Driving direction from San Jose

Head to the Guapiles Highway (HWY 32).

You’ll pass through the chilly heights of Braulio Carrillo National Park, the steamy lowlands of Guapiles, the Caribbean port town of Limon, and then follow the palm fringed coastal road south.

Arrival by airplane

You can fly into Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San Jose. The trip from there to Puerta Viejo will take four hours. Depending on your arrival time, you may want to stay a night in San Jose and get an early start the next day. Please pay attention when choosing flight times as the airport shuttle services use a 12 p.m. cut off time for leaving Puerto Viejo at 6 a.m. and when making a flight in time for your trip home.

Arrival by bus

The local bus is called the MEPE. It costs about 11 USD. You will have to take a taxi to the bus station that can cost 20 USD.

Arrival by shuttle

Shared shuttle service: It is about 59 USD / person. It is an air-conditioned van that holds up to six people. It will pick you up across from the airport or at your hotel and deliver you to Cashew Hill. It only has two pick up times (07:20 or 14:30).

Private shuttle: This shuttle holds up to eight people and costs 230 USD for one to six people. Depending on your party size and what you want for privacy, this can be a great option.

"Yoga teacher training gave me purpose. It made me realize that I wouldn't change a thing from my past, because every thing that happened, every experience I had, was leading me towards teacher training. Our training gave me a whole new way of living; it made me able to believe in love, in people, and in a bigger entity. It also made me feel more confident and gave me the power to help others in a way I never believed I could before. Now, I don't suffer from constant anxiety and depression and whenever I feel it coming on, I understand myself, so I can control it a lot better. I would recommend teacher training to every person on earth!"

"I had no idea what I was getting myself into with yoga teacher training. It was the most challenging, inspiring, life-changing thing I've ever done. I was going through some stuff in my personal life at the time, and I almost dropped out the day before the program began. Now, I'm not sure what I would have done without the program. I can guarantee, no matter what's going on in your life, taking part in a yoga teacher training is a good idea. I'll forever be grateful to Avani and the staff at the Caribe Yoga Academy for guiding me along the first few steps on this lifelong path."

"Our yoga teacher training transformed my life in the most beautiful way. I learned to connect with myself and others. It completely opened my eyes to the fact that there are so many important people around me all the time. That was something I had taken for granted before. I'm living my life with more purpose now and I learned something from each and every person that was in the training."

"For me, the training was life changing. I quit my job and I practice every day at home or in a studio. I am so, so proud of myself for keeping up with my practice as this has led me to feel calmer, happier, lighter, and physically stronger. Now, I'm about to start another course, Adjustments and Alignments, which adds 30 hours to my training. I love the path yoga has taken me on."
