  • You will go through two small villages on the way: first, Wesley, and second, Woodford Hill.
  • Just after Woodford Hill, you will see a big, white building called Club Dominique.
  • After you pass it, you will go another minute or two and start looking for a sign that says Welcome to Calibishie. Just after this sign, on the left, you will see a Calibishie Cove sign.
  • Take a right onto a gravel road. (Note: it is also the first right after the Welcome to Calibishie sign.) Go down about 1/8 mile and the road will become concrete. Once it does, Calibishie Cove is the second building on the left and you will see the sign out front.

"We loved everything about this place. The location will take your breath away - unbelievable views out to sea and over the red rocks, to the beach at Woodford Hill with a few rocky islets in the foreground. It's spacious and tastefully decorated with lots of lovely dark wood and luxurious but simple furnishings. We also really enjoyed the food - we had dinner on our first night which was lovely and the setting on our balcony was very romantic. The breakfasts were perfect, lovely local fruit and pancakes and muesli made to order. It’s also very well located for exploring all of the north of the island although pretty much everything is accessible as Dominica is small and the roads are actually quite good. I'd wholeheartedly recommend this place and would love to go back."

"This is a fabulous location overlooking a small cove and surf swept island - you really do feel a sense of peace and tranquility. Our room was beautiful with a large private balcony where we were served breakfast each morning. There are no communal facilities for guests but you can order dinner to be served on your balcony - which we did each night. Our host (from London, as it happened) and his staff couldn't have been more attentive. It was a great place to unwind but we were within easy reach of good bird watching in the mountains behind Portsmouth - where we took advantage of the local expert, Dr Birdie, who found both the parrot species for us. Wi-fi was excellent and lack of a/c no real problem since the establishment is high enough up on the cliff to be breezy. The only downside were the insects - I did get quite badly bitten despite using the mosquito net at night. And you do need your own vehicle to get around. Overall it was a lovely experience if you want somewhere different and wish to be away from the mainstream.”"

"Clean and comfortable room, located on cliff overlooking forest and sea. The owner, Ken, is working hard to manage a really friendly team. He was a fantastic star when LIAT lost our baggage and didn't give up until each piece was safely returned. Great spot for birdwatchers who want a nice base when visiting Dominica."

"We travelled to Dominica in the beginning of December last year and that meant that it was still low season with empty attractions and we were lucky to have Calibishie Cove for ourselves."

"We choose to stay in the Sea View room with a 180 degree view of the ocean from a magical veranda with a hammock. It was a very nice touch with breakfast every morning on the veranda served by the very attentive staff. A special thank you to Brielle for on the first night introducing himself as the evening’s chef followed with a nice chat about Dominica and his life on this lovely Island."

"On the last morning Avis (manager) helped us organise our last day in Dominica, with hidden Waterfalls, of the beaten track spa's and a fish restaurant with a view to die for on the tip of Dominica."

"I would differently come back here but if you planning to stay in Calibishie you need a car. It's a good 1,5 hour drive from Roseau or at least 30 from the Airport. We found driving very easy with none very little traffic."

"We loved our room, -- the view and the details. The prepared meals were very tasty. The staff- Jay, Johanna (especially!), Jinelle, were all very nice and helpful, sweet people, which made the stay more enjoyable. Unfortunately, the kayak had a hole in it that we had set up to rent, and no one told us till the last minute, as well, we had signed up for a honeymoon package that included a tour of Trafalgar, which at this time, is really not worth touring, because it's been pretty destroyed by the storm. The prices were a bit high, but we really enjoyed our room and the view and everything in the room was very comfortable. As well, ken was helpful through email and did give us a discount in the package, since the kayak was broken and the tour not as good. Posh place- restaurant and bar is right down the road- walking distance, and that was an amazing place! We enjoyed staying here and will think of going back, although wish the room prices were a bit lower! :-) Dominica is a very special place!"

"The hotel is located next to the ocean with a breathtaking view to "Treasure Island" (Movie Location Pirates of the Caribbean). The rooms are very clean, because of the outstanding housekeeping service which e.g. includes laundry service. You can get your breakfast in your very own patio. We had delicious banana pancake with scrambled eggs and bacon. The breakfast is included. The owner is very lovely and will help you with everything."

"My wife surprised me with this trip for my birthday: a return to Dominica where I'd attended medical school 18 years ago. I had spent very little time on the Atlantic coast of the island but that was a mistake. Calibishie cove and the town of Calibishie are the perfect place to enjoy the island. We arrived a day early and stayed in the Rain Forest room which was nice and even had AC. The next night, we moved up to the penthouse. I had to pinch myself to see if this was a dream. It was perfect. The views were like none we'd ever experienced. We loved the open air concept and the constant breeze meant we didn't miss the AC.The plunge pool and outdoor shower were welcoming after returning from long days exploring Dominica. Daily breakfast was a nice touch and wonderful food. The hike to and from Hodges Beach, just below the inn, was a little tough but we found many beautiful beaches that had easy access during our stay. Rent a car...it's a must to truly see the whole island. The village just below the hotel is very friendly and safe. I can't imagine anywhere more perfect to stay in Dominica than Calibishie Cove. We can't wait to go back."

"We stayed here for 5 nights during on honeymoon in Dominica. 3 of the nights were in the Penthouse and it definitely worth it if you decide to stay here. The other rooms fell a lot less private but the penthouse is the entire top floor of the building and has the most sweeping views you will find. Peaches the cook is very nice and will bring you many local tea's and fruit every morning in addition to your breakfast order. We did 2 excursions through Calibishie Cove, but as others have noted if you are doing anything in the southern part of the island it is a day with at least 2 - 3 hours of driving. Overall it was a great experience as we had a rental car and could explore the island on our own and always come back to the lovely views Calibishie Cove offers."

"This lovely hotel with great views over the Atlantic Ocean. The staff was all very helpful, and the two cooks deserve a special mention for their excellent meals. It is a shame that there is no swimming pool available for most rooms, and it would have been nice if we had been able to get food on site at lunch time."
