Pondok Pitaya Surfer Hotel is a beautifully built, well-managed yoga and surf focused retreat center. This is a truly impressive facility with a stunning yoga studio, a swimming pool, a spa, restaurant, serene gardens, and a sanctuary to sit back and relax in. The beach is perfect for long walks and has all year round waves for surfing. All rooms have been reconstructed from indigenous houses imported from Java, dating back to the 1930s. Rooms include twin share surfer suites and large houses that can sleep up to eight people. It is one of the best places in Balian Beach for surfing and yoga.

The suites

The bungalows are cozy alternative hotel consisting of different types of Indonesian traditional wooden bungalows built of teak woods and boat woods, facing the surf break, swimming pool, conveniently located literally meters from the beach. Each bungalow is unique in its own way. There is no room that has the same design, fitted with queen size bed, ceiling fan, hot shower, and a safe box for guest valuables. In-room fridge is available on the bigger size bungalow. The air-conditioned river suites have more elegant design with the modern touch for a better sleep quality.

Upon arrival in Balian Beach, take your time to relax and unwind. Then, you will have a light, bright yoga practice to stretch and revitalize you from the journey. You will have a welcoming ceremony and family dinner together on the first night to kick-off the retreat. The rest is for you to discover.

There will be two classes per day, the rest of the day is all yours! In the mornings, you will start the day with a radiant morning yoga practice and a healthily delicious breakfast. You will practice meditation such as walking meditations, group meditations, and individual contemplation. You will also practice mindfulness techniques in activities such as journaling, using tools for everyday life, and craft-making. In crafting, you will learn to make Malas necklaces, Mandalas, and more. Other fun mindfulness activities include swimming and surfing. You have one free surf lesson with board rental.

You will also have time to explore the Balian Beach and its surrounding township, restaurants, and shops. In the evenings, you will practice restorative yoga. You will also experience a bonfire ceremony. All in all, it is an experience of a lifetime! Connect with other like-minded people, make new friendships, and enjoy the breathtaking surroundings of Bali.

Natalie is both a Physiologist and Kinesiologist, serving the Kamloops community in British Columbia, Canada for over 12 years. She specializes in active rehabilitation for orthopaedic and chronic conditions, as well as cardiac rehab. She has also attained certification through the National Institute for Application of Behavioral Medicine in Mindfulness and Psychotherapy in the practice of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Natalie has completed numerous teacher trainings in various styles of yoga: Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin, Svastha Yoga Therapy.

Retreat location

This retreat will take place in Bali, Indonesia. Balian Beach is located in west Bali, a 90-minute drive north of Seminyak. Pondok Pitaya Surfer Hotel is located in Balian Beach on the edge of a natural volcanic black sand beach and beautiful cliff crafted by nature itself.

A healthy and delicious breakfast will be served daily. The diverse population of Indonesia brings a vast variety of foods and a seemingly limitless assortment of food preparation approaches, resulting in an assortment of some of the tastiest, most vibrant and most colorful dishes in the world. Influences from China and from the Middle East have enriched Indonesian menus with delicious curries, grilled meat, and seafood and tempeh, a unique Indonesian variation of fermented soy. The Balinese chefs at Pondok Pitaya Resort are extremely talented. Every meal will blow you away with unique flavors, presentation, and an array of fresh delicious tropical fruit and juices.

This is where you can enjoy a variety of delicious meal in Balian Beach serving a wide variety of authentic Indonesian, Western, and Asian cuisines. The hotel provides you with two restaurants to choose from. The beach restaurant is where you can sit and enjoy the rest of the evening with beach lounge and acoustic music. There is also an authentic Japanese restaurant that serves the finest seafood Balian Beach can offer.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS). Transfer from and to the airport is included if you booked to include your flight. If you take the option to book early and stay in Cangu prior to the retreat, the luxury shuttle will pick you up at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning from Serenity Guesthouse in Cangu, taking you directly to the resort center.

Cancellation Policy

  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 2 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
