoga as a teenager to counter participation in high school competitive sports. From there, she began a lifelong love, journey, and endless study along the yogic path. She has participated in yoga teacher trainings throughout the United States and Costa Rica while accumulating over 2000 hours of teaching experience at her yoga studio in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica.
Adriana’s passion for spirituality and body movement started at a young age. At the age of 18 she received her first certification for yoga and massage. The process has not slowed down or stopped since. Adriana is now a 500-hours certified yoga teacher, Yogakids facilitator, and co-founder of the ASOyoga (Costa Rican Yoga Association). She has studied a variety of yogic styles as well as philosophy and Bhakti under Dr. Mark Dycscowksi in India and earned her degree in Physiotherapy.
Flora is a yoga teacher and Ayurvedic therapist, specialized in lifestyle and nutrition. From Geneva to Kerala through Amsterdam, Italy, France, the U.K., and West Africa, fluent in 5 languages, Flora is a true world citizen! Since the age of 12 she has been blessed with growing up in a yoga conscious environment. Likewise, has her education in Ayurveda been blessed with an array of internationally known teachers such as Dr. Vasant Lad, Dr. Frawley, Vaidya Robert Svoboda, Dr. Claudia Welch, Vaidya Atreya Smith, Donald Vanhowten, and other renowned doctors from India.
There is no place in the world more flavorful than the southern Caribbean area of Costa Rica. Puerto Viejo is a laid back village that moves to a reggae beat. Shirts and shoes are optional at many restaurants. The beaches are never crowded and offer lots of activities including surfing, snorkeling, biking, hiking, gourmet restaurants, wildlife, and friendly people, all of which will make this your favorite vacation spot (people often return once they have visited Puerto Viejo).
Cashew Hill Jungle Lodge is located in Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Costa Rica. It is an extraordinary sanctuary with glorious tropical gardens full of beautiful plants and tremendous exotic wildlife found nowhere else, and surreal ocean views and breezes.
Costa Rica is known for its unique geography and intense beauty and is extremely diverse in flora and fauna. Cashew Hill is no exception to this diversity, as it is located in one of Costa Rica’s most sundry cantons (counties). The opportunities for new experiences at Cashew Hill are endless and so is the fun!

Play with baby monkeys, see sloths, and other rescued and rehabilitated wildlife saved by this wonderful organization.
Just a short bus trip from Cashew Hill you can hike the nature trail and see monkeys (howler and white-faced), sloths, anteaters, turtles, birds, multiple other forest creatures, ferns, bromeliads, huge jungle trees, and the largest living coral reef in Costa Rica. After or during your hike, you can swim at beautiful deserted beaches.

There are many snorkeling reefs around Puerto Viejo. Some can be reached by bicycle (Punta Uva and Manzanillo). Others by bus (Cahuita). Punta Uva and Salsa Brava are the favorite snorkeling locations. Diving courses and trips are available through multiple dive shops, for all levels. Snorkel gear is available to rent in town.
The best surfing on the Caribbean Coast is at the famous Salsa Brava. This famous surf spot is within walking distance from Cashew Hill, but is for experienced surfers only. There are many other surfing beaches, such as Beach Break at Playa Cocles, within the Puerto Viejo area. Lessons are available for all ages. The waves are generally best from December through March, with a mini-season for surfing in June and July.
Ask about many interesting tours including the indigenous reserve, waterfall, chocolate house, and rafting tours available through various agencies. Cashew Hill has tour books and can make reservations for you.

Head to the Guapiles Highway (HWY 32).
When you reach Limon, turn right on Highway 36.
You’ll pass through the chilly heights of Braulio Carrillo National Park, the steamy lowlands of Guapiles, the Caribbean port town of Limon, and then follow the palm fringed coastal road south.
You can fly into Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San Jose. The trip from there to Puerta Viejo will take four hours. Depending on your arrival time, you may want to stay a night in San Jose and get an early start the next day. Please pay attention when choosing flight times as the airport shuttle services use a 12 p.m. cut off time for leaving Puerto Viejo at 6 a.m. and when making a flight in time for your trip home.
The local bus is called the MEPE. It costs about 11 USD. You will have to take a taxi to the bus station that can cost 20 USD.
Shared shuttle service: It is about 59 USD / person. It is an air-conditioned van that holds up to six people. It will pick you up across from the airport or at your hotel and deliver you to Cashew Hill. It only has two pick up times (07:20 or 14:30).
Private shuttle: This shuttle holds up to eight people and costs 230 USD for one to six people. Depending on your party size and what you want for privacy, this can be a great option.
