The barn has got everything you need! A large area with underfloor heating for the yoga shala. A beautiful, hand-crafted kitchen fully equipped for the caterers. Cosy, extremely comfortable en-suite bedrooms that let you indulge in a blissful night’s sleep. Eco-efforts are shown in the wood chip burning biomass boiler that supplies hot water and heating, and eco-waste management. The high standards shine through the luxurious final touches. Simply magical.

The peaceful, remote setting of the barns offers great walks in the countryside - don’t forget your hiking boots for a scenic afternoon walk. There are plenty of hiding spaces to cosy in with a book, or you can mingle with like-minded people chatting about the joint experiences of the yoga weekend.

Program

Morning mindfulness practices will be based on the Himalayan tradition of meditation. Themes will include ‘a deeper connection with breath’ and ‘turning towards mindfulness’, designed to reduce stress. Bobble Yoga will introduce tools that will make it easy to implement these mindfulness practices in your everyday life.

Morning asana (physical exercise) practices will be based on Bobble’s Breathe And Flow methodology, suitable for beginners, complete beginners, and general yoga goers too. There’ll be props to ensure maximum benefits and alignment is achieved in the poses, regardless of experience. This practice is based on traditional Ashtanga and Hatha yoga, energizing and strengthening as well as releasing stress and anxiety by deepening your breath and body movement connection.

Evening asana practices will be a combination of slower Hatha and Restorative / Yin yoga methodologies, making most of all of the props and mindfulness practices. Expect these to allow for your body and mind to relax at the end of your day. You will notice they feel magical because you are surprised by the changes you experience when you change the style of yoga being practiced.

When practicing restorative poses, you’re literally restoring balance in your body’s architecture, organ functions, and mind. The props not only release you of effort but also position your body in such a way so as to reduce strain on joints. The goal is “total relaxation”: The state in which there is no movement, no effort, no muscles holding bones; just deep, delicious rest.

There will be two yoga workshops, one each on Friday and Saturday. The workshops are always different in content, as you grow and learn, and as Bobble Yoga tailors to your needs. Here is the outline that they base the workshops on.

Friday

1. The foundations: What is yoga and what should I know about it?

2. The physical foundations, and breaking down surya namaskar (sun salutations)

  • You’ll play with props to discover unused muscles in your feet, your arms, and other areas of your bodies
  • Surya namaskar A and B (sun salutations) are the two most complex movement series practiced physically in yoga, building up to 17 standalone poses together
  • You will learn alignment for each of these poses, the anatomical benefits as well as the usage of props to aid alignment even for the least flexible of all!
  • You will put all this into practice in a playful way to make it easy to remember

Saturday

The art of slowing down - Practical tools for stress release

  • You will talk about stress and anxiety, the different triggers and will look to understand the physiological aspects of their effects on the body; including talking about what is fascia and what can influence fascia release
  • You’ll learn how and why to activate our parasympathetic nervous system
  • How and why can different pranayama - breathing techniques - help
  • What is Restorative yoga and Yin yoga, and the ways it helps ease stress. You will learn 3 key restorative yoga poses that you can use back home, on holiday, or even during business travels!
  • All designed to easily include in your self-practice back home

Free time

Bobble Yoga will be making sure that making decisions will be reduced to the minimum for you - after all, you are joining them to relax and leave all stress behind! The biggest decision you’ll need to make will probably be whether to book into a massage or use the sauna or go for a fresh, sunny walk!

  • Bring your hiking boots and explore the beautiful countryside, using one of the mapped walks
  • Enjoy and refresh in the sauna in Wales or drop into the hot tub in the Cotswolds!
  • Mingle with fellow yogis on an exploratory journey and discussion
  • Cosy-in and hideaway with a book - Bobble Yoga will bring some in the topic of yoga too!

The yoga retreats in the Cotswolds are set in the luxurious Cotswold Park Barns, in Gloucestershire. Simon, the owner, created a venue that nestles perfectly into the Cotswolds countryside, and yet offers a modern, exquisite accommodation and retreat center.

Food

Delicious, healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner; enjoy a cup of the green or herbal tea selection; or wake up with a wonderful coffee.

Bobble Yoga caters for all dietary requirements. They work with chefs who have solid experience in catering for yoga retreats and have a similar mindset to theirs! The tasty menu is vegetarian or vegan, and any special requirements are catered for with ease, as long as you tell them in advance. All ingredients are locally sourced as much as possible and naturally gluten free! The only exception may be bread, where they offer both gluten and non-gluten options too.

  • Miso soup with tofu / rice noodles / spring onion / garlic and ginger

How to get there

Driving directions to Cotswold Park Barns

The postcode for Cotswold Park Barns in Gloucestershire is GL7 7EL, which brings you within metres of the gates to the Barns.

  • From A417, take exit for Services, Duntisbourne Abbotts.
  • Turn left immediately.
  • Take next right to Woodmancote. Down hill and up a very steep hill.
  • At top bear round to left and 150 yards on the right are the gates to the Barns.
  • There are signs for Cotswold Park Barns on either side of the wooden gates.
  • Do not try and go through the grey metal gates on right immediately at top as they are to the private house!

Bobble Yoga will send you a code in advance that you’ll need to tap in at the wooden gates, so that you can come through the wooden gates and drive across the park to the Barns.

Arrival by train

Cirencester is the closest train station and the barns are about a 15 minutes drive from there. Bobble Yoga recommends pre-booking a taxi or an über for this bit of the journey, as the easiest method to complete your journey!

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 17% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
