Join Brigitte Yoga UK for a week of organic healthy food, long quiet beaches, and invigorating yoga practice only minutes away from Havana, Cuba that has been named one of the 7 New Wonders of the World. This is not a typical tourist resort because it is located in an area where many local people go on holiday. The hosts, the Cuban yoga team, are like a warm and welcoming family. This retreat is about you! You can choose to be really active, or choose to chill in a hammock. You will be staying on the beautiful beaches of Playas del Este. The hosts have promised to show you a side of Cuba that you won’t find anywhere else.
You will stay in Harmony Villas (Armonia). All rooms are spacious and comfortable, including air conditioning and en-suite bathroom. The water is naturally heated by solar panels. The room is close to the beach and facilitated with two pools and a marina. There is also a main house where all meals are served and all activities and workshops are held. This is also where the staff (teacher, chef, and host) stays.
You will have access to a beautiful indoor yoga studio with air conditioning and stunning views of the sea. Among the villas, there is also an outdoor rooftop studio for a fresh air option. The serenity of the outdoor terraces make them perfect for reading or for sunset meditation.
There will be a yoga class each morning before breakfast and another class will be held in the late afternoon or evening. The late afternoon or evening yoga class will be led by one of the most experienced and talented Iyengar trained teachers in the world, Eduardo Pimentel. He has been called the Grandfather of Yoga in Cuba. He’s also a warm and kind person with an amazing sense of humor. These classes will be more restorative in nature.
In addition to your daily yoga classes with Brigitte Yoga UK's yoga teachers, there is an optional daily class with the local Cuban yoga instructors and an exclusive one-on-one class with Cuban yoga master, Eduardo Pimentel.
In this retreat, you will have an excursion to explore Havana town.
Since 1982, Eduardo Pimentel has taught yoga and meditation to over 12,000 students all over the island of Cuba. He has studied with various teachers in India and the United States, and has been featured on television both locally and abroad.
Eduardo has always been interested in both physical and mental fitness. In his youth, he was equally interested in both sports, for the physical challenge, and chess, for the mental stimulation. He eventually rejected both as unhealthy due to their competitive nature, reasoning that the ultimate goal of chess is to “kill your opponent”.
His interest in physical and mental practice coalesced in the early 1970's when he read a book on yoga by Swami Sivananda, which began a self-guided journey into a life-long practice of yoga and meditation. It was self-guided because there were no yoga teachers in Cuba at that time and travel abroad was not possible. So, he studied from books for over a decade, while exchanging “airgram” letters (and later meeting) with BKS Iyengar.
Described as the “city frozen in time”, Havana’s beautiful cityscape is a reminiscence of a time long ago, with unforgettable blue waters and soft white sand beaches. Havana forces you to slow down and catch your breath. The authentic and carefree culture of the Cuban people is a welcome reminder that happiness and inner peace can come easily. You will be staying in one of the beautiful beach villas surrounded by lush plants and tropical flowers are the perfect setting for your yoga journey. They are situated just steps away from the beach.
You will be served three healthy organic meals each day by the expert local chef who uses only the best ingredients grown nearby. The chef and his assistant are highly experienced. They have worked for the best private restaurants in Havana and truly do their best to cater to all of your needs. All of your meals are organic, from the local gardens in Havana. There is always a 100% vegetarian option, with the choice of adding sea food or chicken on two days. If you feel like having Cuba Libre, beer, or a glass of wine, there is a local bar on the property. Cuban coffee, herbal tea, water, and fresh fruit smoothies are always available.
You will need to book a flight to José Martí International Airport (HAV) or Juan Gualberto Gómez Airport (VRA). Brigitte Yoga UK can assist with booking the transfer from both airports. From José Martí International Airport (HAV), the transfer is 17 GBP for 30 minutes, while from Juan Gualberto Gómez Airport (VRA), the transfer is 46 GBP for 90 minutes.
"I first started yoga with Brigitte because I had a hectic life and a stressful job. Nearly 10 years later, I still have a hectic life and a stressful job but I am no longer rushed and I am no longer stressed. Put simply, she has changed my life. Brigitte uses her knowledge of the body to ensure all her students succeed, from beginners to advanced yogis. At the end of her classes, your body is stretched and your mind is relaxed. Her restorative classes leave you feeling nurtured and loved. What you learn in Brigitte’s classes is not just about yoga but about how to improve your life, both physically and mentally."

"Brigitte is not only a brilliant meditation and yoga teacher but an amazingly selfless and inspiring individual. She’s always learning more to pass on to her yogis. Whether at one of her yoga classes, meditation, or the sublime restorative yoga, she takes great care of us all and you can’t fail to leave inspired and feeling a whole lot better than when you went in! Personally Brigitte has given me loads of free advice, particularly when I was seriously ill last year. Everyone should try her classes or retreats. You will wish you joined years ago!"

"Since practicing yoga with Brigitte, I have learned to weave what I learn in classes into everyday life rather than just turning up on my mat once a week. Brigitte is inspirational and teaches from her heart. She uses real life experiences and opens her heart to all. I always feel empowered to try new things and enjoy the journey. I come out of classes feeling nurtured. This year, I went on my first yoga retreat with Brigitte and did not know what to expect, getting up early is not really my idea of a holiday! However, it was the most amazing journey and I cannot wait for the next retreat. I feel blessed to have found such a wonderful and inspiring teacher."
