Blue Osa Beach Resort & Spa is the perfect place to rejuvenate and retreat. From the friendly smiles of the staff who knows your name to the way the bread is baked from scratch daily, everything is done mindfully with love. With 13 rooms and a capacity for 38 guests, this intimate beachfront eco-resort offers the ultimate sanctuary if you’re seeking solace from the hectic world. Nestled off-the-beaten-path in the virgin Costa Rican rainforest of the Southern Osa Peninsula, guests have an endless selection of quiet places to meditate and reflect. Only 50 meters away from the waves, you can see the private beach while practicing yoga from the elegantly designed second-floor yoga studio. Onsite, there is also a chemical-free lap pool for an afternoon swim.

Blue Osa Yoga Retreat & Spa has a saying here in Costa Rica: pura vida. It means full life, and at Blue Osa, they aim to give the guests just that. Each of the rooms and bungalows is uniquely designed to deliver on comfort, convenience, and relaxation. Whether it’s heightened ocean views, a serene garden setting, or a spacious beachfront bungalow, at Blue Osa you’ll find purpose-built, jungle-chic rooms that create the ideal setting for a tranquil, restorative yoga teacher training.

Eco-friendly is not only in design, but Blue Osa also encourages guests to be mindful by implementing a morning silence to a pre-dinner ritual of presenting the food during their freshly prepared organic farm-to-table communal meals. For full relaxation, there is also a full-service spa offering Blue Osa signature facials and body scrubs. Massage practitioners offering therapies such as Thai and deep tissue massage.

A Chinese medicine acupuncturist is also available. Built from the ground up as a sustainable micro-grid that runs mostly on solar power, Blue Osa intends to leave the smallest carbon footprint possible. By living in harmony with the environment, guests experience balanced, mindful living. Blue Osa Yoga Retreat & Spa's mission is to provide guests with an unforgettable experience that nourishes body, mind, and spirit.

Step into the tranquil oasis that is Blue Osa. Set on a remote beachfront location, this eco-resort houses up to 38 guests in 13 comfortable eco-chic rooms located in three main buildings along with on-site facilities: A column-free 1,350 square foot open-air yoga studio on the second floor of the yoga building overlooks their private beach. There is a full-service eco-spa with two treatment rooms each with a private, zen-like garden, and outdoor shower. The cocina is an open kitchen and dining room. During your stay, Blue Osa Yoga Retreat & Spa provides healthy, mostly plant-based meals that include freshly-caught fish and locally-raised meat and poultry. Coffee, tea, and purified water are available throughout the day. A lounge area near the staff office features complimentary wireless internet access.

There is a chemical-free lap pool with a solar-powered filtration system. An eco-friendly copper-silver ionizing system is used so that algae and other bacteria cannot live in the water. At one end of the pool sits the pool pavilion with comfortable lounge sofas and chairs, perfect for a casual meeting or reading a great book. At the other end of the pool sits a beautiful Indian-style temple with a fire kunda. This space is perfect for a private yoga practice or meditation. An organic garden provides the kitchen with fresh vegetables and herbs. On the property are mango, guanabana, starfruit, citrus, banana, coconut, avocado, papaya trees, and a pineapple patch. Additionally, Blue Osa Yoga Retreat & Spa grows their own spinach, yucca, and other root vegetables. Every day, the farmers bring freshly laid eggs to the cocina.

Retreat location

The Osa Peninsula

Blue Osa is located about 8 miles (11 kilometers) south of Puerto Jimenez on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica which National Geographic Magazine labeled “the most biologically intense place on Earth”. They are nearest to the border of the world-renowned Corcovado National Park and on the warm shores of the Golfo Dulce. While visiting the tropical eco-resort you are likely to spot some of Costa Rica’s shyest and most endangered rainforest inhabitants, including the red-backed squirrel monkey, scarlet macaws, harpy eagles, and maybe even a jaguar.

Costa Rica is located on the Central American isthmus, it borders Nicaragua to the north and Panama to the south. The Caribbean Sea is to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Costa Rica is slightly north of the equator, therefore, the climate is tropical year-round. Costa Rica was and continues to be a pioneer country in eco-tourism, drawing visitors to the extensive national parks and protected areas across the country.

The Osa Peninsula (where Blue Osa is located) is characterized by warm, breezy days, with highs between 82 to 92 degrees, and lows in the range of 75 to 85 degrees. Please take note, however, that the Osa Peninsula is part of the rainforest, and is surrounded by jungle. Because the Osa Peninsula is blessed with wonderful weather year-round, there really isn’t a “best” time to visit.

Though most guidebooks list the ideal time to travel to Costa Rica as December through May, Blue Osa Yoga Retreat & Spa enjoys a stable climate of 75 to 85 degrees relatively year-round. Of course, don’t try looking for that information via online weather reports. Their private oasis is so off the map, Google has yet to find them. Fun fact: the 19,730 miles (about the size of West Virginia) that make up Costa Rica actually house 20 different climate zones. The bottom line? The time to visit is whenever you want. Take a moment to check out Blue Osa Yoga Retreat & Spa's weekly weather report and see for yourself.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Puerto Jiménez Airport (PJM). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request.

Upon your arrival into San Jose at Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO), you will need to make a connection that will bring you south to the Osa Peninsula. A flight from Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) to Puerto Jiménez Airport (PJM) takes approximately 45 minutes.

Isaac, from Wellness Travel Costa Rica, will assist you with Blue Osa Yoga Retreat & Spa's exclusive Sansa flight rates and also the exclusive hotel rates for your first and last night in San Jose. Please make sure you tell them you are coming to Blue Osa. Remember if you arrive early and feel adventurous, Costa Rica has it all! Arrival by bus

Traveling by bus is recommended only by experienced travelers or if you are adequate in the Spanish language. You can do some additional research on the internet on where the terminal is in San Jose.
