During this training, you will be staying in Blue Osa Beach Resort & Spa with the options of a private room, shared double room, or shared triple room. Blue Osa Beach Resort & Spa is the perfect place to rejuvenate and retreat. Each of the rooms and bungalows is uniquely designed to deliver on comfort, convenience, and relaxation. Whether it is heightened ocean views, a serene garden setting, or a spacious beachfront bungalow, at Blue Osa, you will find purpose-built, jungle-chic rooms that create the ideal setting for a tranquil, restorative yoga teacher training.

With 12 rooms and a capacity for 32 guests, this intimate beachfront eco-resort offers the ultimate sanctuary if you’re seeking solace from the hectic world. Only 50 meters away from the waves, you can see the private beach while practicing yoga from the elegantly designed second-floor yoga studio. Blue Osa does not have air conditioning.

It is a low impact, beachfront eco-hotel, and they work rigorously to reduce the carbon footprint and the impact on the surrounding environment. Thus, each of the room is equipped with a ceiling fan and the architectural design of Blue Osa allows a constant flow of air through screen walls, creating a fresh and breezy environment.

So while it may come as a shock to some that Blue Osa does not have air conditioning, Blue Osa has found that the vast majority of the guests are always quite comfortable. There is also no television and hairdryer due to the fact that Blue Osa is operated by solar power. On-site, there is a chemical-free lap pool with a solar-powered filtration system for an afternoon swim.

An eco-friendly copper-silver ionizing system is used so that algae and other bacteria cannot live in the water. At one end of the pool sits the pool pavilion with comfortable lounge sofas and chairs, perfect for a casual meeting or reading a great book. At the other end of the pool, sits a beautiful Indian style temple with a fire kunda.

This space is perfect for a private yoga practice or meditation. There is also an organic garden that provides the kitchen with fresh vegetables and herbs. On the property, there are mango, guanabana, starfruit, citrus, banana, coconut, avocado, papaya trees, and a pineapple patch. Additionally, Blue Osa Beach Resort & Spa will grow their own spinach, yucca, and other root vegetables.



Upon completion of this yoga teacher training, students will receive certificate affiliated with Yoga Alliance. Registration with Yoga Alliance provides a globally recognized credential.

Your one-month asana yoga teacher training immersion at the Blue Osa Eco-Resort & Spa in Costa Rica will help you teach from a place of authenticity by equipping you with a more precise and physically rock-solid understanding of the yoga asanas. Because if you do not have stability, you have nothing and that’s a literal and metaphysical truth.

Intensively studying the proper mechanics of the yoga poses will give you physical certainty and stability, the ability to accommodate and offer therapeutic sequences to students with back, knee and posture issues, and a spiritual steadiness. What you practice with your muscles, you practice with your mind and vice versa.

This yoga teacher training is for teachers and students at life’s crossroads or whoever wants to discover your life purpose. Through this training, you will realize the full potential of your mind, you will learn how to use yoga postures therapeutically to accommodate physical limitations or heal injuries, and develop a daily meditation practice.

Besides that, you will learn to accommodate for injuries and limitations with yourself and students while gaining the biomechanical and energetic knowledge you need to offer better direction and adjustments to your students. You will also learn specific techniques that will enable you to easily teach to several student levels simultaneously in one class and how to use asanas or postures therapeutically to accommodate physical limitations or heal injuries.

Last but not least, you will learn how to sequence your asanas to create a natural, therapeutic, and transformative arcs in your classes and practice all of these skills directly in classes you lead during your training at the Blue Osa.

The specific physical and spiritual knowledge you will learn and practice at the Blue Osa one-month asana yoga teacher training will help you become more certain, steadfast, and strong, which means you will be truly and deeply ready to offer this space to your students and yourself. The total hours of this training is 200.5 hours.


Techniques training and practice (105.5 hours)

Includes asanas, pranayamas, kriyas, chanting mantra, meditation, and other traditional yoga techniques. These hours are a mix between analytical training in how to teach and practice the techniques and guided practice of the techniques themselves.

Anatomy and physiology (20 hours)

Includes both human physical anatomy and physiology (bodily systems, organs, and more) and energy anatomy and physiology (chakras, nadis, and more). It also includes both the study of the subject and application of its principles to yoga practice (benefits, contraindications, healthy movement patterns, and more).

Practicum (12.5 hours)

Includes practice teaching, receiving feedback, observing others teaching, and hearing and giving feedback. It also includes assisting students while someone else is teaching.

Teaching methodology (26.5 hours)

Includes principles of demonstration, observation, assisting and correcting, instruction, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher, the student’s process of learning, and business aspects of teaching yoga.

Yoga philosophy and lifestyle and ethics for yoga teachers (36 hours)

Includes the study of yoga philosophies, yoga lifestyle, and ethics for yoga teachers.

Styles of yoga

While Hatha yoga is at the core of what you will do, Blue Osa differentiate themselves by offering a holistic approach to yoga that emphasizes function over form. It is believed that yoga should be tailored to the individual and that a good yoga teacher knows how to facilitate a unique practice to meet unique needs. The Blue Osa yoga teacher training methodology has been influenced by multiple traditions, including Vinyasa, Iyengar, and Anusara yoga.

Yogi Aaron has spent a considerable amount of time in India and has been taught directly from the Himalayan tradition. Aaron also has a strong background in yoga therapy and brings in therapeutic elements when appropriate.

Yogi Aaron
Yogi Aaron is a master teacher and the author of Autobiography of a Naked Yogi. He has been a student of yoga since 1991 and a teacher since 1997, studying with Alan Finger, Bryan Kest, Genny Kapuler, Rod Stryker, Swami Rama, and David Swenson in yoga ashrams and retreat centers around the world. Aaron has made pilgrimages seeking to understand the Vedic tradition and Tantric path and studied closely with numerous spiritual masters during his treks throughout the Himalaya Mountains.

Retreat location

This training will take place in Puerto Jiménez, Costa Rica. Nestled off-the-beaten-path in the virgin Costa Rican rainforest of the Southern Osa Peninsula, guests have an endless selection of quiet places to meditate and reflect. Blue Osa is located about eight miles or 11 kilometers south of Puerto Jimenez on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica, which National Geographic Magazine labeled as “the most biologically intense place on earth.”

Blue Osa is nearest to the border of the world-renowned Corcovado National Park and on the warm shores of the Golfo Dulce. While visiting the tropical eco-resort, you are likely to spot some of Costa Rica’s shyest and most endangered rainforest inhabitants, including the red-backed squirrel monkey, scarlet macaws, harpy eagles, and maybe even a jaguar. Costa Rica is located on the Central American isthmus, it borders Nicaragua to the north and Panama to the south.

The Caribbean Sea is to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Costa Rica is slightly north of the equator, therefore, the climate is tropical year round. Costa Rica was and continues to be a pioneer country in eco-tourism, drawing visitors to the extensive national parks and protected areas across the country.

During this retreat, you will be served with daily plant-based meals. All meals will be plant-based meals. Blue Osa believes that nutritious, wholesome food is not only the foundation for a productive life but is also essential for a happy one. Food that nourishes the soul not only needs to be healthy, but it also needs to be tasty and delicious! Blue Osa is devoted to serving the freshest ingredients possible that are delivered daily to the kitchen.

Everyday, the farmers will bring freshly laid eggs to the kitchen. The locally-sourced red snapper and mahi-mahi are freshly-caught by neighboring fishermen. Whether it is pineapple from the Blue Osa property or eggs from the farmers down the road, all produce supports the local economy. Loving hands knead homemade bread, gardeners gather herbs from the greenhouse and knowledgeable chefs create a gourmet menu under the guidance of Chef Marie.

This is truly a farm to table dining experience. As an all-inclusive eco-resort, Blue Osa typically serves three regular meals or four daily meals which consist of two larger, full-course meals and two smaller, snack-like meals. For other retreats, the daytime meals are primarily vegetarian and the evening meals may include meat or fish. Blue Osa favors a buffet style of service, however, it is not an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Meals are proportioned with optimum health in mind. No one leaves Blue Osa hungry, guaranteed. If you have dietary requirements, please let the kitchen know in advance and Blue Osa will do their best to accommodate you. Blue Osa offers vegan and gluten-free alternatives to the majority of the menu. However, Blue Osa do not serve individual meals or kosher meals.

Because of the difficulties in maintaining a minibar service at Blue Osa, they are unable to provide for the consumption of outside food, drinks, or alcohol. The bar is open throughout the day and there is a selection of beer and wine and refreshing specialty drinks. Please remember that Blue Osa is in the jungle and that opened bottles of alcohol and packages of food will attract unwanted visitors to your room such as snakes, ants, and pizotes.

If you still choose to consume privately bought alcohol please do so in the privacy of your room or on the beach. Blue Osa do not allow privately bought alcohol in the dining room or at the pool. Blue Osa thank you for your understanding and compliance. Meals included in your stay are dinner on the day of arrival, breakfast, lunch, and dinner on each full day, and breakfast on the day of departure to coincide with the check-in time of 2 p.m. and check-out time of 10 a.m.

Please book your flight to arrive at San Jose Costa Rica (SJO). Upon your arrival to San Jose at Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO), you will need to make a connection that will bring you south to the Osa Peninsula. From here, please arrange your flight to arrive at Puerto Jiménez Airport (PJM).
