    Nice combination of relaxation and excursions

    This yoga retreat was well designed. I enjoyed the yoga instruction of Katarzyna Simonowicz. The yoga deck is gorgeous and I loved the hummingbirds around the site.

    We selected a hike to a waterfall and horseback riding to a different waterfall as our included excursions. Both were beautiful and moderately challenging. The guides pointed out monkeys, toucans and other wildlife along the way.

    We had plenty of time to enjoy other property amenities such as the seven pools and hot springs, natural sauna, spa and gardens. One highlight was listening to all of the birds each morning.

    Staff is friendly and helpful. They came to get us to show us a sloth in a tree.

    The food was abundant and delicious. Fresh juice at each meal was a plus.

    I would definitely go back.

    Great getaway

    From the beginning of me planning this trip, the facility was very responsive to all of my questions and very attentive to provide additional details. Regarding the excursions, Ronald was an amazing tour guide, very knowledgeable and passionate about nature and enjoying life. Magalie was a great yoga instructor- her evening classes are very meditative and calming. She brought such a positive energy to every class. The accommodations were as expected. The food and service at the restaurant were stellar. The shuttle to and from the airport was also very good. The driver was extremely accommodating and even asked if I wanted to make other stops to see other locations on our way to and from the resort. The overall experience was everything I needed. I look forward to my return.

    Awesome eco adventure in the rain forest

    Excellent tours on site, lush grounds, excellent food, super helpful staff, hammocks on the porch, mineral hot springs, comfortable rooms. Would stay here again.

    Yoga and adventure package -Solo female traveler

    Beautiful and peaceful surroundings with multiple gardens to explore, natural thermal pools and sauna for detoxing and unwinding, and wonderful accommodations and spaces to disconnect from the hustle bustle of city living.

    Meals were included with many vegetarian options and the wait staff (Kevin, Joel, Kaylor, & Ernesto) provided great service!

    Two yoga classes were offered daily--one a bit more rigorous, the other more yin/pranayama focused. (I had Magali & Alberto for instructors).

    The best part for me was the tours. I did horseback riding, Ziplining, & the Cathedral waterfall hike. The waterfall hike was the most amazing part and I had the best tour guide ever (Ronald). He taught me a lot about the plants in the area, made me feel safe on the hike, and was funny too! It totally made my whole trip worthwhile! And thanks to the reception staff (Fabian) for making the trip possible.

    Everyone on the staff was so friendly and welcoming, including one of the gardeners (José) who made sure I had a good experience since I was traveling alone.

    I highly recommend Blue River Resort!

    Tranquility

    Upon entering the premises, you notice the quite, lush surroundings disturbed by the many local birds chirping and flying from trees to plants. The grounds was picturesque, clean and filled with many areas to sit and enjoy the surroundings. I liked the seclusion of the resort, I felt safe, at peace and comfortable. The resort is large enough you can walk around and still get a good daily walk. The hot springs, yoga, message and staff made this place a perfect retreat. The dining staff, especially Edwardo, and the housekeeping really made this place above and beyond its value.

    Yoga in the rainforest

    I really loved Mallory’s kind, peaceful presence as a yoga instructor. She made the experience challenging yet successful, and was so creative and definitely “thinks outside the box”. I loved her sound garden with vibrating bowls at the end, with the sounds of the jungle and water flowing all around a beautiful wooden yoga platform. ❤️

    I also loved the tours available, I did the amazing hike to the Cathedral to see the waterfall in the cave, and the tubing on the Rio Azule. The tour guides, Ronald and Kaylor and others were so personable and fun, but very professional and so familiar with the river and the area, that I felt very safe and supported. Highly recommend!

    Blue river yoga retreat

    Location 5 stars

    Steam cave, mud, bath , thermal springs, spa experience , yoga with Maga 5 stars.

    Restaurant service was good

    Room gorgeous 4 stars. Should have 1 water bottle for guests upon arrival.

    Beautiful Location, Great Yoga

    This was an amazing location. It's very clear why they've won the TripAdvisor award for many years in a row. The lodging was clean and comfortable, food was delicious with multiple options for different dietary restrictions, and the excursions were fun! I was a solo female traveler and felt safe the entire time. This was more of an individualized yoga retreat, but this was great as I was able to customize my time to what I wanted to do in addition to the twice daily yoga.

    Walter was a phenomenal host!

    I am still processing my retreat experience but from the airport pickup to the inviting and accomodating restaurant staff (like Lester), and the oversized comfy cottages, I am beyond impressed.

    Walter's attentiveness during yoga sessions to the specific needs of the body and added touches like assisted back tension relief and gentle arm massages, everything was breathtaking. I enjoyed several excursions: horsebackriding to twin falls, hike to cathedral waterfalls, and the last day went with Sensoria to the magical rainforest since the volcanic eruption caused many of the other excursions to be cancelled. I will def be back soon, already planning my next visit. Thank you everyone for a heavenly experience!!
