On the estate, is an Indonesian "spirit house" in which you can sit in contemplation. A fire pit, extensive citrus orchard and flower gardens surround the artifacts collected from Bali and other countries abroad. With its own hydro-electric system and solar power, this is a beautiful eco-estate. Accommodation consists on six rustic, cozy "hales" or rooms, including two simple "barn hales' (attached to the barn), each with two double beds and shared bathroom, and four bungalow style hales, each with two double or single beds, a deck and shared bathrooms and outdoor hot water showers.

Daily itinerary

  • Sunrise meditation and pranayama (breathing awareness)
  • Bountiful, wholesome, and delicious breakfast
  • Time to rest and digest, or walk the citrus orchards and organic gardens
  • Late morning gentle, therapeutic yoga
  • Create and pack your lunch-to-go (or to stay) from a buffet of nutritious ingredients
  • Afternoon break to explore the beautiful North Kohala area at your leisure: black sand beaches, white sand, hikes, visit sacred sites, or relax
  • Late afternoon iRest yoga Nidra sessions
  • Cooking classes on at least two of the days, with as much involvement as you would like with the chef each day in the open air kitchen
  • Sumptuous, organic, farm-to-fork dinner
  • Evening wisdom talk and Q & A, or sharing to close the evening
  • Sunday evening optional meditation with a local group and Dhamma talk with a dhamma teacher of international acclaim
  • Closing "luau" style evening together, with an introduction to spiritual hula, Hawaiian chanting, fire circle (subj to weather) and more
  • Each year, the students under-promise and over deliver with sharings from local teachers and practitioners. Be open to a pleasant surprise or two!

Julie Seibt has developed over the years a rich background of certifications and experience in yoga. She studied mindfulness under Steven Smith and Michele McDonald, teaching movement classes to support a meditation practice at their Vipassana Retreats in Thailand and Hawaii since 2010. As an Asian bio-energetic therapist, master Reiki teacher, and Thai massage therapist, Julie brings a holistic, compassionate, and mindful approach to well being.

Retreat location

A private, sustainable ranch with citrus orchards, organic gardens, and cozy bungalows will be your home. The property is located in North Kohala on the island of Hawaii, commonly known as The Big Island, at the end of the road amid lush, tropical greenery. A stunning black sand beach is a five-minute drive, or 25 minutes walk away. White sand beaches are also a short drive away.

North Kohala's quaint towns of Hawi ("ha-vee") and Kapa'au ("Ka-pa-ow) offer conveniences like a pharmacy, post office, gas stations, a bank, ATMs, restaurant, shops and galleries as well as numerous alternative health care practitioners and conventional medical and dental clinics.

Enjoy the delicious and nutritious meals prepared by Chef Samantha which will feature fresh, local and organic products as much as possible. Sam entertains and educates with humor and passion in the open air kitchen. The focus will be on local cuisine with options of local fish, like 'Mahi-mahi' or 'Ono', and chicken. Citrus fruits are available in abundance in the orchard surrounding the dining 'hale'. Yoga and meditation in Hawaii - delicious!

Body Mind Ease Therapeutic Yoga will provide gluten-free choices with each meal. If you would benefit by bringing your own snacks, please do so. Please communicate dietary restrictions at least three weeks prior to the retreat.

Things to do (optional)

Freedom with support is the theme. You will be given maps and advice from our local team for popular destinations and recommendations "off-the-map" experiences. Browse art galleries, swim, beach comb, explore hikes along sea-cliffs and valleys, take a scenic drive, visit a Hawaiian sacred spiritual site, go fishing or snorkeling or stay on the beautiful ranch and sway in a hammock.

Visit the Saturday farmers market or indulge at a quaint coffee shop or ice-cream parlor. But leave a room the succulent dinner that awaits your return!

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

There are direct flights to Kona International Airport (KOA) at Keahole from the mainland on WestJet, US Air, and United Airline as well as others. You do not have to go through Honolulu.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 100% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
